According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures is developing a biopic around the life and times of the legendary DJ Screw and have tapped director Issac Yowman to spearhead the project and also serve as the film’s executive producer. For those who aren’t familiar with the man, DJ Screw made a name for himself in the 90’s for his slowed down remix techniques to Hip-Hop tracks which was dubbed “Chopped and Screwed.” Unfortunately DJ Screw passed away in 2000 at the young age of 29-years-old. A 12-Year-Old DJ Hosted a Rave in His School’s Bathroom During Lunch Break

If you want to be a good DJ, you’ve got to start from scratch. Despite that horrible pun, please continue on to read about a 12-year-old Manchester boy who DJed at his own rave held in his school’s bathroom. Instead of throwing down potato chips and a sammie during his lunch break, Cael Bell threw down electronic bangers in his school’s toilets. According to a report by The Mirror, the diminutive DJ’s set lasted for 30 minutes, at which point his teachers at St. Antony’s Roman Catholic School raided the party and confiscated his equipment. What a buzzkill. The boy’s mother, Louise Bell, took the incident in stride. “I had to laugh. It has been a terrible year and I couldn’t be angry with my son for trying to spread some cheer,&...

Zedd Curates Exclusive DJ Mix of Apple Music’s Biggest Songs of 2020

There is perhaps no EDM artist more ideal than Zedd, one of the genre’s true hit-makers, to curate a list of Apple Music‘s biggest songs of 2020. Zedd has teamed up with the streaming giant for an exclusive DJ mix that covers not only the most popular songs in dance music from this year, but also the contemporary music scene at large. There is something for everyone here, as Zedd has chosen tracks that aren’t rooted in EDM, such as Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear‘s “my ex’s best friend,” Lil Baby‘s “Woah,” and Justin Bieber and Chance The Rapper‘s chart-topping single “Holy.”. However, dance music is of course well-represented with selections such as “Breaking Me” by Topic and...

Greetings, Earthlings. We come in … peace? Katy Perry unveiled the extraterrestrial video for her latest single, “Not the End of the World,” starring none other than Zooey Deschanel on Monday (Dec. 21). In the clip, a pair of blue aliens are tasked with saving the pop star from Earth’s impending destruction, only to accidentally beam up her lookalike — Deschanel — when the two stars cross paths during the bungled abduction. Quickly realizing the aliens’ mistake, (don’t worry, extraterrestrials, plenty of Earthlings see the resemblance too …) the She & Him singer agrees to play along in exchange for their help in, you know, saving the planet. Iggy Pop Creates COVID-19 Anthem ‘Dirty Little Virus’

Iggy Pop is feeling inspired by the travesty of 2020, and it’s resulted in the new single, “Dirty Little Virus.” If you ever wanted to hear a punk/rock icon stoically singing “COVID-19,” now you can. There are a bunch of… interesting one-liners, including the opening lyric: “COVID-19 is on the scene.” It’s all very detached and matter-of-fact. “I was moved to write a direct lyric, not something too emotional or deep,” Pop said in a video, “more like journalism: ‘who, what, when where?’ I left out the ‘why’ because that gets too complex, but I put in how I felt about it.” Another odd point-blank lyric: “She’s only 19 but she can kill ya.” He’s not wrong. Playing guitar and bass on the cut is Ari Teitel, while the tune’s co-writer Leron Thomas is credited with “editing, trumpet wor...

Peter Jackson Releases Initial Footage From Upcoming The Beatles: Get Back Documentary

The Lord Of The Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson has revealed footage of his much-anticipated documentary The Beatles: Get Back, which is slated for an Aug. 27, 2021 release. Jackson says he’s “halfway through editing” in New Zealand, going through “56 hours of never-before-seen Beatles footage.” He emphasizes that this is “not a trailer, it’s not a secret, it’s like a montage of moments that we’ve pulled to give you a sense of the spirit.” And that spirit, from the 1969 Let It Be sessions, is jolly and loose. Scenes show several false starts in the studio while recording “Get Back,” with Yoko Ono sitting in front of John Lennon. All the members, Paul McCartney — in his full beard era — George Harrison and Ringo Starr, are shown goofing around. Linda McCartney is also in control room sce...

Taylor Swift Completes Chart Double In Australia With ‘Evermore,’ ‘Willow’

By landing two No. 1 albums in just 19 weeks, Swift sets a new ARIA Charts record for the shortest space between successive No. 1 albums, easily beating the 25 weeks separating Ariana Grande’s Sweetener (No. 1 in August 2018) and Thank U, Next (No. 1 in February 2019). With Christmas just around the corner, Delta Goodrem’s Only Santa Knows jingles up the albums chart 12-2, for a new chart peak. Its climb follows the Dec. 12 airing of the Delta At Christmas special on the free-to-air Nine TV network. Twenty years after the release of their cut ‘n’ paste masterpiece Since I Left You, Australian electronic act Avalanches crash into the albums chart at No. 4 with We Will Always Love You, their third album. We Will Always Love You is the followup to Wildflower, which ruled the AR...
