Ariana Grande Bags Chart Double In U.K.

Over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, “Positions” enters a second week at No. 1, while two more tracks from the LP crack the Top 40. Grande’s “34+35” is new at No. 9 and “Motive” featuring Doja Cat is at No. 16, extending her list of U.K. Top 40 hits to 28. She’s the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020 (Drake, Eminem and Stormzy are the others), and the first female artist to score consecutive chart double wins in almost ten years (Rihanna did it in 2011). Thanks to Grande’s chart domination, Sam Smith misses out on top spot with Love Goes (Capitol), new at No. 2 on the albums survey. It’s the end of a golden streak for Smith, whose previous two albums hit the summit of the national albums survey. Veteran singer Cliff Richard rounds out an all-new Top 3 with Music… The Air...

Ariana Grande, Midnight Oil Burn Bright on Australia’s Charts

The Makarrata Project features the band collaborating with Indigenous artists and First Nations people including Jessica Mauboy, Kev Carmody, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dan Sultan and Frank Yamma, and includes the previously-released numbered, “Gadigal Land.” It’s a bittersweet result for the politically-charged rock band. Bass player Bones Hillman, who joined the band in 1987 and has been with them ever since, died Saturday (Nov. 7) after a battle with cancer. With Peter Garrett and Co. claiming top spot, Ariana Grande has to settle for a No. 2 bow with Positions, though its title track enters a second week at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart and is one of eight tracks from the LP to impact this week’s Top 50. The U.S. pop star previously ruled the albums survey with My Everything (September 2014)...

Midnight Oil’s Bass Player Bones Hillman Dies at 62

Later, Hillman would step onto the biggest stages of them all when joined Midnight Oil in 1987, replacing Peter Gifford. With Hillman in the lineup, The Oils etched their name in the history books. He took his place on stage with his bandmates in Sydney in 2006 when The Oils were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, again 2009 when the rockers reunited for the Sound Relief fundraiser at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and in 2018, when the group were feted with the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music. And when Peter Garrett and Co. got the band back together for The Great Circle 2017 World Tour, Hillman took his place at front of stage. Hillman and Midnight Oil “did thousands of gigs together,” reads the band’s statement. The Kiwi musician played on 1990’s Blue Sky ...

Miley Cyrus Takes on Ariana Grande For U.K. No. 1

Based on the first weekend’s activity, just 1,000 chart sales separate the two. Little Mix are targeting their tenth Top 5 single with “Sweet Melody,” which vaults 12-4 following the release of Confetti, the girl group’s sixth studio album. The highest new entries on the chart blast belong to Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, with “Say Something” new at No. 16 and “Magic” at No. 19. Both tracks appear on Kylie’s 15th and latest album Disco, which dropped last Friday (Nov. 6). The Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday, local time. Yungblud Gets Airborne for ‘Cotton Candy,’ ‘Strawberry Lipstick’ at 2020 EMAs

Genre-blurring U.K. singer-songwriter Yungblud delivered a high-flying, memorable performance at the 2020 MTV EMAs on Sunday (Nov. 8). Busting out the cupid/women’s tennis pro outfit from his “Cotton Candy” video, Yungblud crooned that sweet, earnest ode to sexual liberation while flying through the air and miming shooting arrows at unsuspecting lovers. When he got grounded, Yungblud tore off his white skirt to reveal Union Jack shorts as he ripped through a blistering live version of “Strawberry Lipstick” with his band. “MTV I love you!” he screamed as the performance wrapped. 24kGoldn & Iann Dior Are in a Colorful ‘Mood’ for Their 2020 MTV EMAs Performance

Nothing drab about this! Though 24kGoldn and collaborator Iann Dior performed in what appeared to be a pretty empty warehouse for the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards preshow on Sunday (Nov. 8), the set was far from drab. As the two performed their hit song “Mood,” they danced among colorful banners that hung from an upper walkway and high bars all the way to the floor level where they were. There was also a stage with its edges lit up in neon pink lights. “Why you always in a mood? F–kin’ ’round, actin’ brand new/ I ain’t tryna tell you what to do/ But try to play it cool/ Baby, I ain’t playing by your rules/ Everything look better with a view,” the two sang coolly as light from high windows streamed into the open space. Why Don’t We Bring the Rock to 2020 MTV EMA With ‘Fallin”

If you had filed Why Don’t We into the boy band category, you might have been surprised by their performance Sunday (Nov. 8) at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards. The band was still intact, but the boys have grown up into full-blown rockers, with each member playing an instrument for their run through “Fallin’.” The fivesome kept things straightforward, performing on a light-up stage while each showcasing their vocals and their musical chops on their respective instruments. Daniel Seavey even pulled a Phil Collins, banging away on the drums while turning in a flawless falsetto simultaneously. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Lil Nas X Teases New Single ‘Holiday’

Lil Nas X embraces a little “Holiday” magic in the comedic trailer for his new single, which first aired during the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game Sunday night (Nov. 8). The teaser clip for “Holiday” — the title of the song that will be released on Friday (Nov. 13) — brings Lil Nas X back to an “Old Town Road” setting, but takes him to new places. “You are the new Santa,” he reads on the tag of a fallen Santa’s hat, as some new music kicks in. System of a Down Detail Why They Decided to Release New Music

On Friday, System of a Down released new music for the first time in 15 years. Though the move may be surprising, given the recent political back-and-forth between singer Serj Tankian and drummer John Dolmayan, it really was a no brainer for the band to speak up about the current conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan. During a recent interview with FOX 11, bassist Shavo Odadjian detailed what sparked the band’s reunion and how the two new tracks came to be. According to Odadjian, the idea came from a group text sent by Dolmayan. “He wrote and said we need to put everything behind and do something,” he said. “We need to be a part of this. We need to help any way we can. This, this is bigger than us, bigger than our emotions, bigger than ou...

Dave Chappelle Drops Fiery Monologue on ‘SNL’, “Come Get Your N*gga Lessons”

Source: NBC / Getty Talk about exquisite timing. Dave Chappelle hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live since the United States elected a new President in Joe Biden that same day, and he delivered in an albeit limited role. Chappelle wasn’t in too many sketches, but he made the most of his screen time. His opening monologue had some awkward moments (a women’s salary joke didn’t really fly), but when he was hitting, it was the fiery wokeness we’ve come to expect. Such as when he was thankful for the coronavirus. “You guys remember what life was like before COVID? I do,” said Chappelle. “It was mass shooting every week, anyone remember that? Thank God for COVID. Something had to lock these murderous whites up and keep them in the house.” A bit about Trump running around like an outbr...

John Legend & Chrissy Teigen Celebrate Joe Biden’s Win With Crowd in Hollywood

She went on to share a clip of herself in her black SUV screaming out the window while rolling around West Hollywood, as well as photos captured by fellow celebrators of her and Legend as the two cheered through the sunroof of their vehicle. Teigen tweeted, “Everyone is so happy I’m crying.” Video also surfaced of the couple dancing and cheering along with the crowds as their car drove by. The night before the Nov. 3 election, 11-time Grammy winner Legend performed and spoke out against Trump at a Biden-Harris rally in Philadelphia. “Some people see the meanness, the bullying, the selfishness of Donald Trump and they mistake it for strength, a kind of twisted masculinity,” he said. “Some see his greed and they mistake it for being good at business.”...

Suspect Arrested, Charged With Murder in Shooting Death of King Von

Billboard has reached out to the Atlanta Police Department for comment. Bennet, 26, was among three men killed outside of Atlanta’s Monaco Hookah Lounge on Friday. The shootings took place around 3 a.m. when an argument between two groups turned into a fight in the nightclub’s parking lot. The rapper, who grew up on the South side of Chicago, was known for his sing-song style on tracks such as “Crazy Story” and “What It’s Like.” He was also childhood friends with fellow MCs Lil Durk and Chief Keef. Following the tragic news of Bennett’s death, hip-hop stars such as Chance the Rapper and Big Sean took to social media to mourn his loss. See their tributes here.
