German Study Suggests Indoor Concerts May Have ‘Low’ Impact on COVID-19 Spread

The live music industry has taken a massive hit since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. While there have been attempts at livestreams and outdoor shows, venues have suffered and are at risk of closing permanently. However, a new study from Germany suggests that indoor concert events may have a “low to very low” impact on spreading COVID-19. But that’s only if organizers do the following — put in adequate ventilation, follow “strict hygiene protocols” and limit the number of people who can attend. “There is no argument for not having such a concert,” Dr. Michael Gekle, part of the team at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg who conducted the study, told the New York Times. “The risk of getting infected is very low.” In an experiment that took place in August, German researc...

A clip of the moment was posted to the Instagram of the Joy To The Polls account, who wrote, “Singing to voters in the streets is so punk! We love @thisispattismith bringing people power to the polls with this impromptu performance in NYC earlier this week. You don’t have to be the Godmother of Punk to surprise and delight voters in long voting lines!” Finishing the song, Smith entreated, “Don’t forget it, use your voice! Vote!” Additionally, Smith, masked and in a beanie, posted a photo on Instagra...

David Bowie and Morrissey’s Cover of T. Rex Is Coming to Vinyl

In 1991, revered Brit superstars David Bowie and Morrissey performed a cover version of T. Rex’s “Cosmic Dancer” at a concert in Los Angeles; that live cover will finally officially be released Nov. 13. It arrives via digital download and streaming services, with a physical seven-inch single coming on Feb. 19. On the flip side of the single will be Morrissey’s take on The Jam’s “That’s Entertainment,” which is not, however, the same version of the song that Morrissey put out in 1993. Morrissey’s official website says that “Cosmic Dancer” will have an “upgraded and edited video made in Los Angeles by Tim Broad.” That will also drop on Nov. 13. The front and back photographs of David Bowie and Morrissey on the sleeve were taken in New York City by Linder Sterling. The ori...

Donald Trump Introduces Lil Pump as ‘Lil Pimp’ At Pre-Election Rally

When Donald Trump brought Lil Pump to the stage at his pre-election rally last night (Nov. 2), it wasn’t exactly done with the utmost accuracy. “Speaking of music and other things, one of the big superstars of the world — Lil Pimp!” Trump said with a chuckle as Lil Pump walked on the stage with a bright red MAGA hat on. Pump looked on unfazed and thanked Trump by saying, “I want to say, Mr. President, thank you for everything you’ve done for the country. You brought the troops home, and you’re doing the right thing. MAGA 20, 20, 20. Don’t forget that.” While many artists have banned Trump from using their music at his public gatherings on the campaign trail, Lil Pump has doubled down on his support for Trump following Biden’s tax proposal that would increase taxes on those making more than...
