Add “good deed-doer” to Jack White’s numerous list of accomplishments after The White Stripes icon bought a Scottish street performer a new, $4,000 Fender Stratocaster after the busker’s guitar was vandalized by a drunk passer-by on Oct. 20. The Edinburgh-based busker, Matt Grant, who called himself a “Live loop guitarist and street musician.” started a GoFundMe account to replace his acoustic. He posted a video on Instagram that said “Can’t believe this happened. My livelihood.” Word of the incident and the fundraiser reached White, who asked his manager to reach out to Grant. The young musician recounted the ‘incredible” chain of events on his Instagram page. The page had raised about £4,000 — more than $5,000 US dollars — before White stepped in with the generous gesture. Gr...
Zeds Dead‘s Deadbeats imprint is one of the driving forces of modern bass music. The label has been responsible for massive releases from artists such as GRiZ, Blunts & Blondes, Dion Timmer, and of course, Zeds Dead themselves. Yesterday, Zeds Dead’s flagship label took to Twitter to announce something very spooky and special for the days leading up to Halloween. “10 Days of Dead Treats” is Deadbeats’ way of handing out Halloween treats (and maybe some tricks, too) over the days leading up to October 31st. Among those treats: exclusive Halloween-themed livestreams, free downloads, merch giveaways and more. Deadbeats is looking to stuff your bag with all kinds of goodies this Halloween. The first treat was already handed out—an exclusi...
After playing their latest RTJ4 on Holy Calamavote last weekend, Run the Jewels have gotten the Adult Swim treatment for their new visual for “yankee and the brave (ep. 4).” Directed by Sean Solomon with animation by Titmouse, the video centers around a high-speed chase where Killer Mike and El-P are chased around the city by the robotic police. [embedded content] “Killer Mike and El-P would fuck up some robot cops in real life,” Chris Prynoski, Titmouse founder and the president said in a statement, “so I consider this animated music video for ‘Yankee and the Brave’ a documentary – that documents the future. The prophecy of Run The Jewels has flowed through the Titmouse animators’ hearts and into their pencils. You can watch it before it happens as magical, moving drawings.” Following the...
Where did the time go? Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness turns 25 this weekend and the band has big plans to celebrate the silver anniversary of the 1995 28-song double album that hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Billy Corgan and company will hit the road in 2021 to mark the anniversary of the album that featured hits like “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “1979” and “Tonight Tonight.” Those dates will be announced soon. More significantly, the band also revealed that they’ve got a 33-song sequel to the album and MACHINA in the works. That record is slated to be released late next year. As for the anniversary itself, Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain will reminisce about the album on a Zoom call on Oct. 23 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST which will be moder...
Before the Great Recession threw a wrench in its plans, General Motors seemed intent on competing in the affordable sports car segment with its rear-drive Kappa platform beyond the short-lived Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky (as well as international variants of the latter from the likes of Opel and Daewoo). Thanks to the market crash, we’ll never really know what would have been. That said, we do know the company teased the possibility of a small two-door wagon for the Chevrolet brand at the 2004 Detroit auto show. Christened the Nomad, the rear-drive concept drew some inspiration from the Corvette-based concept car that donned the same name a half of a century earlier (and less from the Camaro-based 1999 Nomad concept). See all 11 photos Power for the reborn Nomad concept...
The order books are already open for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV that debuted last night. And it looks like the reimagined icon will be quite a bit more expensive than the Tesla Cybertruck—not to mention other emerging electric pickups. Prices will start at $79,995 for the base Hummer EV, on the high end of the full-size pickup market, but we’ll have to wait a long time for that version, which will be the least-expensive Hummer variant. GMC Hummer EV—Not Exactly Coming Soon In fact, that base model won’t arrive until spring 2024, packing a two-motor drive system and estimated range of more than 250 miles. These trucks are quite potent, delivering 625 hp and a healthy 7,400 lb-ft of torque. The 2X trim steps up to more than 300 miles of range, as well as extra goodies such as adaptiv...

Source: Pennsylvania Department of Corrections / PA Dept of Corrections Bill Cosby is currently awaiting to appeal his felony sex assault conviction this coming December, but renewed chatter about his state of being has cropped up again after a new photo went wide. In the mugshot, Cosby, with his hair a bit grown out and uneven, is seen slyly smiling in the photo which garnered some sympathy along with measurable disdain. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections updated the disgraced 83-year-old entertainer’s prison photo, which is part of a routine established by prison facilities for record upkeep and the like. In the photo, Cosby, with his hair unkempt, appears to be looking down and smiling and the photo made its rounds on social media Tuesday (Oct. 20). While there was some concern ...
If you think you’ve heard all the unreleased Notorious B.I.G. material there is, think again. A new animated Pepsi ad features an uncovered Biggie freestyle from 1997 in which the late Brooklyn rap icon drops a few bars about the sugary stuff in the run-up to Big’s upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Nov. 7. The brief rap is courtesy of Biggie collaborators DJ Enuff and Cey Adams, who remastered the 23-year-old tapes of the freestyle Christopher Wallace dropped at D&D Studios all those years ago during a visit to Hot97, accompanied by a short animated video in which characters hang on the streets of Brooklyn listening to a boombox. The Antnamation short takes viewers on a tour of the rapper’s beloved borough, from the corner near Biggie’s childhood ...
It’s not too long now. Ariana Grande has been teasing her upcoming single “Positions” for the past week and after giving a glimpse at the artwork earlier on Wednesday, she dropped a snippet of the alluring track a short time later. The 15-second sneak doesn’t give a deep glimpse of the song, but we do hear Ari emoting wordlessly while her vocals emerge from a murky space as the title scurries across the screen. The tease comes along with the by-now-familiar black-and-white image of the singer’s body in a long-sleeved crop top and matching skirt, with her mouth just barely visible and right arm crossed over her exposed stomach. The tune drops at midnight on Thursday (Oct. 22) and is the first taste of Grande’s upcoming sixth studio album. “...
Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington and America Ferrera are set to host the event, with Keys also scheduled to perform. Additional performers include Shawn Mendes, Dan + Shay and Offset. “The purpose for this special is to remind and inspire all Americans of the power of their voice and their vote. It’s a challenging time but we have the opportunity to continue to show up and shape the world we want to live in. In a democracy, every vote counts, so we want to encourage and uplift each other and remember we all have a say in the direction of our country because everyone’s participation matters,” host Alicia Keys said in a statement. “Also, for many young people across the country, this is their first time voting so we want to make sure they understand the magnitude of this time and lear...
