New Joy Division, New Order Podcast to Feature Original Band Members, Liam Gallagher, Bono and More
Joy Division and New Order’s interconnected histories will be shared in a new podcast called Transmissions: The Definitive Story. The first eight episodes of the series will go through Joy Division’s birth, rise, then the 1980 death of Ian Curtis. The podcast will then explore the formation of New Order and run till the release of their hit 1983 song, “Blue Monday.” “Nothing would’ve stopped us—nothing did stop us, did it?” Joy Division’s Bernard Sumner said in the trailer, which you can hear below. “Ian’s death didn’t stop us, Martin’s death didn’t stop us, getting all the equipment stolen didn’t stop us. As COVID-19 numbers continue to grow, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that some pretty well-known public figures likely had contracted the virus. You can add Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan to that unfortunate list. In an interview with AZ Central, Keenan told the paper that he had contracted COVID-19 in February and that the virus was just as bad as you’d expect. “It was ugly,” the singer admitted, “I survived it, but it wasn’t pretty.” Even though time has passed, Keenan said that he continues to deal with the side effects of the virus, including constant coughing. “I still have the cough. Todd Rundgren and Rivers Cuomo Join Forces on Ska Song ‘Down With The Ship’
Todd Rundgren has teamed up with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo for a new single, “Down With The Ship.” The duo shared writing and vocal roles on the track, which draws inspiration from reggae and African rhythms. Rundgren, in a statement, describes the song as “just a little parable about what happens when you align yourself with a treacherous leader.” Check out the collab below. Toni Cornell Launches Education Initiative, Shares Letter About Addiction
Toni Cornell knows how it feels to lose someone to addiction. And she wants to make sure its never a reality for others. On Friday morning, Cornell — the daughter of legendary Soundgarden leader Chris Cornell — and her brother Christopher launched “Stop the Stigma: Tackling the Stigma of Addiction through Education,” a national education initiative in partnership with the Addiction Policy Forum and the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation. Her mission: Make addiction a part of education for young people. The extension means that Broadway will be closed for more than a year by the time it reopens in 2021. “With nearly 97,000 workers who rely on Broadway for their livelihood and an annual economic impact of $14.8 billion to the city, our membership is committed to re-opening as soon as conditions permit us to do so. We are working tirelessly with multiple partners on sustaining the industry once we raise our curtains again,” Broadway League president Charlotte St. Martin said in a statement. Even though Audi has been around since 1969, the brand’s first-ever rear-wheel-drive car came out in 2018. It was the R8 RWS, a limited-edition, less expensive version of the R8 sports car that lacked front drive shafts, weighed a whole lot less than the standard all-wheel-drive model, and had slightly less power. Audi has already repeated the RWS formula with the facelifted R8 that came out last year, but for 2021 the automaker is bringing it stateside as a regular member of the R8 lineup. The 2021 Acura MDX’s Luxed-Up Interior Teased Before the Full Unveil
The most obvious changes are the brand new driver’s area, the addition of a fully digital driver’s display that the brand is calling the Acura Precision Cockpit, and a brand new central tunnel that contains a drive mode selector much like the one found in the NSX supercar. Another massive screen sits atop the dashboard, revealing a reworked infotainment system that’s more elegant than before. Other photos reveal the new look to the seats. There’s now more detailing in the way of contrasting stitching and piping, as well as intricate quilting. It also looks like there are tiny holes for seat ventilation, too.
