Sammy Hagar’s birthday bash always takes place in Cabo San Lucas around this time. This year, obviously, due to the pandemic, that changed. Hagar and his band, the Circle, are performing on Catalina Island off the coast of California (and home of the Catalina Wine Mixer). Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony is in Hagar’s band (following his own departure from the band), so when the news of Eddie Van Halen’s death hit, they were obviously together. The two paid their respects to Van Halen on social media, but they’ve since recorded a video honoring their former bandmate. In it, Hagar says that hearing about his former bandmate’s death — who he had just started talking to again earlier this year after years of acrimony — hit him like a “freakin’ Mack Truck” and said that perfo...
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recently won an Emmy for their work on Watchmen, inching closer to coveted EGOT status. Despite needing a Tony to hit the awards grand slam, the duo has been busy scoring films — including today’s announcement for the upcoming Mank film. Though the news was announced in December, now you can hear what they’ve cooked up. “Thankfully, I’ve spent most of 2020 immersed in working on this incredible film. Here’s a first look / listen,” he said. You heard the guy, give it a listen! The film is directed by longtime collaborator David Fincher and is about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, played by Gary Oldman. Mank will be released in theaters in November before moving to Netflix Dec. 4 on Netflix. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are...
Van Halen manager Irving Azoff confirmed what many had hoped for when David Lee Roth leaked the news a few years ago: a new 2019 tour that would have reunited the band’s classic lineup for a stadium tour. In a Pollstar interview, Azoff said that the hoped-for tour was close to happening, but couldn’t due to the late Eddie Van Halen’s health issues. “We had lots of stops and starts, but there was every intention of doing a summer stadium tour (in 2019), and as the cancer moved around, [Van Halen] was physically unable to do it,” Azoff said. “There is no doubt in my mind that it would have been massive.” “But I’ve never seen anybody fight the fight that [Van Halen] fought over the last 10 years, fighting the cancer,” he continued when describing the late guitarist’s battle. Azoff also l...
This year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony (that was supposed to take place in Cleveland) was first pushed, then pushed again before finally being moved to a virtual ceremony. It would have been a monumental event with this year’s inductees: Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex. A virtual ceremony — the next best thing to being there — will air on HBO on Nov. 7, and in it, a number of incredible special guests will pay tribute to this year’s inductees. Without further ado, here are the folks who will honor the above Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020: Luke Bryan, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Miley Cyrus, Billy Gibbons, Dave Grohl, Don Henley, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Idol, Iggy Pop, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Chris...
Future Ford Bronco owners are probably as excited as anyone right now to get their rigs into the great outdoors for some off-road adventure. Sure, some will do more traditional wheeling with their rigs, but there’s a whole lot of interest in long-distance—off-the-grid—overlanding these days. Ford is providing some inspiration for these individuals in the form of the Bronco Overlanding concept. It’s a 2021 Bronco Badlands four-door wearing Area 51 paint and sporting a seven-speed manual transmission. More importantly, it features a whole lot of upgrades. For rolling stock, the Bronco Overlanding concept wears 17-inch Fifteen52 Turbomatic wheels finished in black and wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires. A Warn winch sprouts out of a modular steel bumper (both Ford...
Amidst 2020’s ongoing 2020-ness, it would seem irresponsible for anyone to promote or encourage gatherings, let alone college football tailgates. Dos Equis is doing just that with its Save Our Saturdays marketing ploy celebrating football’s “return,” but makes up for those potentially disastrous optics with free beer and an even cooler delivery vehicle for those beer giveaways, a Dos Equis-themed El Camino. Oh, and the beer brand also is packaging its beer in six-foot-long coolers that double as social-distancing markers (dubbed the “Seis-Foot Cooler”)—which fit snugly in the six-foot pickup bed of an El Camino. Safety! We’re sure you have questions, the first of which might have to do with that free beer. Where can you get it? Sign up at the Dos E...
Prior to the release of his album Syro in 2014, Aphex Twin‘s logo began to appear on billboards worldwide and even on a blimp in London. Fans knew that something new from the legendary producer was on the way, but didn’t know what it was until Aphex Twin himself took to the dark web(!) to announce the album. Now, cryptic billboards emblazoned with the iconic Aphex Twin logo have once again popped up around the globe. Sightings of the billboards have been reported from London, Bristol, Los Angeles, and Berlin, and fans worldwide are now eager to see what’s in store. Music equipment manufacturer Novation shared a post of one of the billboards, sparking speculation that the brand has partnered with Aphex Twin to announce a new software or piece of equip...
Following Mick Fleetwood’s tribute to Nathan Apodaca’s viral TikTok video, the Fleetwood Mac co-founder discussed not only the power of the app (or “program” as he calls it) but also how the song is bringing some “fun” to the world right now. “Yeah, I think that’s nice. I’ve never met, uh, and yet every everyone, uh, everyone and every member of that family is in across the whole planet,” he told Andy Cohen his SiriusXM show. “It seems like, this gentleman, you know. I just became aware of the whole program, so to speak that is, they have a lot of fun doing, doing stuff. The whole TikTok thing just seems so apropos, uh, whether it stays like that. I don’t know, but now it’s all about just people having a, an instant way of expressing. And it just seems right across the board very, ver...
She further marvels, “My very first No. 1, and on my record label. It means everything. The best part is sharing this moment with my co-writers, Rex Rideout and Jairus Mozee. Watching its steady climb up the charts has taught me to always embrace the journey.” Ledisi first ranked on Adult R&B Songs in January 2005 with “My Sensitivity (Gets in the Way),” featuring Boney James, and has logged 17 total entries on the tally. In that span, only Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Alicia Keys and Jill Scott have tallied more entries among solo women. Before “Anything for You,” Ledisi had climbed as high as No. 2 with “Pieces of Me” in 2011. Next up among her seven top 10s, “I Blame You” reached No. 3 in 2014. “Anything For You&...

A.C.E stopped by Korean music program it’s KPOP LIVE on Tuesday (Oct. 6) to deliver a stirring live cover of Blackpink‘s “How You Like That.” For the performance, the K-pop boy band flipped the script on the bombastic single by channeling the likes of Boyz II Men and turning it into a harmony-filled slow jam. “I crumbled before your eyes/ Hit rock bottom and sunk deeper/ To grab onto the last bit of hope/ I’ve tried to reach out with both my hands/ Again, in this dark place, light up the sky/ While looking into your eyes, I’ll kiss you goodbye/ Laugh all you want while you still can/ Because it’s about to be your turn, one, two, three,” the quintet crooned against a bright teal backdrop, adding plenty of harmonies and wailing ad-libs fo...
Scarface has revealed that he needs a new kidney after recovering from COVID-19. “I need a kidney y’all any volunteers? B+ blood type,” he tweeted on Wednesday night (Oct. 7). The Houston rapper tested positive for coronavirus on March 25 and then was in and out of the hospital due to a variety of symptoms including an itchy throat and a high fever. “It started off with pneumonia in both of my lungs and three or four days later my kidneys failed,” he opened up about his diagnosis to fellow Get Boys member Willie D. In April, he revealed that he was on dialysis due to COVID-19 complications. “I’m glad to be alive,” Scarface said. “I fought COVID double bilateral pneumonia — both lungs — and kidney failure in my house,” he said. “I went back to the hospital.
