Rolls-Royce showed off the all-new 2021 Ghost, the brand’s “entry-level” luxury sedan (ha!), at the beginning of September. It’s a cleaner, statelier design that doesn’t reinvent the Ghost concept so much as hone it to a sharp edge. Built on the brand’s aluminum spaceframe chassis, the luxury sedan now has a platform befitting its station, too. Now Rolls-Royce is showing off the extended wheelbase version—fittingly enough, called the Ghost Extended. See all 10 photos And extended, it is. The wheelbase swells by six inches, and the overall length by seven. There’s a weight penalty to grow your Ghost, but it doesn’t appear to faze the sedan at all. The 102 pounds of additional weight involved in the stretch fails to affect the manufacturer-prov...
It may seem like a nascent startup to us Americans, but Lynk & Co is already well-established in China, reporting more than 300,000 overall sales since the first vehicle went on sale in 2018. That’s quite a bit. Its range in that market is heavy on small crossovers that share an architecture with its corporate sibling, Volvo. Lynk & Co’s next play is to move in on the lower rungs of the EV crossover space, a place that more established players such as Tesla and Volkswagen are making moves in. Meet the Link & Co Zero concept. The Zero concept is a car-like crossover and a full-on EV, unlike the hybrids and PHEVs that Lynk & Co currently sells. It recalls the very first concept from the company, the CCC. The connection is more theoretical than literal, but th...
Store owner Angie Roloff says her store and other independent record shops have done better than expected during the pandemic. In October 1988, Angie Roloff and her husband Ron opened Strictly Discs in Madison, Wisconsin, after Ron left a career in the biomedical research field to pursue his love of music full time. Nearly 31 years later, the couple made the difficult decision to shutter in-store operations due to COVID-19, roughly a week before Governor Tony Evers forced a mandatory shutdown of all non-essential businesses. Now that the Wisconsin Supreme Court has overturned Evers’ stay-at-home order — ruling it “unlawful” and “unenforceable” — the Roloffs and their employees have reopened the store. As part of Billboard’s efforts to best cover th...
Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams” cruised to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977. Forty-three years later, TikTok user @420doggface208 is jamming to the hit while cruising on his skateboard, and it’s gaining rotation again. In the short clip that’s already received 2.7 million views on the social platform, he’s seen boarding on the road, lip-syncing to “Dreams” and drinking from an entire bottle of cranberry juice. As if the multitasking wasn’t impressive enough, the possibility for the song’s return to the Billboard charts is incredibly high after a meme using the same Rumors hit caused the British-American rockers to re-enter the Hot Rock Songs chart at No. 14 in 2018. Enjoy the latest meme soundtracked by Fleetwoo...
For Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris, Tupac “lives on.” That’s why she deemed him the “best rapper alive” during the NAACP’s virtual convention Friday (Sept. 25). CNN‘s Angela Rye, who moderated the event, then reminded the California senator that has been dead since 1996. “I keep doing that,” Harris laughed in response. “Listen, West Coast girls think Tupac lives on. I’m with you,” Rye agreed, before asking the VP nominee to pick another rapper. While Harris admitted there are “so many” rappers she likes, she also expressed that there are others “I would not mention right now because they should stay in their lane.” Kamala Harris asked, who’s the best...
Source: Press Handout / Good Life Foundation Hasan Stephens has a vision for the Black and Latino youth of Syracuse, NY—a city without a single Black radio station—and that is to teach them self-sustainability, using Hip-Hop as a tool. Many have made countless ducats off of the culture, without producing anything worthwhile but Stephens, a South Bronx native (and Hip-Hop head by birthright, really), has effectively angled the culture to inspire innovation in the youth of upstate NY. Source: Press Handout / Good Life Foundation Boppy jingles and transparent pandering aside, there’s a short list of people who have created something via Hip-Hop with staying power. Stephens insists that his organization, the Good Life Foundation, is the optimal model to watch. He’s right and the right peo...
Source: SOPA Images / Getty Amazon isn’t letting COVID-19 stopping them from turning your home into an Alexa powered oasis. Thursday (Sept.24) during its Fall Devices and Services event, the tech giant unveiled a boatload of new Alexa enabled devices, home security tools, and even a new cloud gaming subscription service. The announcements come as Amazon preps shoppers for the upcoming holiday season and Prime Day. This annual sale usually takes place in July but now is slated to happen on October 13. Amazon Luna Source: Amazon / Amazon Luna Amazon’s cloud gaming streaming service called Luna was the biggest surprise of the event. Unfortunately, it didn’t land with gamers and was immediately billed as a Google Stadia ripoff and was clowned despite glaring differences in the service. For sta...

Hyundai recently announced it will rejigger the Ioniq lineup—currently a trio of gasoline-electric hybrid, plug-in, and electric hatchbacks—into its own EV brand. That vision includes rethinking what an electric vehicle should offer, not only in terms of driving range but also interior design. As such, Hyundai is showing its new Ioniq Concept Cabin, which previews future EV interiors and resembles your living room. We can expect to see some of these innovations reach reality within the next year. Partnering with LG Electronics, Hyundai created an interior that incorporates TVs, cabin-cleaning robots, and plenty of room to relax. A 77.0-inch flexible organic LED screen is attached to the ceiling, and it is large enough so two people can watch something different at the same time. Speakers i...
At Tesla’s Battery Day, founder Elon Musk dropped a typically cryptic reference to a smaller version of the Cybertruck for markets outside of the U.S. This is a truck that Musk has talked about before—more on that in a minute—but what he called it during the Q&A session is what perked our ears up. “Tight Wolverine“…what’s that? What Was Musk Talking About? Here’s what Musk said, specifically: “We’ll probably make an international version that’ll be—kind of smaller, kind of like a tight wolverine package. It’ll still be cooler, but it’ll be smaller because you just can’t make a truck like [the Cybertruck] for most markets.” The statement comes at the 2:45:00 minute mark in the Battery Day video, when asked abou...

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are right around the corner, and there are five duos/groups vying for top honors. But who do you think deserves it the most? If BTS wins, the K-pop septet will become the first group to do so two years in a row since the former British boy band One Direction from 2015-2016. Following their epic reunion last year, the Jonas Brothers tie fellow top duo/group nominees Dan + Shay for the most nods with four — top artist, top duo/group, top radio songs artist and top radio song for “Sucker.” The country-pop duo is also up for top country artist, top country duo/group and top country song for “10,000 Hours” with fellow BBMAs nominee Justin Bieber. And hey look Ma, Panic! At the Disco also made it into the category ...
