Dua Lipa already brought The Blessed Madonna, Madonna and Missy Elliott up with her on the remix of “Levitating.” So who’s hoping aboard next? DaBaby will next for the song’s second remix on Friday, Oct. 2, according to the Future Nostalgia star’s social media today (Sept. 25). He reshared her Instagram on his Story Friday, writing “BOOM” with a rocket emoji. Maybe Billboard Baby will help give her hit the lift-off it needs to go No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The first remix of the song came off her and The Blessed Madonna’s Club Future Nostalgia album, which blasted atop Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Check out Lipa’s “Levitating” remix announcement below....
As Vin Diesel navigates 2020 away from the Fast and Furious set, he video chatted Kelly Clarkson on her show Thursday (Sept. 24) from a recording studio to premiere his debut single “Feel Like I Do” in collaboration with Kygo. “Feel Like I Do” is the first solo single by the action movie star and according to Diesel, the first song on Kygo’s record label Palm Tree Records. And the tropical house track is perfect to listen to with palm trees swaying in the breeze, but that wasn’t quite the setting for its worldwide debut. Spaced out video panels on the set of Clarkson’s NBC daytime talk show displayed the usual dancing audience members from their homes, a venue where Diesel felt “honored” to host the first l...

In the last week, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver has raised the stakes in helping get out the vote. His Eaux Claires Festival launched a voting initiative earlier this week where if Wisconsin natives sign up to vote, they’ll be entered into a contest where they can have a private meeting with him. Continuing his get out the vote drive, Vernon appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as part of the program’s #PlayAtHome series. It’s tough to see his face, as you can see in the clip below, and with good reason. Across Vernon’s face is the message ‘Wisconsin/Register to Vote Online or By Mail/By/Wednesday/October 14/2020. Oh and he performed “22 (OVER S∞∞N).” The performance was (as you can guess) to help raise awareness for the voting initiative. The song, however, ...
Having accrued an encyclopedic knowledge of dance music over the years, Laidback Luke has harnessed his arsenal of production techniques to develop a new DJ training course. He teamed up with online DJ school Digital DJ Tips to release the course, which aims to teach aspiring DJs and producers how to make bootlegs, mashups, and re-edits of songs to drop in their live sets. The goal of “Laidback Luke’s Bootlegs, Mashups, & Re-edits” class is to show beginners how to make edits of songs in order to be more original and obtain their own DJing style. “Bootlegs, mashups and re-edits have always been a part of what DJs do, and what I have done, and I have taught many DJs and producers some of the skills in this course privately over the past 20 years,”...
Remember when the ST badge was reserved for the Focus? Then it migrated to the Fiesta, the Explorer, and Edge. Well, now it’s the Puma’s turn. The cutesy little crossover that we don’t get in the states—which by itself is curious, given America’s hankering for SUVs—just received the ST treatment. It’s the first performance SUV that Ford has given Europe, and even though the upgrades are standard ST fare, it adds up to yet another sporty compact from Ford that we want but can’t have. The first thing that comes to mind when you think ST is probably power. To that end, the Puma gets a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine (likely the same unit from the current, also Euro-only Fiesta ST) that makes 197 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 236 lb-ft of torque between 2,500...
As any automaker having a birthday is wont to do, Jeep is celebrating its 80th birthday with special editions all across its lineup. (1940 was the year the U.S. military solicited companies to pitch a design for what would eventually become the World War II Jeeps produced by Willys and Ford; the word wouldn’t become a registered trademark, and thus an official brand, under Willys until 1950.) Indeed, every 2021 Jeep thus gains an 80th Anniversary Edition, which Jeep previously announced but took until now to finally release some photos of the things. These models arrive in dealerships during the fourth quarter of the year. Features vary somewhat on the 80th Anniversary Editions, but all are well equipped. They have several design details in common, inclu...
One of our favorite rappers to emerge this year has been Bfb Da Packman. After first appearing in June’s Blue Chips, our monthly column on new hip-hop, we spoke with Packman earlier this year about his rise from being a star regional rapper to possibly something bigger. Packman went to L.A. earlier this year, which led to him teaming with Wiz Khalifa in the studio. Today, we hear the results of that collaboration: “Fun Time.” Throughout the song, the affable Packman shines by mixing hilarious, topical lyrics as only he can. (Seriously, what else would you expect from the “Free Joe Exotic” rapper?) There are few emcees who can blend TikTok and PornHub at one point, then later sneeze and rap “Oh, Lord / I don’t got corona.” In the video, the Houston-via-Michigan rapper slips back and forth b...
It’s hard to say what a ‘typical’ movie plot for offbeat auteur Miranda July might be, but it still comes as a bit of a surprise that the latest offering from the writer/director of such Criterion-approved fare as Me You and Everyone We Know and The Future is a film about a family. Then again, Kajillionaire stars a different kind of kin: a trio of emotionally stunted con artists intent on maintaining an off-the-grid, glamor-free existence. Shifting between depictions of parent-child disagreements (relatable!) and scenes about robbing the terminally ill (less relatable!), Kajillionaire is a delicate, deft balancing act; it’s hard to imagine anyone without July’s distinctive vision and exacting attention to nuanced performances — the chemistry of discomfor...
