The Killers Perform ‘Mr Brightside’ on Monday Night Football

On Monday night, the Las Vegas Raiders (it feels as weird to type as it does to look at) played their first home at Allegiant Stadium across the 15 highway from the Strip. The team was tied at halftime, but they did get a warm welcome from a Vegas institution: the Killers. In a pretaped performance, the group played on a makeshift stage on high above the Strip. “It’s our pleasure to welcome the Raiders to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada” Brandon Flowers said. “I think we have just the song for the occasion.” The band then plowed through a version of “Mr. Brightside.” Earlier this year, the Killers released their latest studio album, Imploding the Mirage. You can read our review of it here. Respect The Pioneers: GORE-TEX Inventor Bob Gore Has Passed Away

Source: George Frey/RETIRED / Getty If you ever wore clothing specifically made for the outdoors then you need to take a moment of silence. The father to one of the greatest fashion inventions is no longer with us. As spotted on High Snobiety Bob Gore, the inventor of GORE-TEX, has passed away on Thursday, September 17. In 1969 Bob Gore stretched heated rods of polytetrafluoroethylene and created expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. His discovery of the right conditions for stretching PTFE was a happy accident, born partly out of frustration. Instead of slowly stretching the heated material, he applied a sudden, accelerating yank. “I decided to give one of these rods a huge stretch, fast, a jerk and it stretched 1000%” he said. After some more testing he introduced it to the public under...

After being repeatedly denied bail pleaded guilty to conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon charges in September 2016. A month later, the “Hot N*gga” rapper was sentenced to 7 years in jail. But with credit for time served, and good behavior, Shmurda and his team hoped he’d be out in 3 and a half years. However, TMZ reports that Shmurda was interviewed by the parole board last week and his request for release was denied. At the moment no reason has been given for the denial. The speculation is that Shmurda not being a model inmate at least factored i...

Source: Pacific Press / Getty Though New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio helped navigate New York through a grueling and horrifying few months during the Coronavirus pandemic to the point where life is semi-normal once again, many New Yorkers are still harboring hard feelings towards the elected leaders and let as much be known on the streets of Brooklyn. Emmys So Black: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Regina King, Zendaya & More Snag Golden Lady Statuettes
