Birthday Queen Beyoncé has celebrated seven singles hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 over the last two decades before turning 39 Friday (Sept. 4), but which one are you crazy in love with? She’s accomplished this feat twice on her own with “Irreplaceable” from her all-too-fitting album B’Day and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” from I Am… Sasha Fierce. But the superstar recruited some famous friends (and husband) to get to the top with their duets, from “Crazy in Love” featuring then-boyfriend and current husband Jay-Z to “Perfect” with Ed Sheeran to the “Savage” remix with fellow Houston native Megan Thee Stallion. So which of Queen Bey’s No. 1 hits are you crowni...
Beenie Man and Bounty Killer both took home the winning title of our Verzuz battle poll. Verzuz battle viewers voted in a poll published Tuesday (Sept. 1) on Billboard, choosing the battle between the dancehall reggae legends streamed live from Kingston, Jamaica during Memorial Day weekend as their all-time favorite. And location was key here: Their Verzuz battle won with a whopping 88% of the vote, and 44.6% of the tally’s total votes came from fans in Jamaica. The two DJs not only brought back the historic precursor of Verzuz battles with their head-to-head soundclash competition as early as the 1950s, but they also ushered in a new format of the Verzuz battles by being the first two artists to perform in the same room and IG Live feed. The poll came a day ...
(As it turns out, you can see the Mustang Cobra Jet dragster in action on the show Hard Cell on the MotorTrend app. In the meantime, subscribers can check out other episodes of the performance-EV-focused program right here. ) The Mustang Mach-E is a clear indication Ford wants to make quick, powerful electric cars. Now the Blue Oval has prepared an even more potent pony: a Cobra Jet EV dragster with more than 1,500 horsepower. Like fossil-fuel-powered Cobra Jets, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype—so named, we suppose, for the 1,400 wheel horsepower it was originally thought to produce—looks a lot like a regular Mustang on steroids, with optimized bodywork and fat rubber signifying its quarter-mile purpose. For better or worse, though, this latest model sounds nothing...
Putting the spotlight on lyrics, vocals and emotions, Leonel García‘s stripped-down versions of ranchera classics such as “La Media Vuelta,” “En el Último Trago” and “Tu Recuerdo Y Yo” on his new album Amor Pasado inject new life to the songs of an older generation. Paying tribute to the melancholic songs made famous by musical icons like José Alfredo Jiménez and Chavela Vargas, García began recording this album nearly three years ago. “I wanted to do an homage to ranchera music, to Mexican music because it has been a part of my life since I was little,” García tells Billboard. “I don’t sing the genre but still it has influenced my way of singing.” For Amor Pasado, García recruite an array of artists such as Natal...

Update (Sept. 4): Marshmello took to social media to share a teaser video with Demi Lovato. Check it out: It seems everyone has a taste for Marshmello. Still riding high on his Juice WRLD collaboration “Come & Go” the Mello man posted a cryptic teaser that seemingly references Demi Lovato on Monday (Aug. 3). On Instagram, the producer posted an image of himself on the phone with a caption reading simply “hello? demi?” As it seems unlikely that he’s referring to Demi Moore, we’re betting that we see a new single with Lovato in the coming weeks. In what could be a clue about the themes of the track, the image shows Marshmello sitting in a dark room littered with liquor bottles and a knocked over lamp, with an obscured mystery woman linge...

Eddie Vedder opened up on a variety of topics — including working on new music during the global pandemic, why he finally joined Instagram and why the “democratic process” of recording Pearl Jam’s Gigaton makes it one of his favorite records — on a special fan-driven Q&A session with SiriusXM, Faithful Forum with Eddie Vedder, on Wednesday (Sept. 3). Vedder has been deemed Pearl Jam’s frontman, but he points out how PJ co-founders Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard’s longtime musical partnership has paved the way for the foundation of the band. “I think at some point we functioned without a leader,” he said in the interview. “If I ended up in that situation, I think it was reluctantly. It was by no means a hostile takeover. It was their world that started all this. It was Green River. A...

Source: Pool / Getty Kanye West’s Presidential campaign took another L. Yesterday (Sept. 4), a judge granted an order to removed Yeezy’s name from the Virginia ballot. Apparently, the “Power” rapper once again got caught peddling the jig when it came to getting the petition signatures needed to get on the ballot legally. Reports Raw Story: Richmond Circuit Court Judge Taylor was looking at the electors that were chosen for West’s bid because the people said that they were misled about taking an “Elector Oath.” “Two signed affidavits were submitted Friday to the State Board of Elections from registered voters who said they were duped into signing up to serve as electors for West in Virginia,” the Washington Post reported on Monday. “In a separate account, an Alexandria woman ...
