US Music Venues Will Light Up Red on Sept. 1 to Demand Passage of The Restart Act

Music venues across the U.S. will bathe their facilities in red light on Tuesday evening to encourage Congress to pass the Restart Act, which would provide much-needed assistance for millions of Americans who have lost income due to the pandemic. Spearheaded by the #WeMakeEvents coalition, the #RedAlertRESTART campaign seeks to bring awareness to the dire situation live music faces if Capitol Hill does not supply support for venues that have been shuttered since mid-March in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. From 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. PST on Tuesday night, music venues nationwide will be lit red to highlight that the live events industry is on red alert for its survival. The campaign is also coming out in support of ExtendPUA.org, which is lobbying for the continuation ...

Pasquale Rotella Confirms 2021 Postponement of Insomniac Festivals Due to COVID-19

Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella took to social media today to share some devastating—if unsurprising—news about the future of his company’s wildly popular dance music festivals in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape Psycho Circus, EDC Orlando, and Dreamstate SoCal have all officially been tabled, biting the bullet amid a relentless pandemic that continues to throttle the music community at large. They will now all be planned for unannounced 2021 dates. “As you might have imagined after we moved EDC Las Vegas to May 2021, we will be shifting Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape Psycho Circus, EDC Orlando & Dreamstate SoCal to 2021 as well,” he wrote via Instagram. “While this year has been full of ups and downs, it’s somethi...

Guns N’ Roses to Stream Houston, Mexico City Shows From 2016

It’s been a while since Guns N’ Roses shared a live show from their Not in This Lifetime Selects livestream series. But the band is going to stream two gigs to make up for lost time. The sets come from the Houston and Mexico City dates of their original 2016 leg. The Houston show took place at NRG Stadium on Aug. 5. The Mexico City airing is slightly unclear because the band played multiple shows in the Mexican capital city that year. The sets, though, are similar. The rockers launched their Not in This Lifetime Selects streaming series in May by sharing a 2019 show from Salt Lake City at Vivint Smart Home Arena. They followed with their 2018 slot at the Download Festival in the U.K. Guns N’ Roses played one show this year (coincidentally, in Mexico) befo...

[embedded content] The second disc of the upcoming box set that includes “I.O.U.” explores the creative process behind Pleased To Meet Me. Of the 15 demos on the disc, “I.O.U.” and six others represent the last recordings made by all four original members of The Replacements. Guitarist Bob Stinson departed the band in 1986. White Man In Blackface Rolled Up To DC Protest, Gets Jaw Tapped & Police Protection [Video]

Source: @BGOnTheScene / Twitter In case any of you culturally insensitive or blatantly racist white people have yet to get the memo, Blackface is forever a no go. Nevertheless, a goofy white dude rolled up to a protest in Washington, DC in blackface and eventually got sucker-punched in the jaw. A crowd was gathered near the White House—near the street painted with Black Lives Matter—protesting the Republican National Convention. Participants were none too pleased at the bigoted bro, and let him know that he had to go. Someone can be heard yelling “Get out of here.” The cops were actually escorting him away, and that’s when the video footage kicks off. As the racist troll is being told to keep it moving, a man rolls up quickly punches him in the jaw. The fade issuer runs off while police gi...

Jacob Blake’s Dad Says Speaking To Joe Biden & Kamala Harris Was Like Speaking To “Family”

Source: Scott Olson / Getty Days have past since Kenosha police officer Rusten Shesky shot an unarmed Jacob Blake 7 times in the back, and while Racist-In-Chief Donald Trump has yet to even say the man’s name, Joe Biden is out here filling the void you’d expect from a Commander-In-Chief. TMZ is reporting that the democrat Presidential candidate along with his running mate, Kamala Harris reached out to the Blake family to express their support and help comfort them as they try and cope with their new reality. Jacob Blake’s father – also named Jacob Blake – revealed that he and his family were contacted by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after the attempted murder of their son by officer Shesky, and admitted they were nervous to speak to them initially but were calmed down once they spoke a...

NBA Players Vote To Resume Play, But Games Are Still Postponed

Source: Kevin C. Cox / Getty After a few days of boycotting the playoffs to demand justice for the unjustified shooting of Jacob Blake, it looks like the players of the NBA are ready to get back on the court and resume play. According to Raw Story, the players have decided to finish out the remainder of the playoffs and crown an NBA champion, but no dates have been set yet as the NBA has still postponed the games as originally scheduled. Yesterday the players held a meeting before noon and though LeBron James’s Lakers and Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers were initially adamant about completely canceling the season (can you blame them?), they eventually came around to finishing out the remainder of the playoffs. Though the playoffs were expected to resume as early as today (August 28), no games hav...

Jacob Blake Is Handcuffed To Hospital Bed Despite Being Paralyzed Says Father

Source: From Ben Crump/Twitter / Ben Crump/Twitter It seems if the law can’t kill you they will dehumanize you in anyway possible. Jacob Blake is now the victim of racial profiling even after his brutal shooting. As spotted on TMZ it seems officials in Kenosha, Wisconsin are doing the most to further infuriate people of color. Blake’s father, also named Jacob, has revealed that his son is being treated like a criminal even as he lays in a hospital. On Thursday, August 27 he told the press that he was able to visit him only to find that he was handcuffed to the bed. Naturally the sight disturbed the elder. “He can’t go anywhere. Why do you have him cuffed to the bed?” he asked. Furthermore he has yet to get direct answers on why he was arrested and remains shackled. “I told him, ‘...

Rick Astley Shares Acoustic Cover of Post Malone’s ‘Better Now’

Rick Astley has returned with a new cover but from an unlikely source. While he’s given fans a solid rendition of the Foo Fighters’ “Everlong,” the ’80s pop-singer-turned-viral-sensation took on Post Malone’s “Better Now,” off the ubiquitous artist’s 2018 album, Beerbongs & Bentleys. “So there are a lot of words in this song,” Astley admitted, adding, “It’s not my song. I don’t really know it properly, but I love it. So I’m going to give it a go. Let’s see what happens.” Whether it actually is the number of lyrics that he needs to get through or the quicker tempo he’s performing at, Astley makes a solid effort and even shows a bit more of a rasp in his voice, compared to the smooth pop vocals his fans are used to. Astley has also covered “Titanium” by David Guetta featuring Sia. Last y...

St. Vincent Joins Forces With Yoshiki for Fresh Take on ‘New York’

St. Vincent teamed with Japanese musician/composer/producer Yoshiki to craft a fresh version of her song “New York,” which dropped today (Aug. 28). St. Vincent’s signature tune was originally released on her Grammy-winning 2017 album MASSEDUCTION, and the reimagined version features Yoshiki’s classically inspired arrangements, creating unpredictable new textures. St. Vincent said in a statement that she was “honored” to work the multifaceted artist. “Yoshiki’s arrangement added to the song in the way time or distance transform longtime friends or relationships: the original is still recognizable, but subtly and significantly altered,” she said. “I admire how St. Vincent approaches music in an innovative and courageous way,” Yoshiki said in a statement, adding, “Her music breaks the boundar...

The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Will Pack a Screaming NA V-8 Engine

The frustrating part when writing one of our “What We Know” stories is that the info in it becomes obsolete the moment we know more. Take the upcoming C8 version of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Thanks to a source at GM, we now know a lot more about the racier model. Are you ready? The next Corvette Z06 will have a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter flat-plane twin-cam V-8 that spins to 9,000 rpm. Again, naturally aspirated and redlines at nine grand. Can we get a hallelujah? If we may, a Lamborghini Huracan Evo‘s 10-cylinder engine spins to 8,500 rpm, while the Lambo Aventador SVJ‘s V-12 only hits 8,700 rpm. The Ferrari 812 Superfast? It says 9,000 rpm on the tach, but everyone knows (wink) that its superlative V-12 is only good until 8,900 revs. No, only the discontinued...
