Travis Scott Drops New Song ‘The Plan’ From Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’: Listen
Travis Scott has dropped his new song “The Plan,” which will be featured in Christopher Nolan upcoming sci-fi thriller Tenet. The brain-melting track dropped early Saturday morning (Aug. 22) after debuting the previous evening during the NBA’s Clippers/Mavericks game on TNT. “The Plan” marks Scott’s first attempt at writing a soundtrack song. Tenet director Nolan recently told GQ that the rapper’s contribution to the hush-hush project was like the final piece of a “yearlong puzzle.” “His insights into the musical and narrative mechanism [composer] Ludwig Göransson and I were building were immediate, insightful, and profound,” Nolan said. Jack Sherman, Early Guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dies at 64
Jack Sherman, an early guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has died, the band confirmed Friday (Aug. 21) on social media. He was 64. “We of the RHCP family would like to wish Jack Sherman smooth sailing into the worlds beyond, for he has passed,” the group wrote on Instagram. “Jack played on our debut album as well as our first tour of the USA. He was a unique dude and we thank him for all times good, bad and in between. Peace on the boogie platform.” The musician’s cause of death had not yet been revealed at press time. Sherman joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983, replacing founding member Hillel Slovak, and played on the band’s self-titled debut album. Kanye West Short on Ballot Signatures in West Virginia
West Virginia’s secretary of state says rapper Kanye West’s bid to get on the ballot for president came up short on qualified signatures. Secretary of State Mac Warner’s office told media outlets Friday (Aug. 21) that West needed 7,144 signatures from registered voters in West Virginia. West submitted 15,000 signatures, but only 13,865 were legible, and only 6,383 were confirmed West Virginia registered voters, according to Secretary of State spokesperson Mike Queen. State law requires the secretary of state to certify the ballot by Tuesday. Elsewhere, Wisconsin election officials on Thursday decided to keep West off the ballot because his nomination papers were turned in moments after the deadline. The details of the encounter are sketchy, but the use of lethal force by numerous cops against one lone Black man is once again highly questionable at best. The virtual hearing was attended by Spears’ court appointed attorney, Samuel Ingham, her father James Spears, Lynn Spears, and their respective attorneys. In addition, Spears current temporary conservator Jodi Montgomery. Penny also made some findings and orders under seal. In the interim she set a time table for Britney’s attorney to file a petition by Sept. 18 and to have it set for a hearing in her court on Oct. 14th. Since mid-March, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced traditional concerts to take an indefinite hiatus. Over the past few months, however, we’ve seen an emergence of drive-in shows to supplement the loss of live music. At the end of August, A-Trak will be headlining a drive-in show in SoCal hosted by GLOBAL SOUNDEMIC.
