Watch John Legend and Common Perform Emotional ‘Glory’ With Choir at 2020 DNC

Prior to Joe Biden’s speech to cap the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Thursday night (Aug. 20), John Legend and Common came together again to honor another great Democrat: Rep. John Lewis, the civil-rights leader who passed away last month at the age of 80. Following a video package honoring Lewis’ legacy, Legend and Common were shown sharing a stage and launching into “Glory,” the theme song for the 2014 Civil Rights Movement film Selma. While performing to what appeared to be an empty theater, the R&B star and hip-hop veteran were joined by a gospel choir, who were waiting in the wings to eventually harmonize on the song. “Glory” won the Academy Award for best original song at the Oscars in 2015. Lewis played a prominent role in the Selma to Montgomery marches, and it has bee...

BTS Blow It Up With ‘Dynamite’ Music Video: Watch

Boom! BTS are back with the explosive new release, “Dynamite,” their very first English language track. Big Hit Entertainment lit a long fuse on the tune earlier in the week. At midnight, it blew up with an official music video. The new tune has a disco vibe running through it, and the music video has a kitsch, throwback Los Angeles look as the lads show us all their best moves. In July, BTS mentioned an upcoming new single. “We are preparing an album for the second half of this year, but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible,” they revealed on the Korean broadcasting app V Live. “Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans.”...

UK Police Continue Crackdown on Illicit Raves After Breaking Up 200 in One Weekend

Despite concerted efforts by the Metropolitan Police, London has faced an influx of illicit raves over the past few months as COVID-19 restrictions have continued to shut down the nightlife sector. According to a report by Mixmag, over the course of one weekend, 200 illicit parties were broken up, adding to the 1,000 unlicensed events that have taken place in London since June.  “The truth is that these events are incredibly unsafe, attract high levels of anti-social behaviour and can end in violence,” said Commander Ade Adelekan, a senior Metropolitan Police officer. “Sadly, some events have ended with officers being targeted with mindless violence.”  Adelekan’s words come just days after two teenagers were recently sta...

Patty Smyth Reflects on Life and Love on ‘Build a Fire’

Patty Smyth is releasing her first album of original material in a few months. Previously, she’s shared “Drive” from that upcoming collection and today, she dropped “Build a Fire,” a song that’s an ode to her 25-year relationship with tennis legend John McEnroe. “John and I have been together almost 25 years,” Smyth said in a statement. “I’m surprised we still have this chemistry going. We still have this strong bond to each other, but that’s what ‘Build a Fire’ is about. The deeper you go with somebody the deeper your fire can get.” It’s About Time isn’t just a clever name. It’s the first time in 28 years that the Scandal singer is putting out solo material. But that doesn’t mean she’s been dormant. Her song, “The Warrior,” is the theme for the Netflix series G.L.O.W. “Because I didn’t wr...

In the session, Megan didn’t hold back. “Yes this n—a Tory shot me. You shot me. And you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs, lying and shit. Stop lying. Why lie? The Chicks Open Final Night of 2020 DNC With ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’

While other artists’ performances during the 2020 Democratic National Convention were weaved well into the night’s telecast, the Chicks helped open the final night of this year’s DNC. Instead of energizing those tuning in with their new single, “March March”, the country trio performed a powerful acapella version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The Chicks, who recently changed their group moniker, stood in front of dark green backgrounds with the cameras tight on their faces. And their buttery vocals were so powerful that you can feel the meaning of what America’s national a little bit more. Common and John Legend paid homage to the late civil rights activist and U.S. Representative John Lewis with a performance of their Oscar-winning song, “Glory,” from the 2014 Ava DuVernay-directed film ...

Make America White Again: Racist Donald Trump Wanted To Trade Puerto Rico For Greenland, Seriously

Source: GREGG NEWTON / Getty Donald Trump’s contempt for Puerto Ricans, Mexicans and basically anyone from a “shit hole” country has been well-documented ever since he announced his Presidential campaign back in 2015. Since taking office in 2016 he’s done everything in his power to punish any man, woman, and child who dares to be born with brown skin and Latino roots including separating families at the border, slow walking aid to Puerto Rico after being rocked by natural disasters, and even denying Puerto Ricans stimulus checks at a time when they’ve needed it the most. But just when you thought he couldn’t be anymore racist towards American Latinos, the former chief of staff under former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Mile Taylor, revealed that Donald Trump was s...
