RZA Whipped Up a New Ice Cream Truck Jingle With Good Humor to Toss Out the Old Racist One

RZA came up with the ingredients for a new ice cream truck jingle that isn’t spoiled with a racist past. The Wu-Tang Clan mastermind teamed up with Good Humor, the century-old ice cream company that brought us the original ice cream truck, strawberry shortcake bar, chocolate-coated ice cream on a stick and more goodies, for a musical treat with a trap flare to it. The company chose to ring in its centennial anniversary this year with a different sound, one that ensures “ice cream trucks across the country continue to spread joy to everyone for the next 100 years,” according to Good Humor’s website. “We come to find out that it has racist roots,” the rapper-producer said in a video explaining the story behind the revamped ice cream truck instrumental. ...

Mac Miller’s K.I.D.S. Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Two New Songs

Rostrum Records is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Mac Miller’s breakout mixtape, K.I.D.S., with the release of a deluxe edition of the project today (Aug. 13). K.I.D.S., Miller’s fourth mixtape, initially released on Aug. 13, 2020, and included “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza” and “Nikes On My Feet.” And to make this deluxe release more special, it includes two brand new tracks — “Ayye” and “Back In The Day” — as well as a never-before-seen set of images of the late rapper by Rex Arrow, who Miller worked with on his most iconic videos. Mark Kozelek Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Three Women

Mark Kozelek has been accused by three women of sexual misconduct, according to an investigative piece published by Pitchfork today. Sarah Catherine Golden, a mental health specialist, told Pitchfork that she met the Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters singer on a flight to Portugal. She was then allegedly invited to his show, and after the gig, accompanied him to his hotel, where instead of the expected party/hangout, she was alone with him in his room. Pitchfork reports that Golden declined Kozelek’s invitation to spend the night. She asked him to call her a cab, and he did so. But she allegedly recounted later to friends via text, “He started kissing me and simultaneously was somehow naked and hard and jerking off.” Golden didn’t report the incident to Portuguese police, but...

Neil Young Announces Three New Archival Releases

It’s been quite a year for Neil Young. Between his battles with Trump, Fireside Sessions and everything else, it’s hard to see how he’s had time to do anything else. Yet, Young has three new archival projects on the way, due out later this year. Way Down in the Rust Bucket will chronicle Young and Crazy Horse’s gig at Santa Cruz’s Catalyst Club in November 1990, around the time of Ragged Glory. Young has previously aired snippets from the show on his site, and he’s also planning to release a live set from 2003’s Greendale tour on Nov. 6. Hardcore fans will be pleased to learn that Young is finally ready to release Neil Young Archives Vol. 2 on Nov. 6 as well. Hear Thurston Moore’s Unplugged Cover of Galaxie 500’s ‘Another Day’

After announcing the 20-20-20 Galaxie 500 cover series last week, today (Aug. 13), Thurston Moore’s contribution dropped. Moore gave “Another Day,” off Galaxie 500’s 1989 sophomore LP, On Fire, the unplugged treatment. In the video of the cover, vocals and an acoustic guitar are paired with black and white images of fields and sky, as well as a few clips of Thurston performing the song. Linkin Park Drop Unreleased Song From Hybrid Theory 20th Anniversary Edition

Linkin Park will release a deluxe 20th-anniversary edition of Hybrid Theory on Oct. 9. The set will include demos, rarities, B-sides, DVDs and more than 90 minutes of rare video footage, along with other extras. Hybrid Theory broke the band in 2000 on the strength of singles including “One Step Closer” and “In the End” and the Grammy-winning “Crawling,” which are on the reissues. The group, whose frontman Chester Bennington died in 2017 at the age of 41, also shared the long-sought-after 1999 demo “She Couldn’t” today. Prince’s Estate Shares Unreleased ‘Witness 4 the Prosecution (Version 2)’

Prince’s estate will release a massive Sign O’ the Times box set later this year, and have been releasing a steady stream of unreleased tracks from the Purple One’s vault. While the cuts have been culled from numerous sources, today, they issued one from the Sign O’ the Times era. “Witness 4 the Prosecution (Version 2)” was recorded at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound studio in October 1986. According to a release, Prince reworked the song at the request of Deborah Allen, who asked him to write a song for her. This version, unlike the previously released “Version 1,” doesn’t feature the Revolution, with Prince playing all of the instruments except for Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss on sax and trumpet respectively.
