But spending time apart helped them grow stronger together later on, especially with a baby girl now on the way. She even sings about their previous relationship struggles and subsequent internal reflections in “Champagne Problems,” one of the tracks featured on her upcoming fifth album Smile due Aug. 28. And looking inward reminded her of JT’s No. 2 hit single “Mirrors” from his 2013 album The 20/20 Experience. “It’s a song that really talks about ...

Trader Joe’s Contending With Racist Images That Betrays Its Feel-Good Image

Source: Johnny Louis / Getty Trader Joe’s enjoys the image of being a fun, hip place to work with vegetarian and vegan options, fresh meats, and veggies at an affordable price. However, behind the shiny veneer are rumblings that the California-founded grocery chain embraced racist stereotypes in its branding and crushing the power of unionizing within its employee ranks, taking unapologetic stances on both those points. In a new piece by the Los Angeles Times, the company’s culture of Hawaiian shorts and peppy workers happy to point you to their latest snacks and precooked meal options is juxtaposed against Trader Joe’s use of names and imagery deemed insensitive by some, most especially in the wake of recent protests. From the Times: The controversy flared last month aft...

Roger Waters Revives Two Deep Cuts From Pink Floyd’s The Wall

Roger Waters continues his series of socially distant performances with two deep cuts from Pink Floyd’s 1979 LP, The Wall: “Vera” and “Bring the Boys Back Home.” “The Vera in question is Vera Lynn. She was an English singer, songwriter, very popular during the Second World War,” Waters said in a statement. “Her biggest hit was “We’ll meet again”. She was widely known as the “Forces’ Sweetheart”. Our Vera, who is very fondly remembered back in Blighty, died six weeks ago aged 103. So she had a bloody good innings, bless her.” The performance transitions from “Vera” into a grand orchestral rendition of “Bring the Boys Back Home.” The latter features the smooth and seamless harmonies of Lucius̵...

Bad Religion Unveil New Symphonic Version of Against the Grain’s “Faith Alone”

The punk legends in Bad Religion released a new, symphonic take on one of their classic tracks. Rather than the traditional combination of two guitars, a bass, and drums backing Greg Graffin’s vocals, the iconic singer is alone with a piano for the beginning of “Faith Alone” (originally on 1990’s Against the Grain) before being joined by strings. Considering the track’s chorus of “faith alone won’t sustain us anymore,” the 30-year-old tune is prophetically appropriate to revamp for the chaos that 2020 has brought — and it even makes use of appropriate social distancing as Graffin, Bad Religion co-mastermind Brett Gurewitz, drummer Jamie Miller, one-man orchestra Stevie Blacke (Beck, Lady Gaga, Garbage), and producer Carlos de la Garza recorded the entire...

Project Cars 3 Is Coming to Xbox One, Playstation 4 First—Not Series X or PS5

Microsoft just dropped a new trailer for the new Project Cars 3 video game, and we’re just as excited by this as we were when the new Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport games were announced. There is one big difference, however: Project Cars 3 isn’t a next-generation game like its well-established counterparts, destined for the newest Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 consoles. Instead, the newest installment of Project Cars will likely be the last major racing game released for today’s Xbox One and Playstation 4. Project Cars 3 should be quite the treat for those of you—so, well, all of you—with current-generation consoles, giving gamers/racers one last hurrah. The previous Project Cars games featured a truly incredible amount of customization, something that has made the f...
