Josh Homme dusted off a Them Crooked Vultures deep cut during Lollapalooza’s virtual festival on Thursday, playing a solo acoustic version of “Spinning in Daffodils.” The Queens of the Stone Age frontman, sporting a regal mustache and beard, tackled the track in a backyard-type setting, cranking out dusty, knotty riffs on his Gibson. Michigan native Iggy Pop recruits soccer fans to support Detroit City FC in a new ad promoting the team’s crowdfunding equity campaign. “You’ve been saying ‘we’ for years,” the Stooges singer intones in the clip. “‘We are the pride of this city.’ ‘We don’t march to anyone’s drum but our own.’ ‘We are City ’til we die.’ Now it’s time to own up. Be an owner of Detroit City FC.” Detroit City launched the campaign on Thursday as a fundraising measure to help renovate their stadium, expand their staff, and create a reserve fund during the financial challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. When Lollapalooza moved its festival from Grant Park in Chicago to everyone’s computer screens due to the pandemic, the longtime music fest also promised the return of Porno For Pyros. And last night (July 31), the original members — Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins and Peter DiStefano with Mike Watt (a member of PFP in 1996-1997) — delivered. The set took place in a Southern California backyard and was performed acoustically. TMZ is reporting that Dr. Dre has finally answered his soon-to-be ex-wife’s petition for divorce. In his answer filed by Disso Queen Laura Wasser, Dre states he has no problem providing spousal support for Wolf. But when it comes to deciding who gets what when it comes to property distribution that will be “governed by their prenuptial agreement,” the celebrity gossip site reports. However, fellow White Supremacist Donald Trump is still on app acting a fool, per usual. According to the Verge, Duke—a notable fan of Cheeto—got the boot for “repeated violations of the Twitter Rules on hateful conduct” according to a spokesperson from Twitter. Duke had almost 54,000 followers when his Twitter account was shuttered. As for Donald Trump, he currently has 84.4 million followers tuning in to his daily drivel. Mastodon Announce ‘Medium Rarities’ LP, Share Ferocious Song ‘Fallen Torches’
Mastodon issued a previously unreleased song, the ferocious “Fallen Torches,” and announced a new compilation LP, Medium Rarities. The album, which follows 2017’s Emperor of Sand, is out on Sept. 11 via Reprise Records. “Fallen Torches,” like most of the set’s other rare tunes, makes its digital debut. Mastodon recorded the song last year in Atlanta, recruiting guest vocals from Neurosis’ Scott Kelly, their longtime friend and collaborator. The band originally planned to issue the track in support of a European tour, but they held off in order to focus on Stairway to Nick John, a tribute to their late longtime manager Nick John. Despite occupying the top slot in General Motors’ brand hierarchy, Cadillac won’t get the first electric vehicle from GM’s dedicated new electric vehicle architecture. That honor goes to GMC, which is getting the 2022 Hummer EV SUT, an electric pickup that goes into production in the fall of 2021, and which will be followed later by an SUV.
