We’ve been pining for a new Suzuki Jimny to be sent to America for years, and our lust only intensified when the newest model arrived this year. Here is a small, lightweight, four-cylinder 4×4 that’s basic and cheap, exactly what Jeep’s Wrangler used to be before it swelled to fit ever-swelling American bodies and the comfort and convenience items they demand. What makes the Jimny’s absence from our market hurt all the more is that its ancestor was long ago sold here. Remember the Samurai? Anyway, we managed to get our hands on a Kinetic Suzuki Jimny for a little test—and we do mean “little.” Okay, if you’ve been looking at the photos here, you may have caught onto our gambit: The Jimny we tested isn’t exactly full-scale. It’s...
Let’s get this over with at the jump: Codemasters’ F1 2020 is the best F1 video game to ever hit home-gaming consoles, period, and you should buy it now if you haven’t already. That’s my visceral gut reaction after spending a good chunk of time with the title that released on July 10. It’s not a proclamation I make lightly. Racing gamers are a massively discerning lot, and hardcore Formula 1 fans might be even more demanding when it comes to how companies virtually depict their favorite form of motorsport. Throughout the past several decades, F1 games have been all over the map in terms of realism, playability, and pure fun. Take a spin through online forums devoted to racing games/simulators—any racing game—and you’ll find a seemingly never-ending strea...
Canadian singer-songwriter Scott Helman is honoring his late “Papa” with a poignant new single. The vulnerable tune finds the 24-year-old remembering happy childhood moments with his grandfather, who died in June 2019. “Remember the way you drove those London roads, had to hold on for my life / You were like fee-fi-fo-fum coming up the stairs / We’d laugh, me and Jack, saying, ‘Papa I’m scared’ / Now I’m really scared,” he mellifluously sings in the chorus against a soft, nostalgic instrumental. The song ends with a voicemail, in which Helman’s Papa is heard saying, “OK, I’ll speak to you perhaps, tomorrow morning. OK I loves you darling.” In a tweet, the singer revealed that the voicemail is one his grandfather &...
On Friday (July 24) evening, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 crowned a winner-winner chicken dinner. After a performance to RuPaul’s “Clap Back” that found each finalist delivering their own lyrics and executing some seriously sickening choreo courtesy Billboard cover star Todrick Hall, the final three – Jujubee, Miz Cracker and Shea Couleé – lip synched to LGBTQ icon Janelle Monae’s “Make Me Feel” to secure the top spot in the Drag Race hall of fame. Dripping in blue and white eleganza, Couleé secured the top spot after a near miss in season 9, which famously saw Sasha Velour (rose) petal her way to the crown during a Whitney Houston lip sync. This time, however, the “Collide” singer nabbed the crown. “Two time’s the ...
Spoilers ahead for the finale of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5’ At long last, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 has come to an end — after a smashing performance to RuPaul’s new song “Clap Back,” and one final lip sync to Janelle Monáe’s “Make Me Feel,” RuPaul declared the winner … season 9’s Shea Couleé! Considered a favorite to win from the moment she entered the work room, the 31-year-old drag star proved each episode why that was the case. Snatching two challenge wins, and winning every lip sync she performed in, Couleé was considered such a threat that there was even a plotline about queens potentially conspiring to eliminate her as the biggest threat in the competition. “My drag, in its purest form, is a love letter to black women,” Couleé explained on the main stage...
Berlin’s economic minister Romona Pop is calling upon district mayors to help revive their suffering club scene. “Clubs and bars are suffering economically during the corona crisis,” Pop told the Berliner Morgenpost. That’s why, in addition to providing immediate aid, we want to create legal opportunities to party in public areas for the clubs and Berliners.” “Unfortunately, the time window for this is short, as the summer months are of central importance for open-air festivals,” she continued. “It is therefore important to quickly put the industry in a position to realize at least part of its revenues via open-air events this summer.” Clubs in the city closed on March 14th, 2020. While some have reopened and throw...
Source: DEREK R. HENKLE / Getty Mayor Lori Lightfoot ordered crews to temporarily remove statues of Christopher Columbus from Grant and Arrigo parks in Chicago to thwart hostile confrontations between protestors and police. Since July 18, protesters tried to forcefully remove a tarp-covered statue in Grant Park, sparking a violent clash with Chicago police. The demonstration initially started at Buckingham Fountain to protest defunding the police, but quickly turned hostile as the crowd grew. Activists staged a protest in front of Lightfoot’s home overnight. As a result, the shook Mayor buckled to pressure and immediately ordered the removal of the controversial statue in Little Italy hours later. And just like that – by the cover of darkness – Chicago’s Colum...
Source: Gilbert Carrasquillo / Getty The e-beef continues to escalate between Joe Budden and Gillie Da Kid. One of the former’s most embarrassing moments might get revisited for the world to see. The spark, this time, was over that time Gillie Da Kid went All Lives Matter. Note, it turns out that was a four-year-old clip of Gillie. Nevertheless, Budden and co. commented on it. [embedded content] As spotted on HipHopDX the Philadelphia MC shot back at Joe on the newest installment of his Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. On episode 70 he addressed him directly with a very clear threat of putting him on blast. “You keep talking sh*t ni*** and the next episode I’m putting it the f*** out,” Gillie said. “They walked in because you was talking crazy about them ni****. And then a ni*** ...
Source: Black Soprano Family / BSF It’s been more than a decade since HBO’s hit series The Sopranos went off the air with a disappointing and lackluster series finale episode, but it seems like it’s still resonating with some heads as today as The Black Soprano Family look to pick up where Tony left off. Linking up with Benny The Butcher, Heem, Rick Hyde and DJ Drama for the black-and-white clip to “It’s Over,” the Black Soprano Family and company get in character with some OG mobster attire and Tommy guns on their persons while flossing ice that the likes of Al Capon and Lucky Lucciano would’ve only dreamt of. Elsewhere Gunna and Young Thug turn a lilly white neighborhood upside down as they get turnt up and show their neighbors how to really get down in their clip to “Dollaz On My Head.”...
BMW loves its special editions, and the company has rolled out some dark-themed schemes as of late, including the almost unseeable Vantablack X6 and the 8 Series Golden Thunder edition. But it seems the Munich-based automaker isn’t letting up, and it’s just taken the wraps off the BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition. Essentially, the Dark Shadow Edition is an eight-cylinder X7 M50i with a lot of blacked-out bits to give it a stealthier vibe. The paint, however, isn’t black. Wait, what? No, really—this special X7 is coated in matte Frozen Arctic Grey Metallic. Even though the color is an option in BMW’s Individual catalog, the company says this is its first SUV to wear the hue. In photos, it at least appears very close to black. The mirror caps, window surround, roof rails, a...
Today is a big day for Xbox fans all over the world. Microsoft teased a number of games for their next console, the Xbox Series X, including legendary titles such as Halo and Tetris, but the one we’re most interested in is, of course, Forza Motorsport. It will be the first Forza game to bear the classic Motorsport subtitle since 2017, and it already looks spectacular. While the trailer doesn’t display the same degree of variety in cars and locations that Sony showed in its new Gran Turismo trailer a few weeks ago, what we can see is extremely rich in detail. Check out the teaser below for a stunning look and what racing-sim fans now have to look forward to. The engine bay of a Mazda RT24-P, a BAC Mono sitting in a garage, and a slew of Apollo Intensa Emozione’s racing thr...
