EDC Korea is the latest major festival brand to wave the white flag due to the impact of COVID-19. The Korean edition of Insomniac‘s flagship festival series was scheduled to take place August 15th to 16th, 2020, but those dates have now been abandoned. Organizers took to Instagram to announce the solemn news. “The well-being of our fans has always been our number one priority,” the post reads. “Though the world is moving in a more positive direction, it is still too early for us to gather at EDC Korea 2020 on our scheduled dates. While we are all disappointed by this outcome, we are excited to shift our focus to creating an unforgettable experience at next year’s festival. We send our full support to all of the hard-working medical personnel during these times...
Since the relentless wrath of COVID-19 obliterated the prospect of graduation ceremonies across the globe, many universities were forced to funnel them digitally as their students were forced to quarantine. IE University took the concept of virtual graduation to the next level by teaming up with Dim Mak boss Steve Aoki, who delivered a rip-roaring DJ set straight from his own studio to celebrate the school’s graduating seniors. The performance took place after students received their diplomas via an immersive online graduation ceremony. According to the university’s website, 7,000 students from 140 countries were invited to tune in and dance along in celebration of their graduation. Based in Segovia and Madrid, IE University offers both undergraduate and graduate degr...
A pair of Chevrolet Silverado heavy-duty pickups took center stage on the White House lawn yesterday as part of a theatrical ploy to show off the “burden of regulations,” per CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller. Knoller tweeted out a photo of the blue and red Chevy trucks, the former of which carried proverbial—and, well, literal—regulatory weights in its bed. Where the White House sourced the trucks remains a mystery. MotorTrend reached out to both General Motors and the Office of Management and Budget for clarification to determine if the trucks were supplied by the manufacturer. However, we have yet to receive a concrete answer from either GM or the OMB. Our colleagues at Jalopnik, though, received word from a GM spokesperson that the company was...
Like any good enthusiast car to come out of Japan, the Subaru WRX has so many variants it takes some real study to get all the permutations down. But if you ask a Subaru nut what the greatest road-going Impreza of all time is, you’re likely to get a humble-sounding model as the answer: 22B. And you’ll likely get that answer very, very quickly. The reason for the 22B’s hold on Subie fans? A combination of extreme rarity, WRC rally car looks, and hints that it might be even more formidable than Subaru claims. For one, only 424 were built—400 for Japan, 16 for the U.K., five for Australia, and three prototypes. That’s it. And those looks, sure, Subaru has the WRC cred to back them up. The 22B was built to celebrate three consecutive FIA World Championship tit...

From son jarocho to mariachi, Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy in the Bay Area and the Mariachi Heritage Foundation in Chicago are preserving and keeping traditional Mexican sounds alive through music programs and young musicians. The importance of cultural preservation, specifically sounds that aren’t considered mainstream or don’t get much radio airplay, is what motivated Eugene Rodriguez (founder of Los Cenzontles) and Cesar Maldonado (Mariachi Heritage Foundation) to launch their music programs. “It was a way of connecting my Mexican side to my American side,” says Rodriguez, a musician and educator. “And it just became so natural for me to want to keep this music alive and to see younger people engaged and excited about, makes me happy.” ...

From house t...

Featuring: Donald Trump Where: Fussa, Tokio, Japan When: 05 Nov 2017 Credit: Kento Nara/Future Image/WENN.com Given Donald Trump‘s well-documented history of racism and bigotry, we all knew that the man-child who referred to Black and Latin countries as “sh*t holes” and said all Haitians had A.I.D.S. must’ve used the N-word throughout his life as much as your favorite rapper. Though he’s yet to be caught on tape using the racial slur (Ronan Farrow where you at?!), his niece, Mary Trump has confirmed that she herself has heard her infamous uncle use the word along with anti-semitic slurs in private. Last night (July16) the least hated Trump in the world sat down with Rachel Maddow...
Source: Victoria McGraw @victoriasaidit / Radio 1 Digital Mo’Nique has been given the green light to do battle on that hill. A judge has allowed the Oscar-winning actress and comedienne to proceed with her discrimination lawsuit against Netflix. In case you forgot, back in 2018, Mo’Nique got big mad when she felt that Netflix was short-changing her when it came to paying her for a comedy special. Not many people were checking for a boycott of their beloved Netflix, but she went ahead and sued the streaming service anyway for racial and gender discrimination. Mo’Nique, born Monique Hicks, claims Netflix offered her $500,000 for a Netflix comedy special in 2017. When she balked and wanted more dough, she says they didn’t even bother to counter-offer. According to her lawsuit, that isn’t stan...

Source: The Washington Post / Getty The Washington NFL Team is once again in the news for causing offense, but this time it’s not over their racist name. On Thursday (Jul 16), The Washington Post broke the news of the allegation that the senior staffers of the Washington NFL Team were being accused of sexual assault by more than 15 women. Accompanied by both testimonies and screenshots of text messages, the expose revealed text messages in which the team’s assistant director of pro personnel, Richard Mann II, made inappropriate, and sexual comments to a female employee. In one text message posted in the expose, Mann told a female employee he and his colleagues debated whether her breasts had been surgically enhanced and in another text message told another female employee to expect a...
