Roy Orbison’s granddaughter Emily Orbison has welcomed a baby girl, and she’s already paying tribute to her late great grandpa. The family posted the happy news with some adorable photos on the official Roy Orbison Twitter account Sunday afternoon (July 12). “We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Ruby Kate. She was born on June 20,2020 at 11:36am. Ruby is Roy Orbison’s first great grandchild. Welcome to the family, Ruby!! We love you more than anything,” the announcement said. In the pictures, baby Emily joins the family tradition of wearing cool dark glasses — and looks pretty cute doing so. Orbison, who passed away in 1988, had started wearing his trademark glasses while on a U.K. tour with the Beatles in 1963. As his sons recounted in their book The ...
Jarvis Cocker gave quite the graphic analogy in a new interview. During a chat with The Sunday Times, the Pulp frontman compared fame to pornography. And honestly, it makes perfect sense. “It was a very strange time for me because I’d achieved my lifetime’s ambition and then found that it didn’t satisfy me,” he said when reflecting on the celebrity that followed Pulp’s 1995 hit “Common People.” He continued by saying fame “reminded me of pornography. Of how pornography takes an amazing thing – love between two people expressed physically – and kind of grosses it out.” The time was a confusing one for Cocker, who recalled thinking “What am I gonna believe in now?” He clearly figured it out though, because 25 years later and the 56-year-old is still making music. On Saturday, Cocke...
Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty By now, plenty of you have seen Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith’s instantly infamous Red Table Talk where she revealed her and August Alsina were indeed in an entanglement. The sensitivity of the topic, which has now been shared with the world, didn’t stop 50 Cent from trolling Will. The Queens rapper shared an exchange between him and the I, Robot actor. After asking if Smith was okay and receiving an affirmative, Fif went in. “But why she tell you that sh*t on a show for everybody to see?,” asked 50 and Will retorted with, “We broke up, so she did her and I did me.” Most people would stop right there. But this is 50 Cent. He then added, “Then she said only SHE can give permission for somebody to blow her back out,” and Will hit him back with “F*ck you 50.” ...
Source: ALEX EDELMAN / Getty Donald Trump, the racist President of the United States, finally wore a mask in public on Saturday (July 11). It happened to finally occur only after 132,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the nation. The Orange Oaf donned the mask while visiting Walter Reed hospital. Reports the New York Times: President Trump on Saturday wore a mask in public for the first time, after repeated urging from aides that it was a necessary message to send to Americans. Mr. Trump wore a dark mask affixed with the presidential seal during a visit to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He was surrounded by Secret Service agents and others also wearing masks. The president had repeatedly dismissed suggestions that he should wear a face covering, frequ...

Source: Prince Williams / Getty We absolutely hate reporting this type of news. Quality Control rapper Lil Marlo was murdered in Atlanta last night (July 12) in the early morning hours. Marlo, born Rudolph Johnson, ran with Lil Baby and the two actually dropped a mixtape a few years ago called 2 The Hard Way. While Lil Baby’s career has taken off, many pegged Marlo as being next in line to blow on QC’s roster. Sadly, Marlo was reportedly shot and killed last night on a Georgia highway. Per TMZ, the cops responded to a call at 2:06 am Sunday morning about a car accident on I-285 in downtown Atlanta. They found Marlo shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cops have barely any details about how it all went down. Just IN: Atlanta Rapper Rudolph “Lil Marlo” Johnson, ...

An induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame may be the highest achievable accolade for recording artists in our time. A multitude of instantly recognizable artists and bands like The Beach Boys, KISS, Madonna, and Public Enemy have all received the honor, and in 2020, even more artists will join their ranks. Every year, the induction ceremony takes place at a live event, complete with concert performances and festivities. However, amid the social distancing regulations contrived by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony has moved to a view-only format, being broadcast via HBO special in accordance with government-mandated safety precautions. Among this year’s inductees are Depeche Mode, the trailblazing electronic music outfit who changed rock music forever. Depe...

It’s hard to put a finger on exactly why driving a car with a manual transmission is so much fun. Is it the control you feel selecting your own gears, that visceral connection formed between human and machine? Is it the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing more work than 90 percent of other drivers on the road? Is it the challenge of gently feathering the clutch with your left foot and modulating the throttle as you creep uphill in bumper-to-bumper traffic with your right, knowing one slip-up could stall your engine and invite ridicule and embarrassment? For the enthusiast, maybe—but for non-enthusiasts wary of the work involved, that last scenario is perhaps most triggering. And Hyundai knows it. The folks at Hyundai Motor India have come up with a solution to the clutch-pedal...
I know. I was there. When Google threw us some money in 2011 to help make YouTube more than just a platform for shaky lo-fi user-generated videos about laughing babies and dancing cats, I decided the MotorTrend Channel would be like a proper automotive TV channel, something I’d dreamed about doing for decades. It would have TV-length, TV-style shows covering everything from new vehicles to hot rods to four-wheel drives to motorcycles. Some shows would be weekly, some monthly, but to keep the channel relevant and interesting, a fresh show would be uploaded every day, five days a week. I came up with a complete slate of programs, outlining the show formats, who the on-screen personalities should be (no pretty-boy TV talking heads reading scripts, but staffers who’d actually know ...
