My Morning Jacket last released an album of new material in 2015. If you don’t remember, because you know, the world has changed, that one was titled The Waterfall. And now, part two is on the way. The group will release The Waterfall II this Friday (July 10) via ATO Records. In a release, the band was inspired by the band’s idyllic surroundings in Stinson Beach, which is just north of San Francisco, and that the original The Waterfall LP was supposed to be a massive double album. Instead, it’s in two parts. Jim James was inspired to release the second part after stumbling upon a song from those sessions while on a walk. Inspired by the rediscovery of “Spinning My Wheels,” James and company decided to release the remaining songs from the sessions. “As so many of us feel out ...

Following his return to the group following an indefinite hiatus, fabled Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is excited about the band’s prospects and its willingness to feature electronic influences. In a recent interview with Ele-King, Frusciante offered up some exciting news on the band’s forthcoming music, exulting in his reunion and asserting his intention to dabble in electronic music. “That’s right. I came back to the band because I knew that I could continue to play electronic music, and I have the leeway to get along,” he said. Let’s face it, the name “2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat” really lacks length and gravitas, especially for something with 707 horsepower. Luckily, Dodge has rectified that situation, adding one more word to the moniker—Redeye—while also pouring 90 more horsepower into this four-door doom sled. Still, you had to see this coming. After all, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat offers a Redeye version (the most powerful iteration since the demise of the Demon) and shouldn’t the mechanically similar, four-door Charger sedan be extended the same opportunity? It’s also in keeping with the Dodge playbook of keeping its relatively aged lineup of cars fresh by constantly pumping them full of ‘roids. And so the 2021 Dodge Charger Redeye offers 797 h...
Maserati’s not dead yet, and the Italian automaker hopes its upcoming MC20 supercar proves it’s still got some fight left in it. While Maserati’s yet to reveal its new model, the brand is finally showing off what will power the mid-engined car. Meet the Nettuno, Maserati’s new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine. Armed with 621 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque, the engine—which Maserati plans to produce in Modena, Italy—is sure to push the MC20 to triple-digit speeds with relative ease. Thanks to its 90-degree architecture, 11.0:1 compression ratio, and surely rev-happy nature (power peaks at 7,500 rpm), the Nettuno engine will likely sound as good—if not better—as the forthcoming MC20 ought to look. See all 18 photos Given Maserati’s desire to enter the MC...
Kanye West is up against some big competition this November (and we’re not talking about Joe Biden and Donald Trump). After the rapper announced his presidential run on the Fourth of July, Tiffany Haddish couldn’t help but troll. “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” Haddish tweeted, copying the exact verbiage West used in his own announcement. The actress also had her running mate locked down, revealing that she has chosen Dave Chappelle as her vice president. “Well this just in Dave Chappelle will be my running mate #2020Vision,” she wrote, before adding, “So #HaddishChappelle2020.” See the whole string of tweets below. Well...
Paul Weller shouts to the top of the U.K. midweek chart with On Sunset (Polydor), his fifteenth solo album. The former Style Council and The Jam frontman takes the lead on the Official Chart Update, with a 11,000 chart sales advantage over its nearest competitor, Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon (Republic Records). If On Sunset holds its position when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published this Friday (July 10), it’ll be Weller’s first leader since Sonik Kicks opened at the summit, eight years ago. On Sunset will be the veteran British artist’s 20th solo Top 10 album, and it’s the best-seller across physical albums and downloads in the first half of the chart cycle. Pop Smoke’s debut comes in at No. 2 on the midweek albums chart, and three songs ...

Sec. of State Mike Pompeo said that the U.S. would “certainly look at” banning Chinese social media apps including short-form video app TikTok over national security and privacy concerns. “With respect to Chinese apps on people’s cell phones, I can assure you the United States will get this one right too,” Pompeo said in an interview on Monday’s episode of Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. “I don’t want to get out in front of the president, but it’s something we’re looking at.” Pompeo added that people should only download TikTok “if you want your private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.” The news comes as TikTok increasingly looks to distance itself from its parent company Beijing-based...
