Ariana Grande & Lady Gaga’s ‘Rain on Me’ Is Here: Listen

Two pop queens have at last crossed paths in the highly anticipated “Rain on Me,” which dropped on Friday (May 22). The song showcases both Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga‘s unmatched vocals, and comes just one week after the duo announced the release date for their high-profile collab. “I said to her, ‘OK, now everything that you care about while you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing,'” Gaga recently told Zane Lowe of the collaboration on Apple Music. “‘And by the way, while you’re doing that, I’m going to dance in front of you. And she was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God, I can’t, I can’t. I don’t know. Oh my God. OK, OK.’ And then I did it and she sang, and she started to do things with her voice...

Green Day Cover Blondie’s ‘Dreaming’

Billie Joe Armstrong has been on a roll when it comes to cover songs. His No Fun Mondays have seen him run through a number of covers spanning different eras and apparently that’s translated over to his band. Green Day shared their version of Blondie’s “Dreaming,” which comes from the band’s 1979 album of the same name. The clip for the song opens with a dog staring lonely into the abyss (a lot like us) dreaming of days gone by, which in this case, means going to big concerts (or any really). It features footage of the band on the road and performing live and dreaming of days gone by. Green Day was one of the first bands to change their touring schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic. Their latest album, Father of All…, was released in February. Read our interview with the ...

Watch Big 1970s Cars Decimate Their Smaller Siblings in Vintage Crash Test Footage

You might remember that a while back, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crashed a few modern cars into their vintage counterparts to show, in part, how far crash safety had progressed. But what stuck in our minds wasn’t how intact the passenger cells of the modern cars remained, but rather how mangled the old cars were. We’re thinking in particular of the ’59 Bel Air slamming into a 2009 Malibu, and the Nissan Tsuru (an early 1990s Sentra sold in Mexico until 2017) crashing into a modern Sentra. Yowzers. How about two 1970s-vintage cars crashing into each other? And make one of them full-sized in the 1970s sense of the term—aircraft carriers, basically—and the other the relevant company’s compact. We’re talking about the Ford Pinto, Chevrolet Vega, an...

Cuomo and his bandmates were supposed to hit the road this summer with Green Day and Fall Out Boy for the Hella Mega Tour, but, like almost everything else, it was pushed to 2o21. Tipping his cap to (one of) his tourmates, Cuomo covered Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” He was joined by his wife on piano. “Hey guys, so sorry about the postponement of HELLA MEGA. Here’s an acoustic cover of Green Day’s Time of your Life. (My wife joined me!) Next summer we shall rock,” Cuomo said in a tweet. Hey guys, so sorry about the postponement of HELLA MEGA. Why Madonna Brought 14 Cape Verdean Drummers on Tour – And What They Taught Her

In 2017, Madonna thought she was moving to Portugal to “be a soccer mom,” but instead, the 61-year-old icon found inspiration for her then-upcoming album, Madame X, thanks to a friend she calls her “musical plug,” Dino d’Santiago. One night, the Cape Verde-born, Lisbon-based singer — who coached Madonna on how to speak Portuguese and sing in Portuguese and Creole — had arranged a concert for her by Batukadeiras Orquesta, a group of female drummers specializing in batuka, a rhythmic call-and-response style created in Cape Verde during the early days of the slave trade. “I’d never seen anything like it, never heard anything like it. So of course, I couldn’t get it out of my head,” says Madonna. She invited several members of the collective to perform on her album and even brought some to the...

How Tom Holkenborg Returned to His Dance Music Roots for the Score of a New Netflix Series

In 1998, Ibiza was becoming one of the world’s freshest and most exciting destinations for dance music. The music was new, the nights were long and the tan lines were deep. Tom Holkenborg was there, performing sets under his DJ name Junkie XL. In the decades that have followed, Holkenborg’s career has evolved from producing tracks to scoring, with his work soundtracking dozens of movies and television shows including Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool, The Dark Tower, Terminator: Dark Fate and the recently released Scooby Doo flick, Scoob! But arguably, none of these projects have fused Holkenborg’s history as a DJ with this current profession as well as his recent project White Lines. Premiering on Netflix May 15, the series tells the story of a woman who t...
