Hummer just teased a brief photo and video showing the open-air roof of the forthcoming 1,000-hp GMC-badged Hummer EV, with no further explanation or clarification as to how this roof works, what it looks like with the panels in place, or even whether this roof belongs to the promised pickup or the promised SUV model. Such a roof could be applied to either—or, hopefully, both, just as Jeep‘s Wrangler 4×4 and Wrangler-esque Gladiator pickup both offer topless options. From the look of it, the GMC Hummer’s open roof design involves removable panels. There is a traditional “basket handle” structure where the B-pillars would be—the roof pillars just behind the front seats—that allows for complete removal of the roof over the front seats, though we can’t ...
The future for General Motors includes hands-free driving everywhere, a top executive said in regards to company plans to expand the capabilities of its Super Cruise system. The hands-free driving feature currently works on pre-mapped highways. Taking hands-free driving to the streets is the next logical evolution of the technology and GM has a big team working on it. The setup is referred to as Ultra Cruise, was formally announced by GM’s Doug Parks at the Citi 2020 Car of the Future Symposium. “Ultra Cruise’s domain would essentially be all driving, all the time,” Parks said. “Ultra Cruise would be all [that] Super Cruise [offers], plus neighborhoods, cities, subdivisions.” Unfortunately, Parks was light on details, such as when Ultra Cruise will reach...
Ever since its inception, when promoters promised to preserve “old-time music,” country has been a genre built upon the past. Whether it’s recounting childhood events in the lyrics or borrowing the phrasing and technique from its predecessors, each generation has managed to bring history into the here and now. With “Every Other Memory,” Ryan Hurd accomplishes that in two ways as the song’s protagonist recalls an old flame through a mental scrapbook of their time together. And one of the specific images is an Eric Church concert, which pays homage to one of Hurd’s real-life icons. “I really love leaning on nostalgia,” says Hurd. “It’s just such a huge part of our genre, and I kind of picked pictures, like emojis sort of, so that every line is a snapshot.” Every lyrical line owes a debt to t...
“Any new service that Big Hit will present all starts from our business philosophy of ‘What content will fans enjoy the most?'” A decade into his tenure at Big Hit Entertainment, Lenzo Yoon is gearing up for some big moves — both in the company and in his personal life. One of the biggest takeaways of last week’s executive changeups at Big Hit Entertainment — the South Korean label home to the record-breaking BTS, Tomorrow X Together and GFriend — came in co-CEO Lenzo Yoon’s expanding his role to Global CEO and soon leading from the United States. The move not only pointed to a more global outlook for the company (which had its biggest year ever with a record $500 million in revenue in 2019), but also that it was official...
Saint Lane is overdue some good luck. In 2019, the Gold Coast-based rapper lost his dad, and had a painful experience with three friends which, as a result, he no longer calls “mates”. Last year was “the worst year of my life,” he admits. And this year, well, it’s bad for everyone. Lane was traveling in Canada when the coronavirus emergency was upgraded to a pandemic, and on his return to Australia, Lane was quarantined in a room for two weeks. As creatives tend to do, he used his time to make stuff. With a mic and a laptop, he reached out to musician and comedian friends, including Lime Cordiale and Hayden James, for a special isolation podcast. One of his amusing go-to questions was a gag about locating the cure for coronavirus (it’s always plain sight, just to your left). Those wo...
Singer-songwriter Crush is back with a new single after releasing his last studio album, From Midnight to Sunrise, five months ago. The South Korean musician, who is known for being inspired by things in ordinary life such as the Han River at dawn or his pet dogs, focuses on the theme of “home” for his newest project, titled Homemade. New singles will be released back-to-back, the first of which is “Mayday,” out today (May 21). The new song has been long anticipated by fans, especially since the announcement that Joy from Red Velvet would be the featured artist. Fans became even more curious when cute selfies of the two artists together appeared on both of their Instagram accounts, accompanied by comments on how lucky they were to collaborate with each oth...
Wilco appeared on tonight’s edition of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as the musical guests, of course, remotely. But before the band’s performance airs, a clip of Jeff Tweedy performing a solo version of “Jesus Etc” was shared on the show’s YouTube page. Wilco is supposed to hit the road with Sleater-Kinney this summer (in August more specifically), but like everything else right now, it seems extremely unlikely that will happen. Wilco’s latest album, Ode to Joy, was released last October. The band appeared on The Late Show in conjunction with the release. Revisit our interview with Tweedy and Nels Cline here. Check it out Tweedy’s solo rendition of the Yankee Foxtrot Hotel track below. [embedded content] You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are l...
Last month, we reported on Excision‘s announcement of a new livestream series, which was revealed following a wildly successful three-day Couch Lands virtual event that re-broadcasted many past live sets from his bass music festival Lost Lands. Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz Does 50 Cent have goons down under? An Australian artist who has been masterfully trolling the Queens rappers with viral murals claims he was assaulted because of his art. Tuesday (May.20), the artist who goes by the name of Lushsux shared a screenshot of one of 50’s latest social media posts Instagram and in the caption claimed he was put in the hospital by “6 or 7” goons. The picture was one of his murals that was a mashup of the “Wanksta” rapper and Mike Tyson that hilariously worked very well together. The post also featured another photo of him on what appears to be a hospital bed with a bloody pillow. “50 seems to want some more walls? Unfortunately, some 6 or 7 smoothebrains at one time on the street already put me in hospital already th...
Gotta give it to Tory Lanez. Even during this quarantining period which has slowed up many artists grinds around the game, he’s not only managed to keep himself in the spotlight with his Quarantine Radio live shows, but he’s even dropped a few visuals along the way. Today the Canadian crooner comes through with his latest clip to “Temperature Rising” where he not only ditches the whole notion of social distancing, but even swaps saliva with a sexy young lady. We hope she got tested for COVID-19 before they filmed this video, bro! Wonder if he found her on Quarantine Radio. Machine Gun Kelly meanwhile continues to go the Hip-Pop or Rock-Pop route and for his visuals to “Bloody Valentine” finds himself at the mercy of an abusive Megan Fox. Not many men would complain about being in such a “d...
Last season’s Succession had its fair share of moments, but none was quite as, uh, interesting as when Kendall Roy (for a lack of a better term) let loose with a freestyle that was supposed to pay tribute to his father Logan “L to the OG.” Now, you can listen to that moment without having to scroll through the episode (and/or YouTube). HBO released a version of that, which features the vocals of Jeremy Strong and musical composition by Nicholas Britell. And, it’s just as cringeworthy as you remember when it first happened. For those of you unfamiliar, here are some of the lyrics: “Bro, don’t get it twisted, I’ve been through hell / But since I stan Dad, I’m alive and well. Shaper of views, creator of news / Father of many, paid all his dues. The Succession Season 2 soundtrack is ...
