HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Cole Burston / Getty Over the weekend Drake celebrated his 35th year on this earth and to get things popping the King of The North threw himself a Narcos themed birthday bash which featured tons of ice, cake, and celebrity peers. Titled “Chico Amante” which means “Lover Boy” in Spanish, the lavish soiree featured bricks of fake cocaine (was it though?), and had guests dressed down as Mexican cartel street soldiers with Drizzy partaking in the costume festivities himself. Showing up in denim attire with cowboy boots and a cowboy hat to resemble a drug lord south of the border, Drake was looking like someone of interest to the FBI or something. That’s pretty damn funny. With friends like YG, Future and Draya Michele coming out to play, Drizzy had a he...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Courtesy Sotheby’s / Sotheby’s If you happen to have any game-worn kicks donned by Michael Jordan himself in your collection, you’re sitting on millions. On Sunday, Oct. 24, a pair of Air Ships rocked by the GOAT in one of his earliest NBA games sold for a cool $1.47M. Source: Courtesy Sotheby’s / Sotheby’s The auction was handled by Sotheby’s—now clearly the purveyor of million-dollar kicks—at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Bloomberg reports that the buyer was Nick Fiorella, who is described as “a high-end cards collector.” That’s a card holder with plenty of banks. Related Stories Reportedly, the kicks were worn during just the 5th game (Nov. 1, 1984) of Michael Jordan’s career. Sneakerheads will recognize the white and red shoe not as his A...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: CBS News / CBS In one of the best stories to come out in this early part of the fall, a group of fathers tiring of the violence at a Louisiana high school have stepped up in a major way. After a series of violent incidents at Southwood High School, the dads put everything on the line and it appears that their presence alone has touched the hearts of not only the students but onlookers across the nation as well. CBS News published a report highlighting the violence and the arrest of 23 students in the span of three days along with several skirmishes on the grounds that were caught on video. Frustrated with the danger the students were putting themselves through, a group of around 40 fathers formed the Dads on Duty group and, amazingly, since th...

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Kevork Djansezian / Getty The Los Angeles Lakers opened up the 2021-22 NBA season as favorites to potentially win it all in the west after trading for Russell Westbrook and adding some other key pieces from teams past. However, the new-look Lake Show might have to talk some things out behind closed doors after big men Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard got into it on the bench. The Lakers are just two seasons out of winning the NBA championship and any team with LeBron James is a shoo-in to be a contender for the title. However, the young NBA season has proven already that what looks good on paper might not be good in reality. It should also be noted that the Lakers’ bench is a bit depleted as Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, Wayne Ellington, and Tr...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Aaron J. Thornton / Getty Lil Durk and India Royale let the world know they are still very much together.
