Marijuana Is Finally Legal In New York, Now What?

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bloomberg / Getty It’s a beautiful morning in New York for many herb enthusiasts now that the state has finally legalized recreational marijuana.  State legislations and Governor Andrew Cuomo made it official on Wednesday, allowing some parts of the legislation to take effect immediately. The New York Times breaks down what’s expected out of the new law and what it means to communities disproportionately hit by marijuana-related charges.  For starters, forty percent of the tax revenue from the sales will be earmarked for them. And for the people with marijuana-related offenses that are now legal, their records are automatically expunged.   In an even bigger win for the culture, the law allows people with past convictions and those invo...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: MSCHF / MSCHF Earlier this week Nike filed a lawsuit against MSCHF for their custom made Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes” and asked a judge to keep the designer company from filling orders of the limited edition sneakers. The judge temporarily granted their request. Limited to just 666 pairs, Lil Nas X fans and Satanists will have to wait longer than expected to get their pair of Air Satans, if ever. Naturally, Lil Nas X was upset that his collaboration with MSCHF has basically been canceled by Nike and blamed “the crying nerds on the internet” for having a t*tty attack over a pair of sneakers. Taking to Twitter to express his disappointment, the “Old Town Road” rapper/country artist stated “I haven’t been upset until today, i feel like it’s f*cked up they have s...

Justice Department officials have reason to believe that Greenberg met the women on sites where sex is exchanged for gifts, mo...

Kane Train: Freddie Gibbs Drops Off New “Big Boss Rabbit” Track

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Scott Dudelson / Getty Freddie Gibbs has been on a creative tear beginning with a run of acclaimed studio albums that began with his proper debut in ESGN back in 2013. It appears that the Gary, Ind. native is gearing up to deliver more of his razor-sharp lyrics and music on the back of a new single and video in “Big Boss Rabbit.” Fresh from having his collaborative project Alfredo with The Alchemist up for a Best Rap Album Grammy Award this year, Gibbs began dropping off singles not connected with Hooligan Al or Madlib’s hazy production behind him and opted to go into more traditional spaces beginning with last October’s “4 Thangs” with Hit-Boy and Big Sean. With “Big Boss Rabbit,” clearly a nod to Gibbs’ Vice Lords affiliation, Freddie Kane displays his ...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Alexi Rosenfeld / Getty Andrew Yang is either a breath of fresh air or another person with buckets of cash but way out of their political depth. With the race for the mayoral seat of New York City heating up, Yang enlists battle rap champion MC Jin for a campaign video that made its rounds on April Fool’s Day. MC Jin made history in the early 2000s as the first Asian American rapper to be signed to a major label deal but it didn’t lead to superstardom. However, the Miami, Fla. native stayed busy and kept pushing music, even relocating to Hong Kong for a spell before returning to America as a born-again Christian and even teasing returns to the battle rap stage. In the brief video, Jin is seen in the clip hawking CDs in New York, not unlike the cats that u...
