On Thursday (Sept 17), Trump announced that he would be creating a commission to promote “patriotic education” and adding that a grant program was developed to introduce a “pro-American curriculum.” The move is largely political — and a reaction to a growing push by some academics for schools to teach an American history that better acknowledges slavery and systemic racism. Family of Breonna Taylor Settle Wrongful Death Lawsuit For $12 Million

However, they have reached a settlement in the wrongful death civil suit filed against the city of Louisville. According to CNN, the family of Taylor and the city reached a $12 million settlement in the wrongful death case six months after the 26-year old EMT was murdered in her home while she slept. Alicia Keys is now working with the NFL to level the playing field for Black and Brown brands. Ronald “Khalis” Bell, Co-Founder Of Kool & The Gang, Dead At 68

Also known as Khalis Bayyan, the songwriter and composer founded the band alongside his brother, Robert “Kool” Bell. As reported by Billboard, Bell died suddenly Wednesday morning (Sept. 9) at his home in the U.S. Virgin Islands according to a statement issued by his publicist. The cause of death has not been shared publicly. Bell was born on Nov. 1, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio. After a brief stint in Long Island, N.Y., the family took residence in Jersey City, N.J. and connected with a group of friends influenced by jazz, soul, and funk.
