Arms dealer held with live cartridges in Cross River

The police in Cross River State have paraded Cyprian Mbe (52) for allegedly dealing in arms. He was arrested during a stop and search action by the police divisional patrol team in Etung Local Government Area. Mbe, a native of Bashia in Boki council, was arrested at the weekend with 299 live cartridges concealed in a black bag. Commissioner of Police, Abdulkadir Jimoh, who addressed reporters yesterday, said the suspect had been a gun runner and a promoter of communal wars in Etung. Jimoh said the police was still investigating to get more information about the suspect’s dealings and ‘he would be charged to court afterwards’. ‘Electronic voting, best option for credible polls’

An Oyo State politician, Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu, has called for the adoption of electronic voting in Nigeria’s electoral process. Segelu, who aspired for House of Representatives in 2015, said the plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to commence electronic voting with Anambra State governorship election next year was a good move. Post-UTME: UNIBEN promises to comply with coronavirus protocols

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) says it is ready to comply with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols on Coronavirus (COVID-19), ahead of its Post University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post–UTME) scheduled for Dec. 2. Dr Benedicta Ehanire, Public Relations Officer of the university, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Benin. UN: Over 110 people killed in attack on Borno rice field

United Nations (UN) has revealed that not less than 110 civilians were killed by Boko Haram in the attack on a rice field in Borno State. Earlier reports had put the death toll of Saturday’s deadly Boko Haram attack on rice field in Borno at 43 while several others were said to be missing. UNFPA set to inaugurate two youth-friendly centres

Wikipedia The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) says it will inaugurate additional two youth-friendly centres in Lagos State to enhance sexual and reproductive health information and services for youths. Its Head in Lagos Liaison Office, Dr Omolaso Omosehin, also the Assistant Reps, UNFPA, made this known in Lagos. Omosehin said that the youth-friendly centres, which fall under the “Hello Lagos Project”, would be opened before December in Yaba and Ikorodu areas of Lagos State. I paid N3 million ransom before I was freed by kidnappers – doctor

Azubuike Iheanacho, the medical doctor that was kidnapped in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, has revealed that he had to pay a ransom before the abductors freed him. Iheanacho, who owns Peace Hospital located along old Egume Road, Ayingba, was abducted at his residence in Anyigba last week Saturday. Newsmen reported the alarm raised by the state’s chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), appealing to the security agencies to help free the doctor. President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed grief over the killing of farmers on rice fields at Zabarmari in Jere Local Government of Borno, describing the terrorist killings as insane.
