Niger insists no going back on roads closure to trucks
Niger State Government says it will not go back on the restriction order placed on heavy trucks plying the state-owned roads which took effect on the 15th September, 2020. This is coming after the State government had assured that its position will be reviewed as event concerning the closure unfolds. The state government maintained that its decision to close down all state government roads was done within the confines of law stressing that adequate consultations and sensitization with relevant stakeholders were made and two weeks notice was also served to general public as well as relevant road transport organizations before the roads were barricaded. IGP: Insecurity challenges can be addressed through intelligence gathering
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Thursday said the insecurity challenges in the country can be largely addressed through effective intelligence generation by the State Intelligence Bureau, SIB. Kano governor expresses sadness as two die,16 injured in collapsed building
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of two persons, who died as a result of a collapsed building in the state capital. The Governor, who was at the home of Mallam Mustapha Shehu at Kofar Mazugal Lungun Mai Lalle in Dala Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased persons. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has appealed to the general public to support its survey on the situation of women and children it is conducting, is brought to “ a successful end”. Mr Sunday Ichedi, the Head, Public Affairs and International Relations Unit, NBS made the appeal on Wednesday in a statement. Senator Akpabio denies accusing National Assembly members of NDDC contracts fraud
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Tuesday, denied that he accused members of the National Assembly of fraud concerning contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. The minister had, during an investigative hearing at the House of Representatives, claimed that 60 percent of NDDC contracts went to the federal lawmakers. Oyo governor orders reopening of public, private schools
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the resumption dates for public and private primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state. Commissioner for Education, Barrister Olasukanmi Olaleye, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday. Olaleye in the statement said that schools will now operate morning and afternoon shifting for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools.
