Adegboye Onigbinde: Teslim Balogun remains Nigeria’s greatest

Former Super Eagles coach chief Adegboye Onigbinde has insisted that the late Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun remains the best footballer ever produced by Nigeria. Onigbinde said as much as the Balogun family today remembers the late soccer legend who died 48 years ago at the age of 45. Balogun was the first Nigerian to play professional football in England, signing for Peterborough in 1949 and also had stints with Queens Park Rangers where he played 13 times and scored three goals in 1956. Afenifere: Pa Fasanmi lived a fulfilled life

Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, says the late Pa Ayo Fasanmi who died on Wednesday at the age of 94 lived a life of fulfillment. The Spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said this in a telephone interview with newsmen on Thursday. He said, “He lived a long life of fulfillment and we pray his soul rests in perfect peace.” Odumakin said the group would send in a tribute to the late Yoruba leader later. Police arrest pastor, 34 others for kidnapping dispatch rider

The Police force headquarters in Abuja has paraded a 52-year old self-acclaimed pastor, Adetokunbo Adenokpo, for abducting a dispatch rider and detaining him in an underground facility in his church in Sagamu, Lagos. The suspect, had called the company where the dispatch rider works, Glory Master Logistics, who mainly distributes Forever Living products and ordered for supply of some products to be delivered at his residence only to abduct the rider. The police also paraded 34 other suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery ritual killers, and cattle rustlers for terrorizing innocent travelers with their deadly activities. Benue health commissioner resigns

The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Sunday Ongbabo, has resigned his position. Dr. Ongbabo until his resignation also doubled as the Secretary of the State Action Committee on COVID-19. Enugu governor signs revised 2020 budget into law

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has signed the revised 2020 budget of N146 billion (N146,374,641,080) into law, as against the earlier approved budget of N169,557,658,300.00. The revised 2020 budget of N146.4 billion represents 13.67 per cent reduction in the initial budget size of N169.6 billion, which amounts to N23.2 billion The revised budget, which was in response to the negative consequences of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the economy, was passed by State House of Assembly on Wednesday, after its presentation to the public for inputs. Oyo to set up employment scheme for repatriated indigenes

The Oyo State Government says it is working toward setting up an employment scheme that will provide work opportunities for its repatriated indigenes. AGF: We’re expecting $200 million Malabu refund from Netherlands, Switzerland

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Tuesday said the ministry recovered $200m from the Malabu OPL 245 oil deal, N685.7m and N500m forfeited funds. Speaking during a one-day workshop organised for judiciary correspondents in Abuja yesterday, Malami said the ministry saved the country N181bn in 20 cases at the state high courts, N1.7bn in 50 cases before the Federal High Court, $800m value of judgements at the ECOWAS Court of Justice and another N150m.
