Ondo election: Governor Akeredolu warns Nyesom Wike to steer clear

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, to steer clear of the October 10 governorship election in the state. Wike had on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday declared that Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party will win the Ondo Governorship election. The Rivers governor claimed that the All Progressives Congress was putting INEC under pressure to win the poll for Akeredolu, having lost in Edo State. Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has expressed optimism that he would win the Oct. 10, governorship poll, under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Akeredolu said this shortly after meeting with the APC Election Appeal Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday. Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has cautioned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against further deployment of violence and thuggery in the state. Akeredolu stated the violence and thuggery that characterised the primary of the PDP where parts of the venue, the Dome, were destroyed would no longer be tolerated He said his administration was disturbed and appealed to the PDP to exercise restraint in deploying violence. Ondo guber: Police report armed attack at political meeting

Some hoodlums on Sunday evening reportedly attacked the supporters of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, during a meeting in his hometown, Igboroko, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of the state. The suspected political thugs stormed the venue of the meeting shooting sporadically and also destroyed vehicles branded with the inscription “Akeredolu for second term.” One of Akeredolu’s supporters who witnessed the attack, Ramoni Ayeni, said the meeting was aimed at strengthening support for the governor’s second term bid under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “The thugs were more than 20. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum says it will meet on Wednesday to review the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in various states, and as well find paths for a quick way out of the effects of the pandemic. The forum made this known in a statement by Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, NGF Head, Media and Public Affairs, in Abuja on Tuesday.
