Livestreamed and recorded sets during quarantine have seen artists taking their performances to a variety of new locations, from being submerged in a backyard pool to towering above the Grand Canyon. Now, Pendulum has taken their live show to similarly uncommon ground, in the middle of a strait that separates the Isle of Wight from England’s mainland. The iconic drum & bass group recorded a set on Spitbank Fort, a Victorian military complex isolated off the coast. Prior to the recording, which included a full pyrotechnic setup and lasers, mariners were warned ahead that a robust visual performance would be taking place in the area. Pendulum recently released a pair of songs for the first time in a decade, “Driver” and “Nothing For Free.” Like many ar...
Pendulum waited 10 years to release new music, but they’ve now released two brand new songs in one day. Despite the hiatus, the fabled group haven’t lost a step whatsoever. Following yesterday’s release of “Driver” and “Nothing For Free,” the legendary drum & bass outfit have now dropped the official music video for the latter. The video serves as an emphatic statement on the current state of affairs on our country, despite being filmed prior to the pandemic. Check it out below. With Rob Swire on vocals, the track itself is a haunting yet rumbling electronic offering that strikes more of a melodic chord in contrast to its predecessor, the thunderous drum & bass heater “Nothing For Free.” However, both songs contain the goosebump...
The triumphant return of Pendulum is upon us after the official release of “Driver,” the iconic electronic outfit’s first single in a decade. Pendulum pick up right where they left off, and they haven’t lost a step. The legendary group unveiled a scintillating drum & bass track, making an emphatic return to the genre that helped catapult them to international stardom. “Driver” is flat-out mean, a thunderous, cold-blooded drum & bass hit oozing with the ferocity of a classic Pendulum song. Just like they did in 2010’s Immersion, they were able to beautifully intertwine wholly original, hypnotic melodies with frenetic sound design—a contrast not easily attained by music producers. Dive into Pendulum’s first release in 10 years...
Over the weekend, we reported that the first new music from Pendulum in close to ten years would be released in the next two weeks. While that was enough to keep fans satisfied, they can finally exhale with today’s announcement that the new music is to be released this week. Across their social media pages, the iconic band shared the artwork for the release and revealed that not one, but two singles are on the way. The pair of singles are titled “Nothing For Free” and “Driver.” DJ Mag reports that the duo is to be premiered on both the British Broadcasting Corporation and Australian Broadcasting Corporation. “Nothing For Free” and “Driver” by Pendulum are slated for release on Thursday, September 17th. The former will be pr...
Earlier in the month, Pendulum shared a video teasing their first new music in almost a decade. Since then, fans have been desperate for any information on what to expect from the legendary electronic group. On Twitter, founding member Rob Swire responded to a fan who asked for more information on when to expect the new single. While a specific date was not mentioned, fans were excited to hear that the new music should be available in less than two weeks. The new release is not the only thing fans have to be excited about. While once again responding to a fan on Twitter earlier in the summer, Swire revealed that his and Gareth McGrillen‘s immensely popular side project, Knife Party, has a new “Knifecast” episode coming soon. At the time of writin...
The return of Pendulum is imminent after the iconic drum & bass outfit shared a cryptic message via social media. The group, who have remained dormant for ten years on the music front, took to social media today to tease a new project and send their rabid fanbase into a rabbit hole of theories. They shared a short promo video that is as arcane as humanly possible, with no audio and a dark, kaleidoscopic visual. While it could technically mean any number of things on the horizon, like a new livestream or merchandise collection, the EDM community is nonetheless abuzz with hopes of new music. Pendulum’s last official release came back in 2010 with their full-length album Immersion, which featured global hits “Watercolour,” “Witchcraft,” and “C...
