Paul McCartney is continuing his work with PETA — this time advocating for the nonprofit animal rights organization’s “Save Cruelty Free Cosmetics” European Citizen’s Initiative to uphold the ban of animal testing for cosmetic items. The Beatles legend issued a statement through PETA to both show his support for the initiative and vehemently oppose the European Chemical Agency’s current practices. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “We all thought the battle was over and that cosmetics tests on animals in Europe were a thing of the past, but sadly, that’s not the case,” his statement reads. “The European Chemicals Agency continues to demand the use of thousands of rabbits, rats, fish, and other animals in cosmetics ingredients tests. But you can help put a stop to it. No animal sho...
Kanye West and The Game’s new single “Eazy” isn’t just making waves for its Pete Davidson diss. The song’s artwork, which features a skinned monkey, has been condemned by the animal rights organization PETA. “MY LIFE WAS NEVER EAZY,” both artists captioned the artwork, which features the flayed primate against a blood-red background, ahead of the song’s release. Inexplicably, The Game’s original post was flagged by Instagram as “graphic or violent content” while West’s has not been given the same warning as of press time. “The photo is reminiscent of the monkeys PETA has found, sometimes heads, sometimes hands, sometimes the whole body, in meat markets around the world and it makes it clear that when you remove the fur you can’t miss that there’s a person in there, that they are fellow pri...
Two years after naming Billie Eilish as the Best Voice for Animals for her online activism, PETA has awarded her with the honor of 2021 Person of the Year. At the age of 19 years old, the pop superstar is the youngest-ever winner of the award. Vegan since the age of 12, Eilish made her voice heard at the Met Gala, only agreeing to wear a custom vegan silk-free gown from Oscar de la Renta if the brand agreed to ban fur going forward. In addition, she served as the co-chair of the event, which exclusively served vegan meals for the first time. Elish also stayed true to her cause when designing an Air Jordan collection for Nike, creating the sneakers with 100% vegan leather. And naturally, her first perfume line was also cruelty-free, containing no animal-derived ingredients. Advertisement Re...
It’s pretty wild to realize Paul McCartney, the guy who throws cathartic multi-hour-long concerts with ease, will turn 78 years old this year. To preface his birthday on June 18th, he’s written a blog post for PETA in which he details his sole wish for the big day: that people will finally stop eating meat and, ideally, go vegetarian. “All I’ve ever wanted for my birthday is peace on Earth — including for animals,” The Beatles bassist wrote in the blog post. “That’s why this year, I’m urging fans to watch a video I hosted for PETA, titled ‘Glass Walls.’ We called it that because if slaughterhouses had glass walls, who would want to eat meat?” “Whether you’re worried about diseases that spring from slaughterhouses, the animals who suffer terribly and needlessly, or the catastrophic impact o...
