As President Buhari Clocks 79, A Focus On Achievements Challenge by Garba Shehu

Facebook WhatsApp Reddit Twitter Shares By Garba Shehu President Muhammadu Buhari marks the age of 79 on Friday 17, without the joy of being with the family and the country he governs, seeking to maximize bilateral benefits in critical areas of Nigeria’s safety, survival and economic development in a distant country, Turkey. As President in the last six years, he has had several achievements to his credit. But there are also challenges that need to be met in the balance of 18 months before he leaves office upon the completion of two terms in office. As with all the countries around the globe, the coronavirus pandemic has thrown the biggest challenge to the Buhari administration, for the obvious reason that it kept under attack, not only the health of citizens but the economy and environmen...

Vice President Kamala Harris Neatly Packed Up Charlamagne tha God, Twitter Reacts

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Chip Somodevilla / Getty The administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is currently doing its best to advance promised policies even as tensions grow between their side and members of their own party. Charlamagne tha God pushed Vice President Harris on a question of who is actually running the country, which sparked a moment that has Twitter talking. During an airing of Tha God’s Honest Truth, Charlamagne asked Harris a rather pointed question. “Who’s the real president of this country?” Charlamagne said. “Is it Joe Manchin or Joe Biden?” The question made Harris sit straight up and look directly to the camera to give Charlamagne a read that he probably wasn’t expecting on national television. Come on, Charlamagne, it’s ...

World’s biggest douchebag releases NFT collection

Around the world, douchebags are getting into NFTs in a big way. Now it’s true that there are thousands and thousands of legitimate artists in the growing non-fungible token space, and that precisely none of them are Paris Hilton. And sure, NFTs are a potentially world-changing phenomenon that were just declared ArtReview’s most powerful entity in the art world, though probably not as a result of the “catastrophic failure” that resulted in John Cena selling just 37 sad copies of a one thousand-NFT drop. There may indeed be all kinds of use-cases for NFTs — such as the censorship-proof preservation of historical records — that will cause future generations to wonder why it took us so long. But don’t let any of these important developments detract from the absolute douchebaggery that’s curre...

Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer Sued by D.C. Attorney General for US Capitol Riot

Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer is among over two dozen members of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys being sued by Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine for their roles in the January 6th US Capitol riot. According to CNN, the lawsuit was filed today (December 14th) in federal court in Washington, D.C., accusing 31 members of the aforementioned extremist groups of “conspiring to terrorize the District” with “a coordinated act of domestic terrorism.” The suit also cites the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, made into federal law after the Civil War to protect civil rights and specifically “protect against vigilantes and insurrectionists.” Advertisement Related Video “I think the damages are substantial,” Racine told The Washington Post of the millions of dollars the District spent to d...

Howard Stern Threatens to Run for President in Order to End Pandemic

Howard Stern, like the rest of us, is not thrilled to be entering year three of the pandemic. Unlike the rest of us, however, he thinks he can fix it. In a recent episode of his SiriusXM show, the radio personality said he “might have to run” for president in order to rid the country of COVID-19 once and for all. “Believe me, this here is turning into a third-world country because of the f—ing morons we have living here,” Stern said, referring to anti-vaxxers who have allowed new cases to keep cropping up. “We could be past a lot of this COVID business.” Stern is a registered Libertarian, but in a rare display of level-headedness, he put reason above personal choice, calling people’s refusal to get vaccinated “insanity.” Advertisement Related Video “You were all about freedom, until the mo...

Stacey Abrams Announces 2022 Run for Governor of Georgia

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: ERIC BARADAT / Getty Stacey Abrams is officially back in the political race. According to her announcement last week, Abrams formally announced her second candidacy for governor of Georgia after previously being cheated out of the position by current Governor, Brian Kemp, in 2018. Although she wasn’t on the ballot for 2020, it’s no secret that her efforts through her voter’s rights organization, Fair Fight, Abrams not only helped build the Democratic party presence in the state, leading to victories for Joe Biden and Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock— resulting in united and uncontested support from her party. While many are anticipating a historic victory for Abrams, it’s the possibility of the state making history with all four major part...

Slow News Week: Vice President Kamala Harris Trending For Not Using Bluetooth Headphones

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: JIM WATSON / Getty Maybe because the news week was slow or someone needed to get some traffic going on their site, Vice President Kamala Harris made the trending rounds for reasons not exactly tied to her political duties. The former senator was the talk of social media after a news piece came out noting that Harris uses wired headphones instead of Bluetooth wireless headphones for reasons that should make sense yet piqued the interests of grizzled journalists all the same. POLITICO released a newsletter on Monday (Dec. 6) with a portion of the release titled “Kamala Harris is Bluetooth-phobic,” which was seemingly framed to elicit the kind of chatter that followed. The tone of the story almost came from a snarky place but that’s hard to prove. Take...

Congressman Who Unsuccessfully Sued a Parody Twitter Account Named CEO of Trump’s New Social Media Platform

Devin Nunes, the California congressman who unsuccessfully sued Twitter over a fake cow parody account, has himself a new job: CEO of Donald Trump’s startup media and tech company. Nunes undoubtedly landed the job due to his blind allegiance to the disgraced former president, and not because of his credentials. Prior to joining the US House of Representatives, Nunes was a dairy farmer. Once inside the hallowed halls of Congress, he made a name for himself by whipping up conspiracy theories on behalf of Trump. To be clear, Nunes has no background in tech, aside from suing Twitter over a fake parody account called @DevinNunesCow, which routinely mocked him while in Congress. A judge ultimately ruled against Nunes — because, you know, free speech – which makes his selection as CEO of Trump Me...

Skillet Frontman Calls Rage Against the Machine “Government Rock,” Insists He’s the “Revolutionary”

Skillet frontman and Christian rocker John Cooper blasted Rage Against the Machine while defending his own anti-vax stance in a new interview. You might remember Cooper’s delusional comments from earlier this year following Cardi B’s controversial Grammy performance. At the time, Cooper compared the Grammy Awards to Hitler and condemned Cardi B for the sexual nature of her stage show. Cooper then tried to backtrack on his remarks. Now the Skillet singer has taken a pot shot at Rage Against the Machine, an outspokenly progressive and left-leaning act. In an interview with Apologia Radio, a church-run program, Cooper elaborated on his thesis that vaccines are a tool of government control “more about tyranny than they are actually keeping people safe.” Advertisement Related Video “What’s real...

4K Hate: AOC Blasts GOP Minority Leader For Running “Ku Klux Klan Caucus”

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Anna Moneymaker / Getty Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez laid into GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for yet more silence in the face of hateful attacks, this time against another Congressional colleague. AOC’s fellow Democratic congresswoman, Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, has been the focus of renewed racist & Islamophobic attacks as a result of vitriol that has been uttered by Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado comparing her to a suicide bomber and alleging she was trying to harm people on January 6th during the storming of the Capitol last week. Omar then held a press conference on Wednesday (December 1st) to share a vile voicemail calling her the N-word as well as a jihadist. She had been receiving the messages after Boebert’s comments, sayin...

Symone Sanders To Leave Position With Vice President Kamala Harris’ Office

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Symone Sanders has given her time and energy to the political efforts of the Democratic Party, and now will be putting her talents on the move once more. At the end of the year, Sanders will leave the office of Vice President Kamala Harris and her next moves are largely unknown. POLITICO was the first to report on Sanders’ impending exit from her role as senior adviser and chief spokesperson to Vice President Harris. In a note to her fellow staff members, Sanders shared that she’ll leave the post at the end of 2021 and graciously thanked her team in the process. “I’m so grateful to the VP for her vote of confidence from the very beginning and the opportunity to see what can be unburdened by what has been,” Sanders wrote in the ...
