Is a new Maren Morris and Zedd collab on the way? The country singer and dance producer seemed to indicate that possibility on social media this weekend, where they both teased that a follow-up to their 2018 pop earworm “The Middle” (with Grey) might just be in the works. “Round 2?” Morris wrote Saturday (Aug. 13) on Twitter, where she shared a photo of the pair. It also made it onto the top 10 on the Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at No. 5. “It was one of the fastest sessions I’ve ever done,” Zedd said of recordin...

Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Jason Alexander, was sentenced to 128 days in a county jail after pleading no contest to aggravated trespassing and battery, both misdemeanors. The charges stemmed from Alexander’s attempt to crash Spears’ wedding to Sam Asghari back in June. Alexander was initially charged with trespassing, vandalism, and two counts of battery, but struck a deal with Ventura County, California prosecutors for lesser misdemeanor charges. Because Alexander already spent more than two months in a county jail, his sentence will require no additional time before bars. However, he currently remains in custody for an outstanding felony grand theft warrant. Alexander, who was married to Spears for 55 hours following a spur-of-the-moment Las Vegas wedding in 2004, illegally entered Spea...

Our latest edition comes from our August Artist of the Month Raffaella, who tells us the backstories behind her new EP LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (ACT I). On her new EP LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (ACT I), our August Artist of the Month pours out her emotions through her sparkling indie-pop. But, as its ironic title might imply, the EP also carries an air of playfulness, with nods to old Lindsay Lohan movies, Joyce Carol Oates novels, and storied New York City bars. Today, the rising indie pop star is giving us a Track by Track breakdown of the EP, out Friday (August 12th). Produced by Raffaella’s real-life part...

Michelle Branch and Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney have broken up after three years of marriage. Branch confirmed the split to People, saying she’s “totally devastated.” “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” Branch said. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.” Branch and Carney got married in 2019 after several years of dating. They welcomed their first child together, Rhys James Carney, in August 2018, and had their second, Willie Jacquet Carney, in February. According to People, Branch tweeted a note on the evening of August 10th accusing Carney of cheating on her while she was ...
Marcus Mumford’s solo career has been deeply personal in way that Mumford and Sons rarely approached, starting from the very first lines of his debut single, “Cannibal”: ““I can still taste you and I hate it/ That wasn’t a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it.” Now, the folk pop powerhouse has opened up in a new interview with GQ, sharing some details about his path to mental wellness after childhood sexual abuse. “Like lots of people — and I’m learning more and more about this as we go and as I play it to people — I was sexually abused as a child,” Mumford said. “Not by family and not in the church, which might be some people’s assumption. But I hadn’t told anyone about it for 30 years.” Mumford first began dealing with that trauma in 2019, after the release of Mumford and Sons’&...
Santigold is closing in on the release of her comeback album Spirituals. Ahead of its September 9th release, the indie veteran has shared another preview of what’s to come today with the single “Shake,” produced by SBTRKT. At just under two minutes, “Shake” doesn’t let its brevity prevent it from packing a punch. SBTRKT bolsters the song with a puttering, slightly off-kilter beat that feels a little reminiscent of Radiohead’s “Kid A,” as Santigold sings a message of perseverence over an ascending synth loop: “I won’t buckle under pressure/ Imma be alright/ I will never follow/ If I know the way/ But if you got my back/ I got you, set your worry free.” “‘Shake’ is one of those songs…that basically write themselves, and all you have to do as the artist is be open enough to reach out and...

Artist of the Month is an accolade bestowed upon an up-and-coming musician or group who is poised for the big time. For August 2022, we interview singer and songwriter Raffaella about her brand new mini album, LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act I). Upon entering Raffaella’s childhood home in New York City last weekend, a few things stand out to me: The walls are covered nearly inch-to-inch with both art and musical instruments, signed photographs and records decorate the hallways, and the busied look of the apartment feels quintessentially New York. Today, however, Raffaella is merely a visitor in her old abode — and she’s brought an exciting and radiant new collection of songs home with her. This Friday (August 12th), Raffaella — who is Consequence‘s August Artist of the Month — will release her ...
