“Fast” is the first word said on NCT 127‘s latest album and embodies the palpable excitement and passion the boy band has for their new music. The group’s last full-length from nearly a year ago, Sticker, became the act’s highest- and longest-charting project when it peaked at No. 3 and spent 17 weeks on the Billboard 200. Their latest, 2 Baddies released on Sept. 16, is the record they plan to reach more fans with even greater ambitions and goals. Speaking over an afternoon Zoom call in Seoul, the members talk excitedly about an album they see as pushing themselves as experimental K-pop artists who fully commit to exploring different sounds. While album openers “Faster” and “2 Baddies” embrace high-turbo energy alongside multiple racing and car references, the LP explores different sounds...
Noga Erez has polished up her early summer single “Nails” with a new remix featuring Missy Elliott. Stream the shredding new rendition below. The track begins with the familiar finger-tap rhythm from the original Rousso production along with Noga Erez’s hypnotic hook, “I’ll bump a bitch/ Flesh pieces in my nails.” Missy Elliott picks it up from there and goes on a tear: “See these nails these acrylics/ Try miss I go ballistic/ You step to Miss I’mma give you ten licks.” After sharpening up the shout-out-loud chorus together, the two trade hometown lines with Missy’s “I’m from VA/ We don’t play that down South,” followed by the Israeli singer’s reply, “I’m from TA/ Missy you should check it out.” Advertisement Related Video The collaboration is a long time coming for Erez, who admitted in a...

This week, Carly Rae Jepsen tells it like it is with “Talking To Yourself.” Carly Rae Jepsen speaks for those of us who are delightfully unhinged. Following one of the most incredible lines in recent memory in last month’s “Beach House” — “I’m probably gonna harvest your organs,” she said with the same energy of a person sharing their dinner order — our Canadian pop princess is back with “Talking To Yourself.” Her fifth studio album, The Loneliest Time, is set for release on October 21st, and this wildly infectious new si...
What’s her name, what’s her name? Lisa sat down for a new profile with CR Fashion Book‘s fall/winter 2022 issue revealed Friday (Sept. 16), and Billboard has the exclusive scoop on her thoughts about BLACKPINK‘s new album, her fashion aspirations and more. “Before our comebacks, we always get into lengthy conversations about what we can do to improve,” the Thai K-pop idol told the fashion magazine about how she, Rosé, Jisoo and Jennie approach each new BLACKPINK era. “We try to bring out the best outcomes by discussing our thoughts on music videos, outfits, choreography, and even the littlest details such as hair colors.” The rapper also spoke about her special connection to the girl group’s Blinks, particularly in the lead-up to BORN PINK, which arrived Friday on the heels of ferocious le...
Maggie Lindemann has unveiled a performance video for the track “Cages,” premiering exclusively via Consequence today (September 16th). It arrives alongside her debut full-length album SUCKERPUNCH, which features collaborations with experimental artist Siiickbrain and Sleeping with Sirens’ Kellin Quinn. Lindemann tells Consequence that “Cages” — which was written with Goldfinger’s John Feldmann, Aussie indie rocker Alex Lahey, and songwriter Rachel West (Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker) — is a sibling-like followup to her breakout track, 2016’s “Pretty Girl.” “It was kind of supposed to be [the] older sister,” Lindemann explains. The SUCKERPUNCH standout serves as a rebellious call to action to do what you want, while remaining true to yourself. Between calling out the hypocrisy of t...
Rina Sawayama has released her sophomore studio album. Hold the Girl, the pop artist’s long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s SAWAYAMA, is out now via Dirty Hit. Like SAWAYAMA, Hold the Girl is an amalgam of genres spanning grunge, country, EDM, and more, tied together with the Japanese-British artist’s keen ear for pop. The record comprises 13 tracks, a few of which Sawayama shared as singles: The belt-worthy title track, the rock-tinged “Catch Me in the Air,” the power ballad “Phantom,” and the rodeo banger “This Hell” — the latter of which we crowned Song of the Week. In her album review, Mary Siroky writes: “What Sawayama has successfully captured with Hold the Girl is the healing power of pop music, and the catharsis that can come just as easily with an arena-ready...

Blinks, the wait is finally over. After several months of teasers, tour announcements and tantalizing campaigns, BLACKPINK‘s highly anticipated second album, Born Pink, officially arrived on streaming on Friday (Sept. 16). In addition to the album, fans were also treated to the vibrant, neon-colored visual to accompany “Shut Down,” the lead single (also known as the “title track”) from Born Pink at the stroke of midnight. Though Born Pink is mere hours into its infancy, BLACKPINK’s previous Billboard successes provide some indication on how the album may fare on the charts. “Pink Venom,” the first taste fans got of the album, netted the four piece its second-highest charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 22 on the Sept. 3-dated chart. Simon Cowell has clearly made a name for himself in the world of pop music, but he hasn’t always gotten everything he’s wanted. In a recent interview, the record executive revealed that he tried to score “…Baby One More Time” for a boyband he had signed, but songwriter Max Martin had already promised to give the song to Britney Spears and said no. Cowell was speaking on his America’s Got Talent co-star Howie Mandel’s podcast when he explained his “…Baby One More Time” connection. At the time, he was working with a boyband called 5ive, and they were “just on the verge of breaking them in America.” Someone played Cowell the song — which he said was actually first written for TLC, not Britney — and he said, “My God, I’ve got to have this song.” “So I phoned up Max,” Cowell continued...
