Lykke Li is back with “Highway to Your Heart,” the second single from her upcoming audiovisual album EYEYE. Check out the song and its accompanying music video below. Tender but devastating, “Highway to Your Heart” allows Li to mourn a lost love with slow, simmering keys and reverberating harmonies. “Night falls, it rains, I wake up alone,” she chants. At this point, loneliness is a routine: “Get high but it won’t last/ I’m still alone.” The single comes with an equally dramatic video directed by Theo Lindquist, which sees the artist engulfed in a mix of flames and rain following a car accident. While Li previously shared a teaser of EYEYE’s visual component, “Highway to Your Heart” offers listeners the first complete video from the album, which features several clips directed by...
Harry Styles will beat a path to Australia and New Zealand next year for the domestic leg of his long-awaited Love On Tour. The English pop star will play stadiums in five cities, starting Feb. 20 at Perth’s HBF Park, then heading to Marvel Stadium in Melbourne (Feb. 24), Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium (Feb. 28), Accor Stadium in Sydney (March 3), and wrapping at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on March 7. The dates are, of course, a makeup for Love On Tour shows which were postponed due to the pandemic and finally kicked off in the United States last September. The announcement Wednesday (April 20) of his long-overdue solo tour Down Under follows the release of his comeback single “As It Was,” which blasted to No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. And it comes ahead of the May 20 release of his thi...
She has risen. Lorde returned to the stage in New York City — on Easter Monday, no less — just days after postponing a number of shows due to laryngitis. Maybe there was some residual throatiness to the Kiwi pop megastar, but it barely registered. The beauty of her full-fledged “Solar Power Tour” production at the iconic Radio City Music Hall was enough to cure any ill feelings. Talking about “post-pandemic live music” is already becoming cliché, but we can’t discount how the last two years impacted performances. On one hand there are acts like Lorde’s opener, former Artist of the Month Remi Wolf. Here’s someone who broke out during a lockdown where the only music absorption came via streams and TikToks. Now, with touring back in full swing, she’s playing Radio City. Think about the mental...
The Kid LAROI took to social media on Tuesday (April 19) to tease his upcoming single “Thousand Miles.” In the brief, six-second snippet, the rising pop star sits on the end of a bench, licking a chocolate ice cream cone in an all-white suit when, out of the blue, a bright red grand piano drops out of the sky onto his head. The clip also hints at the song’s lyrics, as LAROI can be heard singing, “I was dead/ A thousand miles away” over top of the video before the screen cuts to black, revealing a release date of this Friday (April 22). Hatchie‘s debut album Keepsake was a beautifully dreamy, widescreen statement for the Australian artist, but throughout the album was a thick fog the enveloped the sweet surroundings. Now, for her glorious second album, Giving The World Away, out this Friday (April 22nd), the fog has cleared and revealed Hatchie in her truest form. Where Keepsake dabbled heavily in shoegaze and ’90s era dream pop, Giving The World Away doubles down hard, creating anthemic pop hooks out of homespun beats and powerful moments of crystalline rock. It’s a logical progression for Hatchie (born Harriette Pilbeam), but don’t think her carefully-calculated aesthetic takes away from the vulnerable truth of her lyrics—Hatchie is more open than ever before on Giving The World Away, and as she works to disma...
Lorde just covered a Rosalía song on tour and, as the 28-year-old Latin musician would say: It’s so, so, so, so, so, so good. While performing Monday night (April 18) at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Lorde began singing the lyrics to Rosalía’s sensual, Spanish-language track “Hentai,” prompting ecstatic screams from the audience as soon as they realized whose song the “Solar Power” artist was performing. Sitting on the steps of her stage’s enormous sundial-shaped structure, Lorde’s only accompaniment was a soft piano that began playing the instantly recognizable opening notes of her Melodrama fan-favorite “Liability” once she got through the English lyrics — “So, so, so, so, so, so good” — of Rosalía’s chorus. The 25-year-old pop star has spoken before about her love for “Hen...
Drake and Taylor Swift share more in common than you think. Hits, billions of streams, huge fanbases everywhere. None of it comes without hard work, explains Drizzy, who, apropos of nothing, posted a throwback picture with Swift on his Instagram account. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news The snap is the last in a five-pic carousel that included photos of Drake’s son Adonis, and is captioned with the motivational message: “They too soft to understand the meaning of hard work.” What’s the meaning behind this Monday throwback? No one knows for certain. The OVO rapper is untouchable in the hip-hop game. During one stretch last year, Drake had one of the most dominant weeks in the 63-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, when he became th...
Listen via Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Amazon Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Pocket Casts | RSS Rick Astley burst onto the pop scene 1987 seemingly out of nowhere when his debut single, the feel-good, earnest dance anthem “Never Gonna Give You Up,” grabbed the No. 1 spot in 25 countries, including the US and UK. In just a matter of weeks, Astley — then only 21 — traded his small town outside of Manchester, England for center stage on a global scale. And he never gave it up, either, even when he broke the pop and dance expectations thrust upon him a few years later and turned to soul. As fate would have it, “Never Gonna Give You Up” never gave up either. Two decades after its release, the song “Rickrolled” its way back...

Billie Eilish’s Saturday night headlining performance at Coachella included a surprise appearance from Damon Albarn, who joined the young pop singer to perform Gorillaz’s classic “Feel Good Inc.” Albarn initially joined Eilish on stage to lend vocals to “Getting Older,” from Eilish’s sophomore album, Happier Than Ever. The two, along with De La Soul’s Posdnuos, then launched into a rousing version of “Feel Good Inc.” “[Damon] changed my life in a lot of ways, and changed my view of what music and art and creation could be,” Eilish told the crowd as she introduced Albarn. “My first favorite band ever was the Good, the Bad and the Queen when I was six years-old, and Blur changed the world, and Gorillaz changed the world, and this man is literally a genius, and that’s that.” Advertisement Rel...
Pulling double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live is both an honor and a curse—often more endurance test than a purely joyful performance. For every Justin Timberlake episode that audiences seem to love (sometimes inexplicably, to be honest), or Miley Cyrus episode that seems to cement the artist’s place in the SNL inner circle, there’s a Halsey episode that feels lucky to escape with a few stray highlights. Singer, songwriter, dancer, producer, actress, and flautist Lizzo seems like an inspired choice for this sometimes-thankless task; though she’s known mainly for music, she has the kind of poise and confidence that translates well to live comedy. Throughout her episode of SNL, she hit her marks with clarity and energy—though the episode itself seemed stuck in Timberla...
