Sting and KURT Talk Their Spanish Language Collaboration “Por Su Amor,” Share Music Video: Exclusive

When he was younger, Latin Grammy Award nominee KURT used to sing Sting’s songs at bars where he’d perform in his native Mexico. Now, he’s singing one of them with Sting. The two have joined forces for “Por Su Amor,” a new Spanish version of “For Her Love” from Sting’s 2021 studio album, The Bridge. The recording will be released this Friday, April 8th, via all streaming services, along with a video (premiering exclusively below) that was filmed in early March in Los Angeles. It follows Sting’s solo version of the Spanish language track, released back in February. The Spanish rendition of “For Her Love” came about when Sting and his manager-producer Martin Kierszenbaum, were in Cabo San Lucas during a break between shows. “Neither of us are beach people, really,” Sting tells Consequence du...

The Weeknd to Release Single “Out of Time” on Vinyl Saw Blade

You’ve heard of the Satan Shoe; now, get ready for the vinyl blade. The Weeknd has teamed with Brooklyn hypebeast art collective MSCHF to release his single “Out of Time” on a playable saw blade. MSCHF is the same company that made Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoe, a Nike Air Max 97 marketed as containing a drop of human blood. As The Weeknd continues to promote his new album Dawn FM, the collective is auctioning off 25 vinyl blades for 24 hours only (and a minimum bid of $1,000). Before you break out your wallet, however, beware: MSCHF is sure to warn buyers that “the Vinyl Blade has sharp edges, is a non-standard diameter, and is significantly heavier than a standard vinyl record. All of these factors may affect playback on some turntables.” Plus, its grooves are made of copper-clad steel, wh...

Olivia Rodrigo Kicks Off Her “Sour Tour” in Portland, Oregon: Photos + Setlist

Olivia Rodrigo was already a two-time Grammy winner before she’d even had her own tour. Not the typical order of operations for artists, but Rodrigo is a new kind of pop star. With her Best New Artist gramophone in tow, the “drivers license” singer finally launched her first-ever headlining tour on Tuesday, April 5th at Portland, Oregon’s Theater of the Clouds — and our photographer Dan Garcia was there to capture it all. The “Sour Tour” kick-off concert featured an entire (if out of order) run-through of the album of the same name — not surprising as Sour is Rodrigo’s only LP. The setlist was padded with a pair of covers: Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” (in honor of “the pop-punk princess herself,” as Rodrigo put it) and Veruca Salt’s “Seether.” Below, find a photo gallery of Olivia Ro...

The xx’s Oliver Sim Frees Himself with Solo Single “Fruit”: Stream

Last month, Oliver Sim finally followed the path of his bandmates in The xx and put out his first solo single, “Romance with a Memory.” Today, the musician has shared another song called  “Fruit,” which is also produced by Jamie xx, and an accompanying music video. “Fruit” is a sweeping number that lives somewhere between a ballad and a banger, recalling saccharine love songs of the ’80s. But “Fruit” isn’t an ode to a lover; instead, it acts as Sim’s proclamation of self-acceptance, rejoicing in queer identity. Those familiar with Jamie xx’s solo material will recognize his kaleidoscopic, clubby touch, though Sim’s deep vocals ensure the track is all his own. The music video for “Fruit” was directed by French filmmaker Yann Gonzalez, and it depicts Sim as a pop star yearning to embrac...

Ed Sheeran Wins UK Copyright Case Over ‘Shape Of You’

Ed Sheeran has won a copyright battle in UK court over his chart-topping 2017 hit “Shape of You,” after a judge ruled Wednesday (April 6) that the star did not copy the song from a little-known track. The judge ruled that Sheeran’s mega hit, which spent 12 weeks atop the Hot 100, did not infringe a 2015 song called “Oh Why” released by an artist named Sami Chokri, who performs as Sami Switch, and music producer Ross O’Donoghue. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Sheeran quickly celebrated the ruling in a video posted to social media – and blasted what he called “baseless” lawsuits and the harm they’re doing to the music industry. “While we’re obviously happy with the result, I feel like claims like this are way too common now and have beco...

Justin Bieber Offering $3 Million in Free Therapy to Fans and Crew

Justin Bieber is likely raking in millions on his 98-date “Justice World Tour,” but he’s sharing the wealth by financing therapy for his fans and crew. The pop star has teamed up with affordable therapy service BetterHelp to offer mental health assistance of up to $3,000,000 in value. “The one thing I’ve learned over the years is that we all go through our ups and downs, and we all need help sometimes,” Bieber said in a statement. “Being able to offer access to free therapy to my fans and tour family is a real blessing, and I’m humbled to be able to do it.” Perhaps aware of the toll that working away from home for months on end — and in a pandemic, no less — can have on touring musicians, Bieber’s deal prioritizes his crew, offering his 250+ person team free access to 18 months of therapy....

Kelly Clarkson Offers an Artistic Take on a Don McLean Classic: Watch

Kelly Clarkson opened the Tuesday (April 5) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show with gorgeous cover of Don McLean‘s “Vincent.” “Starry, starry night/ Paint you palette blue and gray/ Look out on the summer’s day/ With eyes that know the darkness in my soul/ Shadows on the hills/ Sketch the trees and daffodils/ Catch the breeze and winter chills/ In colors on the snowy linen land,” the singer intoned, accompanied by a lone acoustic guitar. The tribute to Vincent Van Gogh was originally released by McLean in February 1972 as a follow-up to his No. 1 hit “American Pie.” Though the track didn’t quite reach the stratospheric heights of its smash predecessor, it did ultimately peak at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 — giving McLean his second consecutive Top 40 hit off his 1971 sophomore album, a...

Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia Tour Up 1,500% From Pre-Pandemic Touring

The next night won top honors for attendance, moving 16,068 tickets in March 2 at Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena. But Lipa’s...
