Justin Bieber has treated fans to new songs for Justice (The Complete Version), and even gave an intimate look at his relationship with wife Hailey Baldwin on one of the three new additional tracks. Meanwhile, former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson — with assistance from Nicki Minaj — is reflecting on her love of bad boys in her first release as a solo artist. But which new release is your favorite this week? There’s also mysterious TikTok darling PinkPantheress, who continues to capture the Internet’s attention with a surprise release of her new track “I Must Apologise,” which samples ’90s house classic “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” by Crystal Waters, ahead of the arrival of her debut album To Hell With It, out next week. ...

Merch Aimed at Taylor Swift Fans Removed From Virginia Democrats’ Web Store

Piggybacking off the ads, the Democratic Party of Virginia started selling hats, mugs and buttons with the phrase “Swifties Against Youngkin” emblazoned on them in magenta writing, as reported by Washingtonian magazine on Thursday. A screenshot of the merch was tweeted Friday (Oct. 8) by Mediate reporter Katherine Higgins. There’s no word yet why the merch was pulled, but back in February 2017, Swift filed a series of trademarks for the word “Swifties” — the nickname for her fanbase. Swift’s spokeswoman has not responded to requests to comment about the singer/songwriter’s unwitting involvement in the Virginia gubernatorial race. In a statement to Billboard about McAuliffe’s Swiftie-targeting ad campaign, Democratic Party of Virginia sp...

Song of the Week: Mitski Cuts to the Bone with “Working for the Knife”

Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, Mitski makes a welcome comeback. When the world needed her most, Mitski disappeared. In her two-year absence from music, from touring, and from social media, fans of the indie rock superstar found solace in her career highlights like “Nobody” and “Your Best American Girl,” which often centered around the fear of not living up to the expectations set by both others and yourself. “Working for the Knife,” her first new music since 2018’s Be the Cowboy, is no exception to the Mitski formula. From the get-go, “Working for the Knife” of...

Everything We Learned About Adele’s New Album From ‘Vogue’ Interview

In Adele’s interview, she mentioned that she hasn’t tried to replicate the success of “Hello,” which hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2015. “I don’t want another song like that. That song catapulted me in fame to another level that I don’t want to happen again. I’m not saying I’ve got ‘Hello’s in my pocket. I was just conscious that I didn’t want my story on this album to sound like that,” the singer explained. It’s Her Most Personal Album “It’s sensitive for me, this record, just in how much I love it,” Adele told American Vogue. “I always say that 21 doesn’t belong to me anymore. Everyone else took it into their hearts so much. I’m not letting go of this one. This is my album. I want to share myself with everyone, but I don’t think I’...

What’s The Next ‘High School Musical’ Series? Four Streaming Shows That Could Produce Music Stars

While Rodrigo has dominated pop culture in 2021 with her debut album Sour, her co-star, Joshua Bassett, has also flourished: Weeks after Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” rocketed to No. 1 on the Hot 100, the actor released his own single, “Lie Lie Lie,” seemingly in response to Rodrigo, complete with a music video full of winking similarities to his rumored former flame’s viral visual. A self-titled debut EP arrived later on Warner Records, followed by singles “Only a Matter of Time” and “Feel Something.” The dual success of Rodrigo and Bassett, who both appear on Billboard‘s 21 Under 21 list for the first time this year, got us thinking: what could be the next High School Musical: The Musical: The Series? Is there a music-leaning TV series already streaming, or just around th...

Diane Keaton Stars in Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” Music Video: Watch

If you were a teenage girl between the years of 2009 to 2013, there’s a good chance you once fantasized about starring in a Justin Bieber music video. Today, in a move that no tween back then could’ve predicted, the latest actress to take on that coveted role is… Diane Keaton. The Something’s Gotta Give star has inexplicably teamed up with the Biebs for his new “Ghost” music video. The “Ghost” clip, directed by Colin Tilley, finds Bieber at the funeral of his grandfather. Throughout the rest of the video, he spends time consoling his grieving grandmother, who is played by Keaton. Keaton’s character then joins Bieber in a night of debauchery, downing shots of liquor in an outfit that Annie Hall would definitely approve of (would she have been a Belieber?) before swiping around for elig...

Madonna Confirms She’s Making a ‘Visual Autobiography’

“The reason I’m doing it is a bunch of people have tried to write movies about me,” she told Fallon, “but they’re always men.” Universal tried and failed. The studio sent her a draft script, which she described as “the most hideous superficial crap I ever read.” And the studio tapped a “total misogynist,” in her words, to direct. “Why would these people make a movie about my life?,” she continued. “There’s nothing true in the script, the guy who is making it has no understanding of women, no appreciation of women, no respect for women.” Finally, as she sees it, “I just threw down the gauntlet.” There’s no more in the way of specifics, on financing, casting or indeed if Madonna’s completed the outline. Moving off-topic, Madonna recounted the “magic” moment when she first heard one of her so...
