Billie Eilish is on the cover of Elle this month discussing her evolving style, and she’s got a major pop predecessor in her corner when it comes to changing up her look: Madonna. For the cover story, Her Madgesty ardently defended the younger pop star, who’s faced significant backlash for the more body-conscious styles she’s been wearing in the era for her sophomore album Happier Than Ever. “The problem is, we still live in a very sexist world where women are put into categories,” the “Bitch, I’m Madonna” singer told the magazine. “You’re either in the virgin category or the whore category. Billie started off in a non-sexualized category, not pandering to the masses and not using her sexuality in any way, which is her choice and God bless her for that — after all, she’s been a teenager al...
Weezer isn’t giving interviews about Pinkerton for its 25th anniversary. There’s no big press push promoting a deluxe vinyl reissue of the album celebrating its quarter-century of existence. (As of press time, you can’t even buy Pinkerton from the band’s merch store, though it is readily available elsewhere.) This relative silence about an auspicious milestone (which will officially occur on September 24th) for one of their best-loved and most influential records might seem a little odd. But maybe Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, whose intensely personal songwriting drives this 10-song, 34-minute record, doesn’t feel like there’s any advantage to speaking further on the subject. Clearly, the band has moved on; though they took a five-year break after Pinkerton that was, at the time, commonly ...
Asghari reacted to Campbell’s comment with a “100” emoji. Billboard has reached out to Netflix for comment. Spears has yet to respond to the trailer, but after The New York Times released its Framing Britney Spears documentary, the singer told Instagram followers on March 30 that she was “embarrassed by the light they put me in,” and that she “cried for two weeks” after watching a part of the documentary. Netflix’s official synopsis of the documentary reads, “The world knows Britney Spears: performer, artist, icon. But in the last few years, her name has been publicly tied to another, more mysterious term: conservatorship. Britney vs Spears tells the explosive story of Britney’s life and her public and private s...
The artists have joined forces with the NRDC Action Fund in an effort to urge the CEOs to use their voices and call on Congress to pass the most ambitious climate change plan in U.S. history this fall, President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. In a statement, Cabello — who initiated the effort along with the NRDC — said, “Climate change is threatening our communities and future — the time to act is now to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis. Entertainment companies have the opportunity to show leadership and push Congress to enact bold action on climate. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect our communities, create a just transition away from fossil fuels, and create millions of new jobs.” Read the full text of the letter here. The foursome is coming out of its musical hiatus to bring much-needed fun in the world after the last year and a half tucked away at home due to the pandemic. During that time, each Teletubby picked up their own hobbies: Tinky Winky developed a designer line of red handbags, Dipsy made the whole world outside of Tubbyland his canvas by becoming a street artist, Laa-Laa tried her shot at becoming an EDM DJ and secured a record deal with a big-time producer, and Po constantly sought out her inner-peace. The Teletubbies recently pleaded with Lil Nas X to collab with him. “Can we get a feature on the next album?” they asked via Twitter, to which Nas immediately gave a thumbs-up, responding, “Alright bet! me and tinky winky on the hook, dipsy & po on the ver...
Mostly, though, Lachey, a veteran host and contestant on reality shows including Newlyweds, Clash of the Choirs, The Sing-Off, Dancing With the Stars and Drop the Mic, is also glad that he gets to judge this time, with 106 & Park‘s Rocsi Diaz taking over hosting duties on the series. Billboard spoke to Lachey on the eve of the show’s debut to find out what he learned sitting next to Grimes, how the avatars unlock hidden potential, and the powerful message hidden in the show’s otherworldly shell. How did you get involved in this show? Lachey: It started with The Masked Singer and playing a different role while performing while singing, which is what Alter Ego is — it’s that on steroids. I had a great experience with everyone at Fox, and the opportunity...
There are few things riskier on reality TV than to perform one of the judges’ songs. Get it wrong, there’s nowhere to hide. And to get it right, well, you need to go above and beyond. On Tuesday night’s (Sept. 21) episode of NBC’s The Voice, Gymani rolled the dice. The 23-year-old Georgia native performed Ariana Grande’s “POV,” injecting a healthy dose of soul into it. The risk paid off when, first, Blake Shelton turned, then Ari. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. Coming off the Friday release of his debut album, Lil Nas X metaphorically donned his cowboy hat for a cover of Dolly Parton’s country classic “Jolene” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Watch the “Old Town Road” hitmaker’s take on Parton’s signature song below. Putting his singing chops on full display, Lil Nas delivered his version of “Jolene” while backed by a full band. He performed the track into a bedazzled microphone perched atop a microphone stand adorned in flowers and a single butterfly — the latter likely a nod to Dolly’s symbol. In February 1974, “Jolene” topped the very same Billboard Hot Country Songs chart from which Lil Nas X’s breakthrough hit “Old Town Road” was unceremoniously booted in 2019 for not being “country” enough. Parton was one of the many artists who co-signed the...

The Spice Girls took on the world (and won) with their pop masterclass “Wannabe,” which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Like all classics, “Wannabe” never ages. The proof was on show during Monday night’s season opening episode of Dancing With The Stars, when the girl power anthem soundtracked a routine by none other than Melanie C, known to millions as Sporty Spice. Britney Spears showed off her best dance moves to Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy” again, but don’t get it twisted like her body: It’s a new routine. The 39-year-old pop superstar first posted a dance video soundtracked to Eilish’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit in June 2019, where she also re-created her “I’m a Slave 4 U” choreography from the 2001 MTV VMAs with a stuffed snake. She premiered the sequel two years later in July 2021. And now, the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer is giving us part three of her choreography just two months after her latest installment. “This was shot in July !!!! Remember Bad Guy ???? Well this is part 3 …. no … not same dance !!! Different moves !!!” she captio...
