Fans certainly got a kick out of this week’s superstar team-ups across genres. The worlds of bachata supergroup Aventura and Latin trap superstar Bad Bunny collided on the love song “Volví,” while pop icon Lady Gaga and legendary jazz singer Tony Bennett joined forces again on his 95th birthday for their new song “I Get a Kick Out of You,” the first single from their Cole Porter tribute album Love for Sale. But while the dawn is coming, The Weeknd leaves his XO fans gasping for air with his new single “Take My Breath” and its electrifying, rather-intense music video. Following the singer-songwriter’s signing to Interscope Records — the same label home as his sister Billie Eilish — Optimist is set to be unveiled October 15th. The album’s hopeful title comes from the lyrics of its lead single, which finds the 23-year-old desperately attempting to win back a lost love. “Your favorite band is back on the road/ And this fall they’re playin’ the Hollywood Bowl/ I’ve already purchased two seats for their show/ I guess I’m an optimist/ 2011, you...

Miley Cyrus has reached out to DaBaby to start a conversation about his homophobic remarks, saying, “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds.” The controversy began last month at Rolling Loud Miami. DaBaby asked the crowd to get hyped, while specifically telling gay fans and those with HIV/AIDS that they were not invited to participate. He was roundly criticized, and in response he issued a series of half-assed apologies and released a music video in which defended his “freedom” to be a bigot. He soon found himself dropped from several festivals. Now, Cyrus has reached out to the homophobic rapper. “@DaBaby check your DMS,” she said in a social media post, “would love to talk and see how we can...
One week after dropping her latest album, Happier Than Ever, pop wunderkind Billie Eilish stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge for a four-song set highlighted by her stunning cover of “I’m in the Mood for Love.” While accompanied by FINNEAS on an acoustic guitar, Eilish delivered her take on Julie London’s 1955 version of “I’m in the Mood for Love” in a rich, sultry tone while singing lyrics like, “Heaven is in your eyes/ Bright as the stars we’re under.” “I’m in the Mood for Love” was introduced by Frances Langford in the 1935 film, Every Night at Eight, becoming her signature song to perform for American troops during World War II. Other artists who’ve covered the ballad over the years include Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Paul Anka, Barbra Streisand, and Rod Stewart. Advertisem...

Gomez herself called out the “tasteless” joke on Tuesday after her fans brought it to her attention on social media. “I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing but sadly it has apparently,” she wrote. “I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air.” She went on to thank fans for always having her back and also urged followers to become organ donors and provided a link to sign up. Earlier this week, The Weeknd shared the heart-thumping, synth-heavy instrumentals of “Take My Breath” in a nearly two-minute clip that captured the essence of his next musical era, “the dawn.” He later previewed more of the single in an official promo for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo that spotlighted the U.S. women’s track & field team. “Take My Breath,” as the Olympics clip indicates, is set to be released this Friday. Its accompanying visual was slated to air in IMAX theaters before this week’s opening sho...
BLACKPINK‘s Rosé has been on a hot streak lately with her series of cover songs and the newest entry in her growing portfolio is one of the best so far. Once again appearing in a bayside setting with twinkling lights in the background on the South Korean variety show Sea of Hope, the singer set up behind a keyboard for an unplugged run through the Killers’ 2008 Sam’s Town single “Read My Mind.” Accompanied by an acoustic guitar player, she emoted her way through the refrain, “Oh well, I don’t mind if you don’t mind/ ‘Cause I don’t shine if you don’t shine/ Before you jump/ Tell me what you find/ Can you read my mind?” With the sound of the surf crashing behind her, the singer imbued the song with an added urgency thank...
