Chris Brown Accused of Hitting Woman

Chris Brown has been accused of hitting a woman in Los Angeles, TMZ reports and NBC News confirms. According to a spokesperson for the LAPD, officers responded to reports of an argument at a residence in the San Fernando Valley. The altercation is being investigated as a battery, though it’s not clear at this time if Brown will face charges. Via TMZ’s anonymous police sources — who are often, though certainly not always, accurate — the alleged victim received a smack across her head that caused part of her weave to come out. Reportedly, she sustained no injuries, and Brown has not been arrested. If true, the troubled singer would likely face misdemeanor charges — if he were charged at all. No other relevant information can be confirmed at this time, but the story will be updated as news co...

Britney Spears Set to Make Rare Remarks to Conservatorship Judge

Spears, who is scheduled to take part remotely, asked for the hearing so she could address the court directly. Her court-appointed attorney, Samuel Ingham III, made the request at an April 28 hearing. He gave no indication of what the 39-year-old pop star wants to say. But in recent court filings, Spears has sought a greater say over who runs the conservatorship, and has asked that her father, who had extensive power over her life and money for most of its existence, be removed. Spears said through Ingham that she fears her father James Spears, and would not end a 2 1/2-year pause on her career as long as he has control over it. The judge declined to remove James Spears entirely, though he now plays a smaller role. He serves as co-conservator of her finances along with estate management fi...

Billie Eilish Apologizes for Lip-Syncing Racial Slur as Teenager

Billie Eilish has issued an apology for a video that surfaced last week showing her lip-synching to a song with an anti-Asian racial slur. The footage, taken when she was “13 or 14,” according to Eilish, also includes her use of a made-up language that some perceived as mocking Asian communities. The pop star denies that interpretation, calling it, “silly gibberish,” and, “in NO way an imitation of anyone or any language, accent or culture.” The video, posted on TikTok on June 13th, features Eilish mouthing along to the words of Tyler, the Creator’s 2011 song “Fish”. The track opens with, “Slip it in her drink and in the blink/ Of an eye I can make a white girl look c—-.” Eilish addressed the controversy in a statement on her Instagram stories. “I love you guys, and many of you h...

Lorde Details New Album Solar Power and 2022 World Tour

Enjoy your Disney alums who don’t know how to drive and your butyraceous K-pop overlords, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lorde. The Kiwi superstar has announced that her new album Solar Power arrives August 20th, and she’ll be promoting it on a massive 2022 world tour. Four long years have passed since Lorde’s stellar 2017 statement Melodrama, and over that time the demand for her particular brand of intimacy, authenticity, and ear worms has only grown. Earlier this month she teased the title track, which was our Song of the Week, as well as the accompanying artwork, which challenged the old expression “where the sun don’t shine.” Like its lead single, the album Solar Power was produced by Jack Antonoff. As the title implies, this 12-track LP will reflect...

Lorde Talks ‘Solar Power’ and the Origins of its ‘Joyful,’ Slightly ‘Feral’ Artwork

The Kiwi artist is something of a rare bird, keeping a low profile since the 2018 tour in support of her 2017 sophomore album Melodrama. On Tuesday (June 21), Lorde stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to break the drought with a rare live interview. At the top, Colbert reminded his guest of their previous meeting in 2019, in the backyard of NZ prime minister Jacinda Ardern. He pranked her with bogus peanut brittle, and she hasn’t forgotten. To his question on whether all New Zealander’s know each other — a country with a population of about 5 million — Lorde was diplomatic in her response. “I think most of them do. I am kinda shy so I only know a handful, but I know the really good ones.” The album Solar Power is slated to drop Aug. 20, and is the followup to 2017’s M...

How to Get Taylor Swift’s ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ Look for Less

It’s official! Taylor Swift‘s Red is the next re-recording she will be releasing. The superstar announced on Friday (June 18) that Red (Taylor’s Version) will be arriving on November 19. Alongside the social media caption that gave a peek into her “land of heartbreak” album, the star shared the 2021 cover art, in which she’s seen in an autumnal scene wearing a burgundy-colored fisherman’s cap and a beige peacoat. Lorde Announces ‘Solar Power’ Album Release Date, 2022 Tour & Eco-Conscious CD Alternative

Meanwhile, Solar Power will be released in a disc-less, eco-conscious CD alternative called a “Music Box,” designed to minimize the carbon footprint of the new album. Each Music Box will include additional visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos and a download card; the card will let customers access the album, two exclusive bonus tracks and other “special surprises” to be announced later. “I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD,” Lorde says. “I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.” Melod...

Ariana Grande Gets Intimate in ‘POV’ Live Performance Video: Watch

The first of many! Ariana Grande‘s live performance video for “POV” with Vevo arrived on Monday (June 21). The visual kicks off with the singer’s silhouette highlighted by a bright light behind her figure. Standing in a field of lush green grass and colorful wildflowers, Grande delivers the third single from her sixth studio album, 2020’s Positions. As the white light fades away, the stage is bathed with a soft violet light while Grande walks toward the camera, crooning the sweet lyrics to the R&B ballad. In one close-up shot, Grande gazes directly into viewers’ eyes as she sings, “I wanna love you/ The way that you love me.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Olivia Rodrigo & BTS Hold Atop Global Charts, Maneskin Adds New Top 10

Billboard‘s two global charts (the latest of which are dated June 26) began last September and rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S. Chart rankings are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations. ‘Good’ Still Best on Gl...

Taylor Swift’s Dad Says He Still Has Guitar Picks From ‘Red’ Tour ‘If They’re Needed’

The new recording of her 2012 album, with “all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red,” is coming on Nov. 19. Swift released her re-recorded version of Fearless in April. In 2019, she announced plans to re-record her first six studio albums after Scooter Braun acquired her master recordings.
