Taylor Swift and Maren Morris have us all over their collab “You All Over Me (Taylor’s Version),” Swift’s first offering “From the Vault” ahead of her re-recorded Fearless release on April 9. While Lovato was hosting the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards in November, Lovato joked, “So I did what everyone else did: I went into lockdown mode and got engaged.” The joke didn’t go over well with Ehrich, who accused her of “exploiting our breakup for clout” in the comments section of one of her Instagram posts debuting her blond haircut. In one of the songs from her upcoming album Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over titled “15 Minutes,” Lovato flips the script on Ehrich. “Good riddance — you got your 15 minutes,” she sings on what EW describes as a “savagely upbeat banger.” “I really had myself fooled, because it was the safe and expected thing,” Lovato told t...
Enter his instantly iconic and subdued (for him, at least) cover of the unsettling song. Lambert opted for the slowed-down Gary Jules and Michael Andrews version of the tune — as featured on 2001’s Donnie Darko soundtrack — as opposed to the 1982 synth-pop original, sprinkling the somber song with some unexpected note choices, especially his ending wail. The buzzy performance helped carry Lambert all the way to the finale, where he finished in the runner-up slot to Kris Allen, and Adam has found success as a solo singer as well as touring with Queen in the decade-plus since. For Clarkson’s new take, she borrows a bit from both versions, opting for the slower tempo of the newer cover but adding some heavy drums and guitars at the end that recall the peppier...
Perhaps most importantly, the group boasts a potent mix of personalities befitting a best-selling pop group, as well as a variety of sonic influences. The members listened to pop stars like Britney Spears and Destiny’s Child growing up, but also The Cure, Amy Winehouse and Weezer. Villaluz is a bonafide jazzhead; Simpson performed in musical theatre. Boys World choose the demos they want to cut and, as such, the three singles they’ve released to date — which will lead to a debut EP, While You Were Out, due Apr. 9 — echo their diverse tastes. “‘Girlfriends’ is more pop,” Lillian points out. “‘Wingman’ is kind of funky, and ‘Tiptoe’ has a trap vibe.” The upcoming EP’s five tracks hinge upon a narrative thread...
Through the lyrics of “Dancing with the Devil,” Lovato reflects on her battles with substance abuse that nearly took her life in 2018. On it, she sings: “I was dancin’ with the devil, out of control/ Almost made it to heaven, it was closer than you know/ Playin’ with the enemy, gamblin’ with my soul/ It’s so hard to say no, when you’re dancin’ with the devil.” Lovato wrote the powerful new number with the likes of Bianca Deiandra Atterberry, John Ho, and Mitchell Allan Scherr. “Dancing with the Devil” is the also the title song for Lovato’s warts-and-all YouTube Originals documentary, which opened the 2021 SxSW festival. Her forthcoming LP Dancing with the Devil…The Art of Starting Over is due out April 2 via Island Records. Stream the new song below. You Deserve to Make ...

A director’s note on the preview explains, “For kids that grow up with one parent, you can go on one of two paths: You can blame the world, your parents, blame God, blame lack of God, or it can light a fire under you that you’re gonna make it no matter what. Paradise City is the show made to inspire these millions of teenagers and young adults. It reminds us that there is no light without darkness, that sorrow and heartbreak can be the greatest drivers of art. It reminds us that there is always hope, that you are never alone and that music is always there if you let it be.” Creator/director Ash Avildsen explains that almost everything in the show was inspired by real events he experienced growing up in a single mom household in which he was estranged from his father...
