Robin Thicke Says ‘Lucky Star’ Was Inspired by His Late Father Alan Thicke & Mentor Andre Harrell

Robin Thicke drew inspiration from some of his biggest heroes when writing music for his forthcoming album, On Earth, and in Heaven. The 43-year-old hitmaker took to social media on Friday (Feb. 5) to reveal the emotional meaning behind the album’s opener “Lucky Stars,” which was inspired by his late father Alan Thicke, who died in 2016, and Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell, who passed away in May. “This is the last song I wrote for the album and it’s also the first track on the album,” Thicke wrote on Instagram. “Once we had this song I knew the album was complete. You know that feeling you have when you’re all alone but you know that you’re not alone. That’s what ‘Lucky Star’ is about. That presence in your life that holds you tight, gi...

This TikTok User Mashed Up ‘WAP’ With ‘Bop to the Top’ From ‘High School Musical’ & It’s Actually Good

Bop bop bop, bop to the top, slip and slide and ride that… “WAP”? In the most unlikely mashup of all time, TikTok user @kraziibird seamlessly blended Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s raunchy Billboard Hot 100 chart topper with High School Musical‘s “Bop to the Top,” performed by Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel’s characters Sharpay and Ryan. And while the two songs could not be more different, the resulting remix is actually really, really catchy. Sabrina Carpenter Teases ‘Skin’ Music Video: Watch

Carpenter, who recently signed with Island Records, surprise-released the song on Jan. 22. Fans speculated it was a response to Olivia Rodrigo’s hit single “Drivers License,” due to rumors of a love triangle involving Rodrigo, Carpenter and Joshua Bassett. (In “Drivers License,” Rodrigo sings, “And you’re probably with that blonde girl/ Who always made me doubt/ She’s so much older than me/ She’s everything I’m insecure about.” In “Skin,” Carpenter sings, “Maybe you didn’t mean it/ Maybe ‘blonde’ was the only rhyme.”) But in an Instagram post last week, Carpenter said “Skin” “isn’t calling out one single person. some lines address a specific situation, while other lines ad...

Louis Tomlinson Shares Original ‘Walls’ Demo to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary of the Album

“I was going to do some merch but I didn’t want to market the day. Just wanted it to be a celebration for us! So you’ll have to wait for new merch!” he added. When someone pointed out that many celebrities might have turned the anniversary into “a cash grab,” Tomlinson commented, “Too many greedy f—ers out there!” One fan asked, “A year after walls’ release, do you think you could have done something differently?” “Don’t think so,” wrote Tomlinson. “All part of the process. Still really proud of it.” In another tweet, he shared that prior to the album’s release, he’d been most excited for listeners to hear “Kill My Mind” and the title track “Walls” for t...

Taylor Swift Fan on TikTok Predicts What a ‘Folklovermore’ Tour Could Look Like

“Over the past few years, I wrote three very different albums,” he began in his Swift-inspired TikTok sketch with the highest view count, spoofing her usual style of introducing songs on stage. “And even though we haven’t yet had the chance to hang out and sing them together, I can hear you guys screaming every single lyric. And I write a lot of lyrics. And I’m also just so humbled that after this whole quarantine, you chose to spend one of your first nights in public hanging out with me, so thank you. Even though these three albums are different, I find that there’s three consistent facets: stories of lovers, folklore tales, and nights like this that can hopefully last … forevermore,” Lario quipped before playing the opening chords of Evermo...

10 Standout Moments From BLACKPINK’s ‘The Show’ Livestream Concert

1. The Live Band Opening With “Kill This Love”  One of the best parts about BLACKPINK’s In Your Area tour from 2019 was hearing the group reinterpret their smashes with a full, live band accompanying them. Even with COVID-19 restrictions and moving to an online concert, the group was able to bring in their backing band members to not only serve their Hot 100 hit “Kill This Love” with all the style, vocals, raps and choreography fans expect, but as well as a refreshing musical rework thanks to their drummer, bassist, guitarist and keyboardist. 2. Jisoo Taking Tove Lo‘s Track on an Emotional Journey Fans knew to expect some special solo stages from the individual members, and Jisoo full-on delivered by not only offering an emotional cover of Tove...

Fans Choose Selena Gomez & Rauw Alejandro’s ‘Baila Conmigo’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

The Tainy-produced track, which translates to “Dance With Me,” arrived two weeks after “De Una Vez,” a rhythmic pop song about healing and self-worth. It marked the singer’s first Spanish single in more than a decade. Both songs will appear on Gomez’s all-Spanish EP, Revelación, which is scheduled for release on March 12. Placing second on the past week’s tally with 9% of the vote was the “other” category, followed by Weezer’s latest album, OK Human, in third with almost 5% of the vote. “OK Human was made at a time when humans-playing-instruments was a thing of the past,” the rock band tweeted in mid-January when announcing its 14th album. “All we could do is look back on ancient times when humans really mattered and when th...

BLACKPINK Light up the Sky Again with THE SHOW: Review

To paraphrase Wendy Williams: BLACKPINK? They’ve got a point: they are legends, and they are the moment. The pop quartet — made up of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — made a joyful return to the stage Saturday with their livestream concert, “THE SHOW”. It was just October of 2020 that the group released their debut full-length album (aptly titled THE ALBUM) following years of chart-smashing singles and EPs. Having already conquered international markets and ascended to unparalleled heights for a South Korean girl group, it’s easy to forget that, in terms of releases, BLACKPINK have only started to scratch the surface. Streamed through YouTube by the band’s label, YG Entertainment, “THE SHOW” was a spectacle indeed, involving a live band, a legion of backup dancers, and performance premieres...
