The superstar returns to No. 1 on the Artist 100 for a 51st total week on top, extending her record for the most weeks spent at the summit. To the surprise of no one, Taylor Swift’s new album Midnights is a certified smash. On its way to debuting at No. 1 in 14 countries — including the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada — Swift’s 10th LP also broke a bevy of records worldwide. Among her many feats, Swift became the only artist to have five albums debut with over 1 million units sold in their first week in US Nielsen history. Midnights moved 1.578 million units, behind only Adele’s 25 for the biggest debut by a female artist in Billboard history. Of the 1.578 millions sold, one million of that total was pure album sales — the first album to achieve this since Swift’s own reputation in 2017. Multiple K-pop-related events and new music releases have been canceled or postponed following a national tragedy in South Korea where more than 150 people, so far, have lost their lives in a crowd crush at Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood during Halloween weekend. The New York Times reports that officials do not know what caused the disaster that’s left dozens killed and injured. South Korean president Yoon Sukyeol declared a period of national mourning following the incident through Saturday, Nov. 5. Frank Ocean is launching his brand-new Homer Radio with Apple Music 1. The one-hour show is set for Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. “Someone’s vacuuming the carpets adding a distant layer of white noise to the sound,” Ocean said in a cryptic statement about the show. “Security is pacing off some boredom while pretending to check the rooms and the safes on a rehearsed patrol.
