Mystikal Faces Prison In Life After First-Degree Rape Indictment

Cohen / Getty Mystikal, having endured similar charges and serving time in the past, faces up to life in prison after a first-degree rape indictment was handed down. The charge is tied to an alleged July 30 incident at the Louisiana rapper’s home and other charges were levied as well. Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, was indicted by an Ascension Parish grand jury this past Tuesday and the 51-year-old veteran rapper remains in the Ascension Parish Prison according to a report from the New Orleans Advocate. Mystikal’s previous attorney shot down the allegations but he has since retained new counsel in Joel Pearce, who represented the rapper in 2017 in another rape case that Mystikal served 18 months in prison over. Daddy Yankee’s manager Raphy Pina has been sentenced to prison for possession of firearms. As per Digital Music News the power player was hit with some stiff numbers by Puerto Rico courts. The lawyer for Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer has revealed that the veteran metal musician was threatened with his life and had feces and urine hurled at him while in jail for his role in the US Capitol riot. In April, Schaffer became the first person involved in the January 6th insurrection to plead guilty to charges related to the riot. The two charges to which he pleaded guilty are obstruction of an official proceeding and entering a building with a dangerous weapon. He admitted to carrying bear spray into the Capitol, as he and others forced their way into the building. South Africa’s Jacob Zuma mounts last-ditch legal fight against jail term

South Africa’s ex-president Jacob Zuma on Friday mounted a last-ditch legal bid to avoid prison after the country’s top court ordered him jailed for failing to appear before graft investigators. In a landmark ruling, the Constitutional Court on Tuesday handed Zuma a 15-month term for contempt after he snubbed a probe into the theft of state assets under his tenure. If the 79-year-old fails to turn himself in by Sunday, police will be given a further three days to arrest him and take him to jail to start the sentence.
