Donald Trump has 13 days left in office — tops, if he doesn’t get impeached or 25th-ed. After the events of Wednesday, he’s in such disarray he can’t even figure out where to sleep. At the same time, he’s also trying to figure out who to pardon with his last gasps of power. Unsurprisingly, a lot of folks he’s considering share the name Trump, but also on the shortlist are rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, according to Bloomberg. Weezy publicly endorsed Trump back in October, posing for a photo-op with the one-termer. Two months later, the Tha Carter V rapper pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge stemming from a December 2019 incident where a he was found with a firearm on his private plane. The maximum sentence is 10 years, but even without a presidential pardon, he likely would...

However, before they could reach the main building structure, Dr. Dre’s home security confronted the men and called the police. “The men fled, but cops arrived almost immediately and chased the 4 would-be burglars, catching and arresting them.” ABC 7 reports that during a search of the suspects’ vehicle, officials “found a backpack full of burglary tools, saws, and crowbars.” All four men have been arrested for attempted burglary and are curr...
The Griselda Records universe continues to grow, and with this expansion comes the collective’s first-ever feature film, Conflicted. Directed by AK Reed with a script from Deuce King, the upcoming “urban tale” depicts longtime label artist Benny the Butcher as a Buffalo gangster trying to get his life back on track after spending time behind bars. As to be expected, the movie comes with a soundtrack by a bunch of gold-tiered Griselda talent, including Westside Gunn, who appears on a new cut titled “The Hurt Business”. Today’s offering features additional contributions from Smoke DZA and Wale, but the spotlight shines firmly on Westside and the gritty story he weaves. Painting a graphic scene of the vicious streets of Buffalo, he raps over an old-school production, “Blow his brains out...

Give Madlib his flowers now. The legendary producer broke through in 2004 with Madvillainy, a seminal collaboration with MF DOOM that provided a blueprint for a generation of witty, irreverent rap music. DOOM recently died, but Madlib continues to author some of the most vital hip-hop of the day. He recently announced the album Sound Ancestors, created in collaboration with Four Tet, and today he’s back with the new song “Hopprock”. “Hopprock” was released only under Madlib’s name, though the credits list Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, as both writer and composer. The instrumental track opens with a natural soundscape that includes meditative sounds of water and wooden percussion. But after one of Madlib’s trademark grimy samples stutters through an answering machine message (...

OME also credits DOOM for the lifelong impact his visual aesthetics will have. “Fool you about to sell more masks than Dr. Fauci,” he raps. “I’m copping one off Etsy to rock it proudly.” At one point in the freestyle, the Chicago-bred MC brings up how he idolized MF DOOM in both childhood and adulthood. That lifelong respect event...
Although his career was short-lived, Lil Peep made a lasting impression on a whole generation of young hip-hop fans. His brand of emo rap also apparently profoundly impacted… 53-year-old Billy Corgan. Since Lil Peep’s death in 2017, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman has compared him to some of the most iconic rock stars in music history. In 2018, Corgan likened the rapper’s music to that of early Metallica. Now, in a recent interview with Upset magazine, the Pumpkins leader has dubbed Lil Peep the Kurt Cobain of his generation. The incredible revelation came during a discussion about CYR, the Smashing Pumpkins’ newly released double album, and how they’ve managed to stay relevant more three decades into their career: “This album is the result of us trying to come into the modern world,” ...
Cobra Kai and music go together like Daniel and Miyagi. Just think back to all the needle drops: Johnny Lawrence brooding to Foreigner in his Firebird. He and LaRusso singing REO Speedwagon together. In it, RTJ valiantly lead a toy rebellion against an evil, dictator-like ice king. In addition to being a thrilling and visually entertaining watch, the video aptly encapsulates the powerful essence of RTJ4, an album that denounces systemic oppression in all its forms and rallies for change. Check it out below. “It was great to work with the RTJ guys again,” Hopewell commented in a statemen...
A recent JetBlue flight ran into some unexpected turbulence when rapper Lil Pump refused to wear a mask. Now, according to TMZ, the Trump-loving MC has been banned from flying JetBlue. On Saturday, December 26th, Lil Pump boarded a plane bound for Los Angeles from Fort Lauderdale. Audio recordings from the flight deck reveal that midway through the trip, Lil Pump not only removed his mask, but became verbally abusive with the poor flight attendants tasked with getting it back on. Still maskless, he began coughing and sneezing into a blanket, perhaps purposefully trying to make his fellow passengers uncomfortable. The flight deck apparently requested that police meet them at LAX, since the rapper had to be dealt with “firmly.” TMZ reports that Lil Pump eventually calmed down and put his mas...
