The Cranberries are paying tribute to Dolores O’Riordan on what would have been her 50th birthday with a new specially curated playlist. “To mark the occasion, we have, together with some of Dolores’ closest friends and family, chosen a special playlist of 15 songs from our catalogue, songs that remind each of us in differing ways and for differing reasons of Dolores, and rather than choose songs from the hits, we decided to choose from some of our favourite lesser-known songs,” said The Cranberries’ Fergal Lawler Mike Hogan, and Noel Hogan in a statement. Entitled Remembering Delores, the 15-song digital-only playlist was created and released with the approval of O’Riordan’s estate. Take a listen below. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the festival, which takes place at the Napa Valley Expo, has a strict curfew as it’s located in a residential area. In fact, in previous years, Grohl’s own band had festival organizers pulling the plug when Foo Fighters broke the curfew, and the same thing happened to Neil Young. Billboard reached out to a representative for BottleRock for comment about Guns N’ Roses’ set this weekend. The three-day music, wine, craft brew and culinary festival was set for the Napa Valley Expo on Sept. 3-5. Watch the “Paradise City” performance in the clip below. Imagine pulling the plug on Guns N’ Roses and Dave Grohl performing “Paradise City.” That’s the reality organizers of the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival faced after GN’R’s Saturday night headlining set blew passed the 10:00 pm curfew. Ahead of Foo Fighters’ own headlining set on Sunday, Grohl made a surprise cameo during GN’R’s encore performance of “Paradise City.” However, as Napa Valley has a strict 10:00 p.m. curfew, the band only got through about half of the song before organizers were forced to pull the plug. Undeterred, Axl Rose continued yelling out the song’s lyrics before eventually walking off the stage. Watch fan-captured footage below. After feuding in the 90s, Grohl and GN’R have become quite chummy in recent years. Grohl famously lent his throne to Axl Rose after the GN’R ...
Following the cancellation of Bonnaroo 2021, in which Hurricane Ida rendered the campgrounds and festival site unusable just days before kickoff, artists are seeking ways to still connect with fans. Among the acts already in middle Tennessee announcing last-minute shows are Leon Bridges, The Band Camino, and Zach Bryan. Saturday, September 4th featured one of the more stacked impromptu lineups of the weekend when Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville welcomed Sylvan Esso, Brittany Howard, and Phoebe Bridgers (with a negative COVID test or proof of vaccination required for entry). Stretching over four hours, the show allowed ample time onstage for all the artists. As Phoebe Bridgers put it, glancing at the nearly 7,000 people gathered in downtown Nashville, “Bonnaroo would’ve been tight…but this...
The interview, concert footage and other archive material are spliced into contemporary interviews with the three surviving band members — Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones — to create a montage that maps the frenetic first two years of the band’s existence and its early musical influences. MacMahon, who along with McGourty launched the PBS American Epic documentary series, said it took a year to locate the Bonham recording, after hearing a bootleg version of the interview on a vinyl record. From the sound, he knew that it had been converted into a quarter-inch tape. He then “went to every Australian journalist that we knew from that era saying do you recognize this voice? Because the journalist doesn’t identify himself.” “Eventually I tracked down someone who said, ‘We know who it wa...
The musician then made a suggestion. “u need to f— as many things as possible. Shoes, gopher holes, golfers. Anything u can catch.” In the caption, DeLonge described the reasoning behind his message. “I wanted to be a good friend to @markhoppus and just give some modest advice on what he should do next, now that his Chemo treatments have subsided and it looks like they may have worked wonderfully,” he wrote. Hoppus, 49, announced his cancer diagnosis last June, revealing that he had been undergoing chemotherapy for three months at that stage. “It sucks and I’m scared, but at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this,” he said at the time. He revealed during a Twitch stream later on that the type of cancer he was battling was stage...

This year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which was slated for Sept. 2-5 at Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tenn., was cancelled on Tuesday after the waterlogged areas and campgrounds flooded by the remnants of Ida made it impossible to stage the event as planned. “We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that we must cancel Bonnaroo,” organizers said in a statement. “While this weekend’s weather looks outstanding, currently Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are flooded to the point that we are unable to drive in or park vehicles safely. We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain ...
Listen via: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Radio Public | Pocket Casts | RSS Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament once stated that “essentially Ten was just an excuse to tour.” The band clearly just wanted some material to play on the road, as their first tour kicked off just after they’d completed mixing sessions for their debut album; the record wasn’t even released yet. The tour — PJ’s only with drummer Matt Chamberlain — was a short one focusing on the East Coast and Midwest. It wrapped up in Chicago at the famed Cabaret Metro with a concert that is still legendary among Pearl Jam fans. Sir Elton John has announced the new collaborative album The Lockdown Sessions, and it comes with a guest list that’s unusually sparkly even by his shimmering standards. Eddie Vedder, Lil Nas X, Gorillaz, Stevie Nicks, and more will join their voices with John’s when the project arrives October 22nd. The Rocket Man has already shared a couple of previews, including “Cold Heart” (PNAU Remix)” with Dua Lipa, “Chosen Family” with Rina Sawayama, and Miley Cyrus’ star-studded Metallica cover “Nothing Else Matters”, which will also appear on the charity compilation The Metallica Blacklist. That’s not the only track being pressed into double duty; the Lil Nas X cut “One of Me” is slated for his debut album Montero. But when an artist of John’s caliber asks if he...
Both are practicing what they preach by getting vaccinated. “And now that I’ve done what I can to protect myself and those around me, well, I feel fine,” says Stipe, lifting from the lyrics of the indie rock legends’ 1987 song. In another, Stipe calls on Athens, a center for arts and culture, to “lead the way once again” by getting vaccinated. Adds Mills, “now it’s time to give back to the town we love. I got my shots and I urge you to do the same.” Infections are on the rise in the Peach State. The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 110 new COVID cases for Athens-Clarke County on Thursday (Sept. 1), 45 for Jackson County and 15 for Oconee County, while the University of Georgia reported 457 positive COVID-19 tests from Aug. 23-29. Stipe and Mills’ public service announcements ca...
