The same day Fall Out Boy announced their upcoming eighth album, founding guitarist Joe Trohman posted a note to social media saying he’s taking a break from the band. “Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years,” Trohman wrote in a message posted to Fall Out Boy’s Instagram page. “So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell.” Trohman has been with the band since its early 2000s formation in the suburbs of Chicago, alongside singer Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley. Earlier Wednesday, Fall Out Boy announced their eighth studio album, So Much (For) Stardust, out March 24, and rel...

In one of the best trick combos ever pulled, Goldfinger brought out Tony Hawk to perform “Superman,” their standout single that appeared on the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game soundtrack. The skateboarding legend joined the veteran ska band on-stage at their show in Anaheim, California on January 14th, and was introduced by Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann as “Mr. Tony Fucking Hawk” before ceding the mic to him completely. He kicked off the rendition by calmly asking the crowd “How are you?” before the band abruptly launched into the track while Hawk, still gathering speed, casually added “I hope you know this song. Are you ready? Here we go.” Though Hawk still makes for a better skater than singer, the performance was a symbolic gesture that celebrated the long-running connect...

Lyrically, vocalist Damiano David invites us to Los Angeles, the “city of lies” where “you can be a movie star” and “put plastic on your face.” On the chorus, he sings, “Sip the gossip, drink ’til you choke/ Sip the gossip, burn down your throat/ You’re not iconic, you are just like them all/ Don’t act like you don’t know.” Check out “Gossip” below. U2’s The Edge previewed the project in a handwritten note sent to fans. “The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now,” The Edge wrote. “Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown. But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place. The essence of those songs is still in us, but how to reconnect with that essence when we have moved on, and grown so much? “Music allows you to time travel and so we started to imagine what it would be like to bring these songs...
