When Guns N’ Roses come to an arena or stadium near you, there won’t be any chance of Axl Rose’s microphone smacking you in the face. The reunited rock legends’ front man has pledged to quit throwing his mic into the crowd, a decades-long tradition, after a fan apparently sustained facial injuries when she was hit during a concert in Australia. According to the Adelaide Advertiser, Rebecca Howe was left with two black eyes and a bloody nose when Rose threw his mic at the completion of their set. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Following a rendition of the final song “Paradise City,” Rose “took a bow and then he launched the microphone out to the crowd … and then bang, right on the bridge of my nose,” she told the title. Ben Gibbard will be pulling some serious double-duty next fall when he takes both his indie rock favorite bands on the road for the first ever Death Cab For Cutie/The Postal Service joint tour. The co-headlining outing that will mark the 20th anniversary of Death Cab’s breakthrough fourth album, 2003’s Transatlanticism and that year’s Postal Service debut, Give Up, will feature both bands performing the respective albums in full. Gibbard, co-founder of both groups, will front the bands for the unique tour announced on Thursday (Dec. 8). “I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003,” the singer said in a release announcing the run of 17 U.S. shows that is slated to kick off on Sept. 8, 2023 in Portland, Maine and run through an Oct. 13 gig at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles...
Goose landed at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, December 7th with a performance of the title track from their latest album, Dripfield. The quintet appeared relaxed and loose making their Tonight Show debut. The 30 Rock stage was dressed for the holidays, and after Goose added some well-saturated purple and blue jam band lighting, the set was more than merry and bright. Check out “Dripfield” below. The performance coincided with multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach’s birthday, which only added to the celebratory nature of their first Tonight Show appearance. It also capped a seismic year for the band, who released their third LP, Dripfield, as well as the 4-track Undecided EP, and also co-headlined a fall tour with Trey Anastasio Band. From hip-hop to pop-punk, acting and now home cooking, Machine Gun Kelly likes to switch it up. Admittedly, his projects don’t always succeed. The American artist stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night (Dec. 7) for a glimpse at his recent wins and losses. First, the wins. MGK won favorite rock artist for second year straight at the 2022 American Music Awards last month, following the March release of Mainstream Sellout, his second-straight Billboard 200 chart leader. In the losses column, MGK, born Colson Baker, shared a tale of his efforts to cook for his fiancée Megan Fox, who has some very specific dietary requirements. As the story goes, Baker attempted to create gluten-free, coconut-free cinnamon rolls from scratch, and called on his neighbor Michael B. Jordan for some e...
Spencer Elden, better known in the music world — and now, perhaps, the legal world — as the “Nevermind Baby,” has appealed a September dismissal of his child pornography lawsuit against Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Courtney Love, Universal Music Group, and Kirk Weddle, the latter of whom photographed a four-month-old Elden naked for the iconic cover art of Nirvana’s classic 1991 album. Now 31, Elden filed his first lawsuit stemming from the Nevermind cover back in August 2021, claiming that Nirvana had engaged in a “sex trafficking venture” by distributing the photo and were intending to “trigger a visceral sexual response from the viewer.” The defendants successfully filed a motion to dismiss the suit the following December, which Elden refiled weeks later. The suit was eve...
Everybody’s been there and we don’t mean on vacation: Red Hot Chili Peppers’ music video for “Californication” has passed one billion views on YouTube. It’s RHCP’s first billion-eyeball video, Variety reports, averaging over 290,000 views per day in 2022. Released in 2000 and posted to YouTube in 2009, the video was directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. It stars shirtless band members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante, both in real life and as digital, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater-style avatars. The video end with an earthquake swallowing band and California alike, and you can revisit it below. As the fourth single from 1999’s Californication, the title track peaked at a very nice No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hit N...

Advertisement The frontwoman tells us how their record label talked them into the compilation and the struggle of it not being released in the US, how 2016’s Strange Little Birds went mostly overlooked, and “being erased from musical history” after the critical-slagging of their 1999 James Bond theme “The World Is Not Enough” (as well as the reappraisal that’s happened since). Metallica warned fans on Monday (Dec. 5) that crypto scammers are trying to capitalize on the exciting news of their new album single and tour by posting fake giveaway offers. “In the wake of last week’s exciting news of our new song, new album, and new tour, unfortunately the ugly side of social media made an appearance. Many of you have let us know about YouTube channels and live streams, as well as websites, claiming to offer Metallica Crypto giveaways in conjunction with last week’s announcement,” they wrote. Last week, the long-running metal legends announced the release date for their 12th studio album, 72 Seasons (April 14, 2023), as well as blitzing new single, “Lux Æterna” and dates for their massive 2023 world tour. “Let’s be as clear as possible. These are scams,” the band conti...

U2 have had the same four-piece lineup since 1976, but according to drummer Larry Mullen Jr., that could change in 2023. In a new interview with The Washington Post, Mullen said he probably wouldn’t join the band on the road if they decide to tour next year, since he requires surgery from years of performing. “You only do this if you’re having the best time,” Mullen stated. “And not everyone is going to make it because the price is so high. So I think the challenge is for more generosity. More openness to the process. I am autonomous and I value my autonomy. I don’t sing from the same hymn sheet. I don’t pray to the same version of God. So everyone has their limits. And you only do this if it is a great time you’re having, you know?” That said, Mullen’s statement seems more like a pragmati...
Dylan Gers, son of Iron Maiden’s Janick Gers, and Noah Yorke, son of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, have shared the new collaborative single “Red Skies.” Musically, “Red Skies” hews closer to Radiohead’s cracked take on rock music than Iron Maiden’s heavy metal. Yorke’s guitar picks out a pensive minor-key waltz as Gers sings, “You’re watching the road twist and twine/ My lord/ Seeing that rain drip upon/ That stove.” “I hope you enjoy the inner workings of our minds,” Gers wrote on Instagram. Via Louder Sound, he added, “I’m truly more excited with this than anything I’ve done in my life.” Advertisement Related Video Yorke said that the song was “written and sung by dyl with me on 12 string, bass, vocal harmonies, and piano and some other bits,” continuing, “We’re really proud of it.
