Smashing Pumpkins Announce “Rock Invasion 2” Tour Dates
The Smashing Pumpkins have announced 2022 dates for their “Rock Invasion 2 Tour.” Though the tour shares the same name as the band’s postponed 2020 trek, many of the original dates have not been rescheduled. Instead, the Pumpkins will play shows in cities such as Tucson, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Birmingham, Greensboro, and Columbus over the course of the 18-date jaunt. They’re also scheduled to play Memphis’ Beale Street Music Festival and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 25th at 10:00 a.m. local time, with pre-sale launching on Wednesday, February 23rd. Dave Grohl Discusses His Hearing Loss: “I’ve Been Reading Lips for 20 Years”
All those years playing in Foo Fighters and Nirvana have caught up with Dave Grohl. During his recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the 53-year-old rock veteran discussed his hearing loss and how it affects his life both on and off the stage. “If you were sitting next to me right here at dinner, I wouldn’t understand a fucking word you were saying to me the whole fucking time,” Grohl said, motioning about a foot away from his left ear. “There’s no way. In a crowded restaurant — that’s the worst.” Up until mask-wearing became the norm, however, Grohl’s hearing loss didn’t pose too much of an issue in his day-to-day life. Dave Grohl is planning to release a full-length thrash metal album, and it’ll likely arrive sometime in the next week. To coincide with the release of Foo Fighters’ new horror film, Studio 666, the band recorded music under the moniker Dream Widow. Grohl quietly released one of Dream Widow’s tracks, “March of the Insane,” earlier this week, but he says there’s an entire album’s worth of material on the way. Studio 666 follows Foo Fighters as they record their album, Medicine at Midnight, in a haunted mansion. Eddie Vedder was forced to postpone two California dates on his solo tour this week after discovering positive COVID-19 cases in his touring team.
