LCD Soundsystem took a trip down memory lane during its Feb. 26 appearance on Saturday Night Live. In an unusual move, the Brooklyn-born band performed a pair of deep cuts from its 2005 self-titled debut album instead of promoting new music. The electronic group, fronted by James Murphy, opened with “Thrills” and finished with “Yr City’s a Sucker.” LCD — which consists of Murphy, Pat Mahoney, Tyler Pope, Nancy Whang, Al Doyle and Korey Richey — also made a cameo as guardian angels during the “Subway Churro” musical sketch, featuring host John Mulaney. From the DJ booth to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Alesso has made his Saturday Night Live debut. Joined by Katy Perry, the Swedish dance music superstar appeared on the legendary sketch show to perform his latest single “When I’m Gone,” which has been climbing the U.S. Dance/Electronic chart. It was Perry’s fourth time performing on Saturday Night Live. The performance was a showcase of Perry’s colorful brand, featuring psychedelic visuals and dancers dressed in mushroom costumes that resembled—ahem—genitalia. The electro-pop track hit streaming platforms back in late December ahead of an official music video, which dropped in early 2022. The video made its worldwide premiere on ESPN during halftime of the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship. Recommen...
John Mulaney is set to join Saturday Night Live’s Five-Timers Club as he returns to host on February 26th. LCD Soundsystem will serve as the episode’s musical guest, marking the band’s first visit to Studio 8H since 2017. Mulaney, who worked on SNL as a writer between 2008 and 2014, first hosted an episode of the show in 2018. He’s since hosted in each subsequent season, making him one of the fastest hosts to join the illustrious Five-Timers Club (three years and 320 days, to be exact). In fact, only Steve Martin and Buck Henry joined the club in a shorter time frame. Following Mulaney’s most recent turn as host in October 2020, he entered rehab for substance abuse. After completing treatment, he began dating actress Olivia Munn. The couple welcomed their first child in December 2021. Mula...

Willem Dafoe brings some seriously big Green Goblin energy to this week’s Saturday Night Live promo. Does that scare you?,” Perry — wear...
Will Forte isn’t one of those Saturday Night Live stars who went on to superstardom, like Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, or Eddie Murphy, nor was he ever really a spotlight player who remained a fixture even after he left the show, like Kristen Wiig or Bill Hader. As he alluded to in the opening monologue of his first SNL hosting gig this weekend, most of the people he used to work with on the show have already returned to host: Wiig, Hader, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers, frequent co-conspirator Jason Sudeikis, and even fellow weirdo Fred Armisen. Saving the best for “way last,” as he put it in his monologue, is typical of Forte’s actual tenure on the show, which was long (eight seasons), distinguished (the vast majority of Forte-focused sketches are very funny), and at his own pace. As such, his...
